Maybe I'm paranoid, or maybe I'm just old enough to remember. Isn't a lot of how WWE/TKO is spreading worldwide and even starting to gobble up promotions (like AAA and likely TNA, soon) a lot like what Vince did to the territories? It's easier to just steal their talent. Keep only the best and slowly turn it into the same product. I think Back Friday in the WWF/NWA just showed you can't do it all at once.

They are different to me as TKO is working with groups instead of being hostile to them, at least at this point in time.  Vince wanted to corner the market.  TKO wants to make money.

So, does the math simply work out that having 1 million US fans who spend $500 each year on WWE is a better thing than 4 million US fan who spend $100 per year?

Yep, the math would work out that way.  TKO wants to generate as much revenue as possible.

With that in mind, do you believe that Vince really wanted to attract families or he simply didn't have the business acumen to take things much beyond the IPO years ago?

I do think Vince wanted to attract families.  It was a smart strategy is it created new generations of fans.

Is somebody just hitting that wall of age/unwilling to evolve with things if they don't embrace the TKO model? I was fine seeing Hulkamania be born, I was ready for attitude, and from ruthless aggression through early TKO era, I've been able roll with it. Are they fundamentally changing their audience with their presentation or do I just need to hang up it up in Washington this December?

I don’t think TKO’s approach should make you walk away as a fan.  Creative is still trying to capture you as a fan.  That’s the only way that they can get you to keep spending your money on the WWE product.
