WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN IN JERSEY: THE AEW FULL GEAR 2025 TIP SHEET

By Mike Johnson, Richard Trionfo & Cory Strode on 2025-11-21 22:28:00

AEW will present Full Gear 2025 Saturday evening from Newark, NJ.  Here is our take on what should go down:

Kris Statlander (Women’s World Champion) vs. Mercedes Moné

Cory: There are times I feel like I am the only person who loves “Ultimo Mone”, but it’s so completely over the top and filled with 80s heel silliness that I am entertained by it. Mone has also been turning in great matches every time on TV. Statlander has changed her character to the point where she comes off as a complete badass, and is carrying the women’s title better than I had expected. She also has not held the title very long, so I expect her to retain, I think this is the point where Mone runs into the brick wall that is Statlander.

Richard: Statlander's title is on the ring and since Mone has gone a full day (from when I am doing my contribution to the Tip Sheet) without winning a new title, the weather feels right for it to happen. Statlander should retain since someone outside of WWE other than Mone needs a title. Also, I don't think the budget allows for another belt holding person. Stat shouldn't be losing the title yet, and it should go to Willow.

Mike: Mercedes doesn't have enough titles.  She wins one more.

"Hangman" Adam Page (Men’s World Champion) vs. Samoa Joe

Cory: For their second match, we’re in a steel cage. There are two reasons why I think Joe will have to lose this match. The first is that Page has turned himself around over the last year and feels like a much stronger character. They have rebuilt him into a character that the title fits on, and his boo boo face during his first title reign and the aftermath of it (you could literally see him pouting when Swerve Strickland got cheered in their feud). AEW has put a lot on his shoulders and wants to build him as one of their biggest World Champions, so it is not time to take the title off of him. Second, Joe’s TV series got renewed for a third season, so I would imagine he’ll have to take a break soon for filming. Page retains.

Richard: I would love to see Joe win the title, but the odds have been against Page, having to face Hobbs and Shibata. This should be a good match and everything will be thrown at Page but he will fight it off and pull out the victory. Who is next?

Mike:I never bet against Sama Joe in a big match situation.  I am calling an upset title change.

Brodido (Bandido and Brody King) (Tag Team Champions) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely)

Cory: Announcers have been telling us every single time he is on-screen that Bandido is dealing with a shoulder issue and in the run-up to their match, we have not seen him much. On the go home show Wednesday, he and King weren’t at the arena, and gave a lackluster promo to hype the match. FTR, on the other hand, has gotten over as heels to the point where they have genuine heat while using old school heel tactics in a way that feels like 1970s and 1980s heel teams. FTR should go over here and become the team for the other tag teams to chase.

Richard: It has been more than a year since FTR held the World Tag Titles. If Bandido is hurt, let's do the title change. They can have Brody taken out by FTR and when Bandido goes for the 21Plex, he cannot get Dax or Cash over so they counter with Shatter Machine and get the win. Stokely should recreate the pose of him holding the tag titles like Chris Candido when The Naturals won the TNA Tag Titles.

Mike: I can absolutely see a title change here.

Kenny Omega and Jurassic Express ("Jungle" Jack Perry and Luchasaurus) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) and Josh Alexander

Cory: This will be your spotfest with Josh and Kenny doing the wrestling in the match. They are teasing of a Young Bucks Face Turn bothers me since Heel Bucks are the only entertaining Bucks, and Jack Perry couldn’t be doing more to tease heel turn. I see Perry turning on his team and the Bucks saving Kenny leading to DQs. If I am wrong, Kenny’s team will be going over and that causes the Bucks to turn on Don Callis.

Richard: I think Kenny Omega gets the victory in this match. I wonder if we will see Kenny and Bucks reunite either on Saturday at some point in the near future. This might not be a good night for Don Callis and Parliament Funkadelic. And there is a million dollars on the line.

Mike: This should be Team Omega getting the win here.

Casino Gauntlet match for the inaugural AEW National Championship

Cory: What I want to see: Bobby Lashley and the other big guys beating the living crap out of everyone with Lashley winning.   What I will see: Everyone not in a big match on the card who is still a star in a spot fest.  Who will win: I have no idea in the world.  Picking a name at random, I get: Lee Johnson?  No, that’s not right. A returning MJF.

Richard: Bobby Lashley is #1 in this match and Shelton Benjamin is #2. If this match goes more than 20 seconds, they have lost the concept of this stipulation. I hate the first pinfall gauntlet since it should never get past the first two people. This time you have two people in the same faction. I will take FINGER POKE OF DOOM or a lay down pinfall (and maybe even an immediate betrayal). If anything else happens, I don't care.

Mike: Maybe they surprise us with a MJF return here?

Kyle Fletcher (TNT Champion) (with Don Callis) vs. Mark Briscoe

Cory: As fun as it would be for Mark Briscoe to be in the Dan Callis family (I have such visions of Mark at all the fancy Don Callis stuff like a peak episode of the Beverly Hillbillies with extra violence) it is time for Mark to hold a title and this would be the time to do it. Briscoe wins.

Richard: This is a No DQ match so it means we have no reason not to have all 4,230,234,121,233.4283 members of the respective groups get involved in the match. Someone from the Thumb Collective will accidentally hit Kyle and that allows Mark get to the win. I am all in for the celebration on Wednesday night.

Mike: Mark Briscoe needs a big singles win and it should be him.

Darby Allin vs. Pac

Cory: Darby gets beaten by Pac for 15 minutes and pulls a victory out of nowhere.

Richard: I feel like Cory is looking at my notes when it comes to this match. I kind of miss 'No Pants Pac' as he transforms past Alex Ovechkin into Lincoln Hawk. I don't think we are getting a flaming table spot in this match so Darby gets the win.

Mike: Darby gets the win so he's ready for future AEW title shots.

Babes of Wrath (Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale) vs. Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart and Skye Blue) vs. Timeless Love Bombs (Mina Shirakawa and "Timeless" Toni Storm) vs. Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne

Cory: Obstacles have to be put in Toni and Mina’s path, so I see Shafir and Bayne winning this one to name the stipulation for their match, but I would be happy if Harley and Willow won after their promo on Dynamite about the different match ideas Harley has. Plus, we know Skye Blue wants to be the female equivalent of Moxley and have ultra violence in her matched. But, I stick to Bayne and Shafir to make them look unbeatable in the tournament.

Richard: I guess Tony was out of money to give the winning team in a multi-team tag match so the next best thing is to pick a stipulation for the winning team's semifinal match (and they should pick that they can't lose in the tournament). You could argue that any of these teams could win, but I would give it to one of the heel teams so they can make their opponent's life miserable in the next match. Bayne and Shafir get the win.

Mike: I love the Babes of Wrath but my gut says Toni and Mina win to pick some crazy stip.

Jon Moxley vs. Kyle O'Reilly

Cory: One thing I have to admit about Moxley with his post title run. He did not do what too many world champions do now, vanish for months after they lose (I hate that, by the way) and has been putting people over in hard fought matches. I would love it if he did that for Kyle in this match, but if he does nothing but lose, the Death Riders become a violent J.O.B. Squad. Kyle has gotten over on Moxley quite a few times lately, this time Moxley wins.

Richard: I was a little surprised that Kyle made Moxley tap out in Blood and Guts. Then Kyle has Mox in an ankle lock while the Sulky Brothers are kicking him but he is not releasing the hold. Mox has been on a losing streak so it would make sense for him to get the win. Is this the time that they send Kyle into the World title picture? If so, Kyle wins.

Mike: The right move is for Kyle to win, but I can easily see Moxley winning.

Boom & Doom ("Big Boom!" A.J. and Q. T. Marshall) (with Big Justice) vs. RPG Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta)

Cory: Another pre-show match with AJ, and this time he’s working with QT, so I must have missed a face turn by QT on Ring of Honor (I don’t have time to watch EVERYTHING). Trent’s heel turn and the reuniting of RPG Vice hasn’t made an impact, so they get to be the people who lose to the TikTok guy on the pre-show this time. Boom and Doom win.

Richard: Mortal enemies work together against a New Japan mainstay. No way AJ is losing. Over/under on the kid touching his chin is 42.5.

Mike: No way AJ is losing in JERSEY.

Max Caster and Anthony Bowens vs. Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson) vs. Big Bill and Bryan Keith vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd)

Cory: Another pre-show match. Caster and Bowens being forced to work together shows they are better as a team than solo, and it’s been the best “tag team that hates each other” in a good long time. While I’d rather see the Outrunners get the win, Caster and Bowens winning is the only thing that makes sense for their ongoing story.

Richard: SInce this is on the Tailgate special, this match is only for $200,000. I expect the Outrunners to win this because . . . why not.

Mike: I would assume the Acclaimed will win.
