On January 4, the legendary 26 year career of Hiroshi Tanahashi comes to an end, with one final match against his greatest rival in Kazuchika Okada.
After the final bell sounds on the Ace, Wrestle Kingdom 20 will close out with a special ceremony to honour Tanahashi’s career with special guests sending the Ace off.
Two of those guests will be past opponents now fighting in AEW rings, as Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay are both confirmed to be in attendance!
Tanahashi and Omega battled over the IWGP Intercontinental title in 2016 after Omega memorably turned heavyweight, before their famous ideological clash on January 4 2019 led directly to AEW's birth.
Tanahashi was a key opponent in Ospreay's own transition to heavyweight following G1 Climax 29. Ospreay would take Tanahashi7s old mantra of 'attack for the next generation' to heart and certainly has done that ever since in NJPW and AEW.
Tanahashi, Omega and Ospreay all united in August in London for Tanahashi7s final match in the UK, and all will be together again in Tokyo. Who else will be a part of the Ace's farewell? Find out January 4!
