1/7 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2026-01-07 22:25:00

AEW Dynamite is live from the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK. The commentary team is Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone.

We are told by Renee Paquette that Jetspeed were attacked backstage and cannot compete tonight. The Demand and Don Callis show up and say they did not put out a bounty on Jetspeed, but instead it was a Gentleman's agreement to pay people to take out Jetspeed. Don Callis says The Family just got rich because Jake Doyle and Mark Doyle took them out.

Jack Perry now needs two new partners for his match with The Demand tonight as Excalibur goes down the card for the night.

Jon Moxley (Continental Champion) vs Shelton Benjamin - Eliminator match

MVP joins commentary.

Shelton goes to shake hands and Mox slaps it, so Shelton starts with German suplexes. Mox grabs a rear choke, but Shelton gets a back heel trip. They trade forearm shots and then kicks and Mox is kicked into the corner. Mox smacks Shelton and he gets another German suplex. Shelton stomps him down in the corner afterward.

Mox gets to his feet and lays in chops. Shelton knocks him back and hits a massive chop. Mox gets a boot up when Shelton charges into him and then clotheslines him over the top rope to the floor. Mox goes to the floor as well and they brawl on the floor. Shelton clothesline Mox over the barricade and they brawl up the stairs through the crowd.

The ref finally gets Mox to go back to the ringside area and Shelton follows but leaps over the barricade into Mox, followed by rolling him into the ring, and Mox rolls out the other side of the ring. Mox follows him and continues his attack. The ref finally starts counting and Mox slams Shelton’s elbow into the steel steps. They return to the ring and Mox starts working over the arm. They clothesline each other down as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox clotheslines Shelton down and goes to the top. Shelton joins him and hits an avalanche suplex from the top. Both men struggle to get up, but Mox is up first. They throw hands with Mox limping. Shelton takes over with kicks and Mox cuts him off with a thumb to the eye. Shelton hits one splash, but Mox dodges the second. Mox lays in blows and hits a lariat takedown.

They slowly work to their feet and Mox tries for a pile driver, but Shelton drops behind for three German suplexes. Shelton regroups and hits two more suplexes for two. Mox gets a roundhouse kick and when Shelton comes off the ropes, Mox hits a cutter for two.

Five minutes remaining.

Mox gives Mox ten in the corner and Shelton picks him up for a power bomb for two. Shelton then locks in a rear crossface until Mox gets to the ropes. Mox dumps Shelton to the floor with a low bridge and then dives into Shelton on the floor. Mox rolls him in the ring and charges, but Shelton turns it into a side slam for two.

They go to the corner and fight to the top. Mox knocks Shelton down and leaps, but Shelton dodges. Shelton gets a kick to the back of Mox's leg, then a pump kick for two. Mox gets a running knee strike in the corner. Mox gets a boot and a paradigm shift for two. Mox grabs a rear bulldog choke.

One minute remaining.

Shelton gets to the ropes for the break and follows with a running knee strike for two. Shelton gets a triangle choke and Mox pushes forward, getting Shelton’s shoulders on the mat for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Mox calls for a handshake and Shelton finally shakes his hand.

We see Darby Allin skateboarding in the back as he looks for Pac.

We then get a package about Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement match.

The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Leona, and Bishop Kaun) vs Jack Perry, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson

The Young Bucks take the place of Jetspeed after Jetspeed was taken out before the show.

Everyone starts brawling before the bell and it’s time for lots of dives onto The Demand. In the ring, Perry spears Ricochet and then hits a running clothesline in the corner. The Bucks then charge into Ricochet and they triple team him and Ricochet is bounced all over the ring. GOA is taken out again so that Perry can keep working over Ricochet and getting two counts after high spots.

When Perry is sent to the floor, GOA work him over on the floor and it’s time for dives again as we go to picture in picture.

When we come back, Perry escapes from Ricochet after giving a big clothesline off the ropes and tags in Nick for a bunch of Young Buckery. When Matt tags in, The Demand is able to get a little offense in before we are back to Bucks high spots. Toa is able to stack all three of Perry’s team on his shoulders for a Samoan drop, which was impressive as hell. GOA hits Power and Glory on Perry, followed by Ricochet getting a 450 splash for two.

Now it’s time for everyone to get a big move on the last person in the ring, it ends with Ricochet getting Vertigo for two as the Bucks break it up. Ricochet calls for the Spirit Gun but misses and gets a knee strike instead. Perry gets a poisonrana on Ricochet and it’s time for the Bucks to hit the ring for a superkick party. The Bucks hit Ricochet with an EVP trigger as Perry gets a running knee for the pin and the win.

Winners: Jack Perry and the Young Bucks

A fast-paced spotfest.

Mark Davis and Jake Doyle attack the Bucks and Perry after the match and beat them down. Jetyspeed, all taped up, hit the ring with hockey sticks to save the day and the lights go out.

The lights come up on a masked man in a suit in the ring and after the Bucks and their team is taken out, he unmasks and it is Andrade El Idolo as the Don Callis Family are standing tall and FTR is with Stokely, who is in a wheelchair, on the stage.

Willow Nightingale is brought to the ring by Renee for her TBS Championship celebration. She says it is now the era of Willow Two belts. She is going to take the time to celebrate with Harley Cameron and she is now reunited with Kris Statlander. Willow says she loves the fight and the competition. She says she is ready to fight and is willing to fight for both belts in one night.

She says she knows how it works, so someone will come out to interrupt, so she invites Mercedes Mone out to talk. Mone comes out in an all white mourning outfit. Willow says Mone had so much to celebrate in 2025 and puts her over.

Mone takes off her hat and veil and throws a fit, destroying the set and SMASHING THE CAKE by tripping into it. Willow then hits a doctor bomb putting her into the cake again. Willow, Harley, and Kris do a conga line in the ring before leaving.

We get a recap of the match between Hechicero and Komander to set up the match for Mark Briscoe vs Hechicero for the TNT channel. We then get a promo from Mark Briscoe on the farm, and he says it has been too long since he whipped someone’s ass.

Next is a promo from the Triangle of Madness and they challenge Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, and Willow Nightingale to a trios match next week.

Bandido (Ring of Honor World Champion) vs Sammy Guevara

Bandido tries for the Code of Honor and Sammy flips him off instead.

They trade arm bars and wrist locks back and forth. Sammy gets a casadora over Bandido’s back into a pump kick. Bandido trips Sammy, who then bails to the floor as Bandido was coming for a 21 plex. Sammy fights through the ropes and Bandido knocks him to the floor and charges to dive, but Sammy gets out of the way, so Bandido stops. Bandido goes to the floor and they brawl. Sammy gets a DDT from the top of the steel steps onto the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Sammy has been dominating on the small screen, and he chops and kicks Bandido until Bandido is able to fire back. Sammy whips him to the corner and they go back and forth corner to charger charging into each other until Bandido gets a leaping thrust kick followed by a tornado off the top. He then gets the one hand gorilla press followed by a pump kick. Sammy is knocked to the floor and Bandido dives onto him.

Sammy is rolled into the ring and Sammy ducks a leap and gets a monkey flip sending Bandido into the ropes and to the floor. Sammy goes to the top and we see he has a bloody nose. Sammy hits a shooting star press to the floor. Bandido is rolled into the ring and Sammy waits for him to get up. They trade pickups until Bandido gets a rollup for two. Sammy gets a springboard stunner for the second rope for two.

Bandido gets a pop-up cutter followed by a pump kick and tries for the 21 Plex, but Sammy lands on his feet. Sammy gets a running knee, a pop-up driver, and a two count. Sammy lays in blows as Bandido tries to get to his feet. Bandido grabs his boot and flips him into a knee strike, followed by the 21 Plex for the pin and the win.

Winner and still ROH Champion: Bandido.

MJF’s music starts immediately after the match is called.

MJF comes to the ring after throwing his gum into the crowd. MJF has someone with him, and he says Bandido had a good match before putting himself over. MJF claims to be a Lucha Libra legend, bigger than Bandido. MJF introduces his translator Jonathan Cruz. No idea if this is also Serpentico because I have never seen Serpentico without his mask.

Cruz speaks to Bandido in Spanish and when he is done, MJF says while Bandido has one Dynamite Diamond, but he has 6, so it rightfully belongs to him. He asks Bandido to hand over the ring and give up the match and he will put Bandido over to Tony Khan and wrestle him on PPV in a few years.

Bandido reminds MJF he can speak English and they jack jaws until MJF gets a low blow and takes the Diamond. Cruz holds Bandido, and Bandido ducks so that MJF nails Cruz. Bandido then kicks MJF between the uprights and takes his diamond ring back. Cruz and then MJF get a 21 Plex for their trouble.

The segment ends with Cruz flat on his back, so it likely is Serpentico.

We get a hype video for Brody King.

Toni Storm vs Marina Shafir w/Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia

They tie up and are immediately in the ropes. Shafir trips Toni and grabs a side headlock takedown and goes for a leg lock. Toni gets an arm drag and then a series of snap mares and Shafir is sent to the apron, where Toni hits a hip attack. Toni works over Shafir on the floor and then rolls her into the ring and yells at Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia.

Shafir gets a head scissor and drags Toni to the middle of the ring, but Toni turns it into a pin for two. Shafir gets a sidewalk slam for two as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Shafir is working over Toni in the ropes and kicks Toni’s head into a cover for two. Shafir mocks Toni with dancing with her before slamming her. Shafir gets a ripcord strike. She “dances” again and slams Toni to the mat. Shafir wisp Toni to the corner and Toni comes out with a shotgun drop-kick and charges for a hip attack, but Shafir gets a boot. Toni gets an upkick, and captures Shafir for the Big Package for two as Yuta pulls the ref out of the ring.

Winner by DQ: Toni Storm.

Shafir knocks out Toni and Mina Shirakawa comes to the ring and gets a big kick. Luther gets into the ring to admonish Shafir, and Cassidy comes out for the save and the Death Riders all bail. Roderick Strong joins as well. Claudio Castagnoli jumps the rail but does nothing as Cassidy helps up Mina and Toni and holds them in an embrace.

Renee is with Pac and he’s not here to oblige Darby Allin. He has beaten him twice and Darby shows up and says he has gone through hell and has beaten every member of the Death Riders and he demands the match. Pac refuses. Darby blasts him with a fire extinguisher and puts Pac’s foot in a doorway and says to give the match or he will break his ankle.

Pac finally obliges him.

The lights go off and come back on, and AEW is not sanctioning the match that follows.

Powerhouse Hobbs and Hook vs Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland

By the time introductions are done, we’re at the top of the hour, so the entire match is in overtime.

Everyone starts brawling as the lights are dimmed and they do not bring up all of the lights as the fight moves to the floor. Looks like they are using spotlights on the wrestlers. Hobbs swings a chair at Swerve, but hits the post instead. Page nails Hobbs with a chair then wraps a chair around his head and runs him into the ringpost.

Page hits a twister moonsault from the top onto Hobbs on the floor as Swerve hits a Death Valley Driver on Hook onto the floor as the lights finally come back up. Swerve beats down Hook on the floor and Page is in the ring with a chain. Swerve tosses Hook into the ring and Hook bails. Page chases and Hobbs gets a running crossbody.

Hook and Swerve throw hands on the apron and Hook gets a leg capture suplex as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, a table is set up in the corner and Page is fighting off Hobbs and Hook. Hook is able to suplex Page through the table for two. Hook grabs a chair at ringside and wedges it in the corner. Hobbs tries to run Page into the corner, but Page escapes and runs Hobs into the corner. Page catches Hook and has a staple gun and Hook gets a few staples before a power bomb. Hobbs drops Page with a big strike and he pulls up Swerve for a brain buster and Swerve uses the staple gun to escape. Page gets a low…staple and follows with a clothesline.

Page and Swerve pull out cinder blocks from under the ring. They hoist them into the ring and walk over to Hook. Hook escapes through Page’s legs and Hobbs uses a chair on Swerve and Page. Swerve suplexes Hobbs, who is back up immediately and drops Swerve with a lariat. Hobbs puts Swerve’s head on the cinder blocks and begins to swing a chair. Nana grabs the chair and Hobbs drops Nana. Hobbs and Swerve struggle back and forth to drop the other on the cinder blocks.

Swerve batters Hobbs with a chair and then leaps at Hobbs, who catches him and slams him on the blocks for two, broken up by Page. Hobbs and Page go back and forth. Hook sweeps Page’s leg, and the Opps dojo members hit the ringside area and attack. They roll him into the ring and Hook has a metal pipe as they beat him and Swerve down. Page and Swerve are chained back to back. Nana is able to get up and throws his coffee into Hobbs eyes. Page and Swerve escape and use the chair to get rid of the dojo members. Hook suplexes Nana onto the floor. When Hobbs swings at Page, he hits Hook instead. Hobbs gets a power slam for two, broken up by Swerve with a House Call.

Swerve goes to the top and hits a Swerve stomp; dojo members on the floor. Page hoists Hobbs and Swerve assists with a deadeye on the cinder blocks. Hook shoves Page into Page and rolls him up for two. Hook tries to get Redrum, but Page backs into the corner and is followed by Hook being dropped by a headbutt.

Page wraps the chain around his arm and nails Hook with a rolling elbow. He wraps the chair around Hook’s neck, and Swerve gets a house call. Page gets a buckshot lariat and then wraps the chain around Hook’s neck, hanging him over the top rope until Hook taps out.

Winners: Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland
