The Wrestling REVOLVER teamed with Anthony Carelli's (Santino Marella) Battle Arts Academy for "REVOLVER vs Battle Arts Academy: Art of Battle" in the sold out Don Kolov Arena in Mississauga, Ontario, another part of a long wrestling weekend.
"Big" Dick Meyers of Alpha Sig, a popular WR tag team, lost to Battle Arts' Matt Black.
A match of young guys, kept simple.
Black got the win with a roll up and a handful of tights. They got in and got out.
WR fan favorite Crash won a 4 Way Hoss Fight over Battle Arts giants Karou, Derwin Jackson, and Amazanga.
Very good big man battle.
Amazanga hit a top rope splash on Jackson but Crash grabbed him and dropped him with a stiff Saito Suplex from Crash for the win.
WR's most popular team Alpha Sig (Brent Oakley, KC Jacobs) were victorious over the very popular Battle Arts team, the Dynasty (Jackson Roy, Mikey Truth), WR team Tye or Die (KJ Reynolds, Ryan Matthias), in a 3 Way tag bout.
Normally Tye or Die work as fan favorites but against Alpha Sig, who had fans in the building, and one of Battle Arts most popular tandems, they worked more aggressively as the de facto heels. They looked good in the role.
Another good match that didn't overstay it's welcome.
Nicholas Dossantos (Battle Arts) defeated "Starman" Harley Rock (WR). The theme seems to be "nice match that doesn't go too long".
Rocks' best outing that I've seen.
He missed a top rope maneuver with Dossantos immediately locking in a cross armbreaker for the submission win. Good finish.
"D Man" Dan Parker, a guy who mocks Canadian stereotypes by carrying a hockey stick and has the word "Sorry" on his trunks, beat Connor (commentary never--ever--said his last name and he didn't get a chyron) in a No Disqualification match.
Solid wrestling with the normal bells and whistles of chairs and tables to go smashing through.
There was a battle royal to crown the first Battle Arts Battle Royal champion. It was won by Niles Williams. Or Miles Williams. He didn't get chyron (no one in the match did) and it was hard to make out what commentary was calling him. Plus the closed captioning wasn't working so I was stuck.
He won with a final elimination of Crash, doing double duty.
A clash of veterans saw Damien Chambers and Jessicka Havok defeat Katie Arquette and Derek Dillinger, the Production.
This was good. Entertaining bout. Chambers is a really good heel and brought his working shoes here, one of his best in ring performance I've seen on a REVOLVER event.
All parties worked pretty hard here.
Chambers pinned Arquette with his Darkness Falls face plant finish.
He did some trash talking and went in for more punishment on Arquette when Battle Arts founder Santino Marella tried to stop.
Chambers shoved Marella. What he do that for? COBRA! Down goes Chambers and then Havok.
Representing REVOLVER, BDE defeated "The Prodigy" Matty Z for the Battle Arts championship in the main event, a big rebound win for him having lost the WR Remix title to Chris Danger 2 days before.
Nice match. The feed froze up a few times, missing some action at times.
Two young guys again having a relatively simple match. Matty's a good heel, allowing the Battle Arts crowd get behind what should have been seen as the Visiting team in BDE.
Seemed like some miscommunication late but BDE connected with his Knee of Glory flying kneestrike for the win.
More of a showcase show for a lot of young but very promising wrestlers, laid out in a way that was entertaining, getting in and out in 2 hours.
