At tonight's AEW Dynamite taping in NYC, Tony Khan broached the idea of bringing an AEW PPV to New York City. This led to a "MSG" chant for Madison Square Garden.
Khan also revealed to the crowd that back in 2019, Madison Square Garden reached out to him seeking to host the first-ever episode of Dynamite. Khan then explained that MSG management at the time (who he pointed out are no longer there) called him months later to say they no longer wanted to host the show because "it would make someone mad."
AEW has never run a PPV in New York City, but has run them in Long Island, right outside of NYC several times.
