PWInsider.com is saddened to report the passing of Bobby Bold Eagle, real name Robert Boyer, as word has started to make the rounds that he passed away on 1/4 at the age of 93 years old.
After serving in the Merchant Marines, Boyer broke into the professional wrestling world in Montreal, initially as Robert Boyer the Frenchman. He would later be billed as Bob Boyer, where he worked lots of different territories, including St. Louis, WWF predecessors Capitol Wrestling, Southwest Sports in Texas, and for Paul Boesch in Houston. He was usually a babyface and worked Gorilla Monsoon for the WWWF in that era.
Boyer was best known as Bobby Bold Eagle, playing a Native American character, first working under that guise for Dick the Bruiser's WWA promotion in Indianapolis, before taking it on the road in The Sheik's Big Time Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions and later in his career in the WWF. In the WWF, he was billed as Argentina Rocca's protege and at times teamed with his "brother" Al Bold Eagle. His last nationally televised bouts would have been for the AWA in the late 1980s. As Boyer and later Bold Eagle, he toured for New Japan Pro Wrestling in 1970s.
Beyond professional wrestling, Boyers' obituary noted he "transitioned to a long-standing position as a Boilermaker at Amtrak in Beech Grove." In recent years, Boyer had been living in Indiana.
Boyers' obituary noted, "Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by an additional prayer at 5:45 PM, both at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, 325 E Carmel Dr, Carmel, IN, 46032. A second visitation will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at St. Stephen Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church, located at 1435 Medford Ave, Indianapolis, IN, 46222, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church."
