It was announced tonight that the Rob Lake Magic show that opened on Broadway on 11/6 with special guests (and former WWE Raw Guest Hosts) The Muppets will be closing this Sunday 11/16, about two months earlier than scheduled. That's usually a sign that financially, producers didn't see hope for the show based on advance sales being flat.
During the show, Kermit The Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzy Bear, Animal, Rowlf The Dog and Gonzo make special guest appearances. The Muppets had never, ever appeared on Broadway, until this event..
The show will continue playing The Broadhurst Theater in NYC. It was brought in for the holiday season but is closing well before it was originally slated to end its run.
I was in attendance on opening night and it was fun 90 minute show with The Muppets appearing in multiple segments of the show. During the show, Lake noted that he was inspired by The Muppets growing up and it was a major dream for him to not only perform on Broadway but to bring The Muppets with him live on stage.
Tickets are available for the final shows at this link.
