The Asbury Park Press covered plans being formulated by former ECW star Jason Knight and his wife Desire to put together and promote a fundraising event benefitting the son of the late Balls Mahoney, Chris Rechner to assist him with his college education.
“We’re trying to do this in the Asbury Park area because that’s where he’s from,” Desiree Knight said. “The wrestlers are going to do this pro bono — it’s very admirable. My husband is bringing a ring up. Everything from ticket sales is going directly to Chris’ college fund.”
Mahoney passed away a decade ago of a heart attack at 44 years old.
Chris, named for Mahoney's best friend Chris Candido, is now a senior Manasquan High School and will graduate this year.
The Knights are currently seeking a venue to house the event.
