2 COLD SCORPIO TRIAL DELAYED UNTIL THIS SUMMER

By Mike Johnson on 2026-01-22 22:18:00

Court records indicate that the trial for Charles "2 Cold Scorpio" Scaggs, originally slated to start this Monday, has been pushed back until August 3rd.  The records indicate the delay in the trial was granted after a request from Scaggs' attorneys.  We do not have additional details on why the delay was requested as of this writing.

There will be a pre-trial hearing on 7/23.

Scaggs was arrested in June 2024 in Kansas City on charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action, stemming from a June 2024 incident after getting into a fight with a man during an incident at the Love's Travel Stop, where Scaggs was working as a security guard.  According to a TMZ.com report at the time, Scaggs and the man got into the incident at 3:40 AM on 6/15 when Scaggs told the man to put out a lit cigarette.  The man told authorities he thought his cigarette was out before he entered the building but conceded it may not have been full extinguished.   Scaggs told authorities that when he told the man he could not smoke inside, the man responded with "What are you going to do?" and there was a physical incident once the two went outside.

TMZ reported, "During the scuffle, Scaggs told authorities he pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the guy in self-defense. The wrestler said the altercation went on for several more moments -- and in the squabble, he got in a few more stabs too.  Cops say when they arrived on the scene, they found the guy who was stabbed lying on the ground ... bleeding from his head, chest, buttocks, legs and abdomen. They added that he was transported to a local hospital ... as he was going in and out of consciousness.  According to the docs, though, investigators were able to make contact with him at the medical facility later in the day ... where they say he told them Scaggs was the aggressor in the situation."

Sergeant Phil DiMartino of The Kansas City Police Department emailed the following statement to PWInsider.com at the time: "On 6-15-24 at 0340 hours officers were dispatched to 3201 Ameristar Dr on a reported cutting. Officers contacted the victim and suspect. The victim had numerous cut and stab wounds and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The suspect was arrested at the scene."

Scaggs, 59, plead not guilty.

This would be the second delay in the trial date.  It had been previously delayed after prosecutors filed an October 2025 motion after they stated they were disclosed the name of a person who had filmed footage of the June 2024 incident between  Scaggs and the alleged victim on the evening in question, so they requested additional time to "interview/depose" that person in order to "adequately prepare" for the trial.  The prosecution was already aware of the actual recording, but not the name of the person who filmed it until Scorpio's attorneys provided it.  The court agreed to that delay.  Now, they have agreed to a delay from Scaggs' side.

Over the course of his career, Scaggs performed for WCW, ECW, the WWF, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Philadelphia's Pro Wrestling Unplugged and countless other promotions.  He had a long run with the ECW World Television Championship and held the ECW World Tag Team titles with The Sandman.   Scaggs has only wrestled several times since the arrest.

A number of former ECW stars rallied around Scaggs to help fundraise in his defense, including Tod Gordon, The Sandman and Bill Alfonso.
