Simone Johnson aka Ava, 24, who was working as the on-screen WWE NXT General Manager, announced she has departed WWE, writing on her Instagram:
"This past Tuesday was my last appearance on NXT & subsequently WWE. Thank you to all who have cheered, watched, and supported me through my journey. While my decision to not renew my contract was very difficult, it's also new turning point in my life. It has been an honor & a privilege to be Ava."
The fourth generation star is the daughter of The Rock, grand-daughter of Rocky Johnson and great-grand daughter of Peter Maivia. She was signed to a developmental contract in 2020, becoming the first-ever 4th generation talent signed to WWE. She debuted in 2022 on NXT TV as Ava Raine, part of Joe Gacy's Schism faction, with her ring name later shortened. She was transitioned into the NXT General Manager role in January 2024. She hadn't wrestled in the ring since 2023.
As of this writing, Ava is still listed on the WWE website roster for the NXT brand.
