10/27 WRESTLING OPEN: RHODE ISLAND LIVE REPORT

By Adam Cardoza on 2025-10-31 08:59:00

Wrestling Open RI

10/27/26 Cranston, RI

Spotlight Match: Oxx Adams vs Jake Gray

What did poor Jake Gray do wrong to get this matchup on the booking sheet? Gray starts fast and elusive but Adams goes full on Fee Fie Foe Fum, grabbing Jake and just bodies this kid with a press slam from the floor into the ring. Gray eats a lot of damage until he traps in a guillotine that slows the big man down. Jake starts to get rolling, dodging several lariats but gets caught in a huge black hole slam and Oxx picks up the three.

We kick off Open RI’s 30th episode with A-Game Joseph Alexander. This Thursday, he has a date with AEW’s Wheeler Yuta at Wrestling Open 200! This is a dream match for A-Game! He’s ready to show Yuta what the new generation of Open/Beyond has to offer. Cue DJ POWERS. Oh great. DJ says “what about MY dream match?”. Powers wants respect. He wants to challenge A-Game tonight for the right to face Yuta. Alexander isn’t dressed to compete. DJ doesn’t care. It’s on! He blindsides A-Game as a ref runs down to make a match out of this!

Match 1: DJ Powers vs A-Game Joseph Alexander

Powers with a claymore at the bell and almost gets the three right away. This is bleak for A-Game. Powers stays on his attack for the next several minutes. Alexander looking more and more beat as DJ is wearing him down. A-Game finally landing some knees but gets roped into a stiff superkick that flattens him. Powers goes for a splash but A-Game gets the knees up…Powers gets trapped in that Yuta special seatbelt pin and stays there for the three! Alexander leaves victorious but Powers is having a bit of a meltdown in the ring from the loss.

Match 2: Wonderboy Brian Morris vs Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball)

I love me this new Marbury theme. Morris, less so. Wonderboy tries to bully Marbury but he’s getting dodged and juked to death. A big slam doesn’t stop the latest fake cowboy, and Morris tries to go on a tear of beating and humiliating Marbury. Morris tries on Marbury’s eye protection but gets them sprung right into his eyes! Jermaine hits the Kobe! He goes for the finish but Morris dodges the top rope dive and rolls him up with a fistful of tights for the win. Boooooooo! Marbury is so distraught that he seemingly abandons Benny at ringside. Nooo!

Match 3: Dustin Waller vs Mani Ariez

In another universe, this could be a start to finish banger. But Dustin Waller is a huge weenie now and gets under Ariez skin with his motivation to NOT fight. Mani isn’t putting up with this but Waller gets a shot in on the knee, dropping his bigger opponent. Dustin goes to work on the limb to the point that Mani can barely get to his feet. Mani trying to rally back but his knee is really preventing him from getting anything going. Dustin staying laser focused, hitting a moonsault to the knee and stretching it hard with a crab. Dustin briefly loses focus to taunt the crowd a little…and Mani rolls him up for the three! It’s certainly a night for disbelieving reality, Dustin is fighting the result! But he’s still a loser.

Match 4: The Residency (RJ Rude & Nick Robles w/ Rex Lawless) vs Big Business (Big Bacon Brad Hollister & TJ Crawford)

It’s been a minute since Bacon has been in the ring and TJ Crawford has been popping off again, setting up an IWTV title match at Novembercanrana. Before they handle the Residency? Bacon throws out a challenge to THE RIGHTEOUS for that same show. Bacon and Doug are more than happy to put another big win on the big business ledger. Ring the bell. Nick and RJ are just getting steamrolled by Brad and TJ. Rex offers a distraction that lets RJ sends Brad hard into the bottom rope. RJ grabs the mic and sings about TJ losing to Clancy at Rana and that sets the silver sniper off. Bacon gets the tag to TJ. Crawford just destroying Nick and RJ with kicks. Rex comes in with a spear but Bacon throws himself in the line of fire! The Residency is DQ’d but they keep the beatdown going. The match with Clancy is VERY MUCH in Crawford’s brain.

Match 5: Shannon LaVangie (w/ Liviyah) vs …The Scream Ghost?

No really…whoever this is, they are dressed in the Scream outfit. Ref Scotty has to take their knife away before the match. The Ghost has Shannon uneasy but she is quickly unmasked….its Gabby Forza!!! It’s Spooky Gnome season! Shannon eats a press slam but won’t stay down. Shannon with a big dive to the floor but Gnomie hits a  apron powerbomb. Her friendship with Liv is VERY much over for the moment as they are jawing with eat other at ringside. Shannon getting pummeled with more tosses and slams. She stuns Gabby with a codebreaker but can’t really string more than a couple moves before suffering another big slam. Shannon escapes a last ride with a code red! Shannon tries a rana but Gnomie hits a jackhammer for the win. Liv comes in the ring and asks Gabby to hit her back after last Thursday. Gabby winds up….but doesn’t give Liv the satisfaction. She promises to hit Liv harder than she’s even been hit in her life…this Thursday as Wrestling Open 200!

Match 6: Bear Bronson vs Marcus Mathers

Bear has promised to take Clancy’s IWTV title away…and tonight, he’s planning to make hit case by beating the same man Clancy dethroned last week to win that title. The crowd is very split on this one. Marcus tries to keep the attack on and Bear guessing…and it’s successful for a bit. Marcus WAS champ for nearly 10 months! But Bear is big and mad and highly focused. He finally gets his paws on the kid and squashes him with a drop down seated senton. Bronson bringing strikes and chops to the party as we hit the halfway point of this ten minute contest. Mathers dodges a flying elbow drop! A rebound cross body! Stunner! German! Mathers is giving Bear all he can handle! He tries another stunner but Bear hits a ripcord lariat and that elbow drop connects this time! Mathers kicks out! Sitout chokebomb! Mathers kicks out! He has a few desperate last gasp chops but Bear just throws him over his head. Mathers hits a cutter! Kick out! Bear rolls to the floor and Marcus with a beautiful dive! We have less than a minute left! Bear hits a lariat! Both guys are swinging at each other from the mat as time expires. The bell rings but they are still brawling!

Fancy Ryan Clancy runs out to break this up! Neither one of these guys wants Fancy in this mix. Bear shoves Clancy and sends him into Mathers. Fancy and Marcus are head to head and needing to be broken apart as Bear walks off.

Main Event: All the Attention (Nick Batee & Jose Zamora) vs Mythical Ones (Ichiban & Brando Lee) (Eliminator Cup Semi Final)

Who is punching their ticket to the finals?!? Jose Zamora is having a tough time with Ichiban to kick this off. Likewise with Nick and Lee. Zamora saves Nick from an early pin, almost suffering the same embarrassment that BRG & Oxx faced in the opening round against the Ones. ATA definitely working their numbers against Ichiban and trying to keep him isolated from

Brando. A near tag? Lee is ripped off the apron. Ichiban struggles back from Being dropped on the outside and finally gets the tag out! Brando with a damn Styles clash to Nick on top of Zamora!!! Sick spot. Lee misses a cannonball! Zamora with a springboard Legdrop as Ichiban eats an apron PK! Ichiban back in! Big DVD/Splash/Moonsault super combo to Zamora to get the win! Ichiban and Lee are going to the finals!!!
