Miranda Alize posted the following on her Instagram:
"The moment you start standing up for yourself, everything shifts. Suddenly you're the problem - not because you've changed, but because you're no longer letting them take advantage of you. They'll paint you as the villain, but that's okay because you're finally choosing yourself. This is where your freedorn begins."
The comments were made in the wake of Alize and her partner Nixon Newell turning down a three minute match where they would get beaten by Tay Melo and Anna Jay.
After PWInsider.com broke that story Saturday evening, Newell and Alize took to their Twitch account, commenting that they turned the match down because it wasn't "gonna be good for anyone in the match." They denied there was any argument or fighting over the decision (which was not something we reported) and that the interaction was "respectful" (even though there was no reporting that it was not) and that they were given permission to leave the taping. They stated that given the previous promo they were given on AEW TV, three minutes wasn't appropriate for the match. She noted they had cool ideas but when they learned it was three minutes, it wasn't going to be good for anyone involved. How a three minute squash wasn't going to be good for the team that was winning was never explained.
Newell also stated she was upset that it was reported she was "pounding beers" after they left, which obviously was never in PWInsider.com's reporting. The duo took issue with the report being made and claimed there was no disagreement, even though they opted not to do what they were booked to do, which is literally the definition of the word.
They also blamed the issue on the reporting, even though it was Alize who first made the situation quasi-public by tweeting they "had soooo much to say." and then re-tweeted comments from fans reacting to them not appearing on Collision.
Newell (who said this would be her last year in pro wrestling) did not go into further details, on their own platform speaking to their own fans, noting they had "receipts" and there "was a lot more to it, but we don't feel we have to, you know, do anything." So, if there was an issue with the actual reporting or the story being incorrect, they failed to actually address it or explain what the "real" story was.
