A recent proposal seeks to turn 1241 East Main Street in Stamford, CT, known for decades as the home of WWE, known as Titan Tower, into 84 upscale apartments, according to The Stamford Advocate.
Real estate firm MB Financial Group purchased the former WWE HQ for $3.75 Million with plans to convert the building into apartment space in January 2025.
The Advocate article noted the building's structure "would get a makeover, with a new exterior of limestone and aluminum being proposed." but the existing "curtain wall" of glass would remain." The plan has not yet been scheduled for review by Stamford's land-use agencies, so there is no timetable for this happening.
WWE moved into Titan Tower in 1985, when they acquired the building. Beyond housing the company's offices for many years, WWE has filmed many vignettes and a Super Bowl commercial at the Tower, even hosting an entire episode of Monday Night Raw from the Tower when a blizzard shut down the entire State of Connecticut. They also taped the 2020 Money in the Bank Ladder Matches in the Tower, sending talents all over the building en route to the roof, where the matches climaxed:
The building was built in 1981.
WWE moved into their new Global Headquarters in downtown Stamford in March 2023. WWE had simply outgrown the old Titan Tower building, which was considered by some we had spoken to within the company at the time to be technologically inferior to more modern buildings that have been built in recent years.
The move also allowed for every aspect of WWE to be under one roof for the first time in many years. When WWE was in Titan Tower, certain divisions of the company were housed in different buildings near the Tower, requiring the company to shuttle employees from place to place. WWE also had a crossing guard on hand to assist employees as they crossed from one building to another. At the time, company's production facilities were housed in another building a short drive away from Titan Tower. Now, everyone is under one roof.
While the WWE logo currently remains on the Tower, it has not flown the WWE or American flags in some time. The building had been pretty much gutted of all WWE office equipment a long time ago.
WWE's lease for the new Global HQ is for 16.5 years, with five five-year renewal options afterward. There's been no discussion of WWE potentially buying the building, at least at this time.
WWE signage has been removed from the former Titan Tower.
