The Academy Award nominations were announced and Johnson failed to receive one for Best Actor for his portrayal of Mark Kerr.
There had been initial buzz about Johnson's performance as the MMA pioneer but it did not result in a nomination.
The film did receive one nomination, for the category of Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
