The WWE is going through a resurgence right now. Medium ran a feature on the sport in 2024, citing the transition of wrestlers such as Roman Reigns from babyfaces to heels as a reason why record-breaking crowds are the new norm. Over in the UK, the national newspaper, The Independent, ran a similar story on its website in 2025.
In the story, Alex Pattle reported on the now historic WrestleMania 41. The event made history as the most successful in WWE’s history. Not only did it generate the biggest WWE gate of all-time after attracting 124,693 fans, but it was also the most-watched WrestleMania of all time. As well as viewers tuning in on TV, WrestleMania 41’s content hit 11 billion views across all social media platforms.
The popularity of wrestling is nothing new. Like all sports, it goes through phases of being hot and phases when it’s only hardcore fans who tune in. We’re currently in a hot phase, and that’s pushed the sport’s biggest stars into the mainstream. In the past, that’s led to some interesting innovations, including collectable figures, pinball machines, and board games. The recent resurgence of WWE has spawned another spinoff.
Developed by Games Global, the WWE Bonus Rumble: Gold Blitz™ slot was released in 2024. The five-reel slot was the first in a series of planned releases by Games Global following its licensing deal with WWE. The initial release features famous faces from years gone by, including the Undertakers and Stone Cold Steve Austin, as well as modern greats such as John Cena. These characters spin alongside WWE-themed slot symbols that unlock cash prizes, multipliers, and Gold Blitz™ super spins.
More WWE online slots will be released over the next three years. At that point, Games Global and WWE will reassess their deal and, in turn, whether we’re still in a hot enough phase to release more slots. From the casino gaming side, there’s certainly a market for branded slots. Every top-rated online casino contains hundreds of franchised slots, from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire to the Terminator. There are even live dealer casino games based on shows like Family Feud.

This long-held tradition of casino software providers taking inspiration from pop culture means we may see even more WWE products in the coming years. Games Global has got ahead of the curve, but others could follow. All for One and Fortune Factory have both created WWE-themed slots in the past. NetEnt is another software provider known for partnering with major brands to create themed slots.
If they’re going to strike when the iron is hottest, the time is now. The reach WWE has achieved across its social media channels is at an all-time high. This means WrestleMania 41 could be the start of more record-breaking events. Could we be in another golden era for wrestling? It certainly feels that way, and that can only be good news for fans who can’t get enough of the action.
