The family of George Tahinos, a famed wrestling photographer out of the Northeast who was also a long-time friend of everyone here at PWInsider.com announced that George passed away unexpectedly last week following a cardiac event at the age of 63.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden loss of our dear cousin, George Tahinos, on Sunday, Nov. 9 as the result of a fatal cardiac incident. George was predeceased by his parents, George and Pauline. He grew up in Wayne, NJ and was a 1980 graduate of Wayne Valley High School.
From an early age, George was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and a skilled photographer, which became his life’s work with the professional wrestling community. In his spare time, he was an enthusiastic New Jersey Devil’s fan and a talented amateur bowler. He was a regular at the Hollywood Bowl in Oakland, NJ, where he served as treasurer of the league.
While in recent years George had unfortunately become estranged from his immediate family, we know he had many friends and work associates who will mourn his loss. Please join us here in sharing your own memories of George, and please share the information of his passing to others who may not visit this page.
Details of a memorial for George, along with a Go Fund Me Page, will be posted here as soon as arrangements are finalized.
Tahinos shot photos in recent years for Paul Heyman's Heyman Hustle, Canada's Slam! Wrestling website and a number of international magazines. George was a regular fixture at WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, and countless other promotions in recent decades.
George had been a great friend to those of us here at PWInsider.com for decades. He was a great person and we will deeply miss George and his friendship.
Our deepest condolences go out to George's family and friends.
