Major League Wrestling was back in Long Beach, California back on Youtube for "MLW Symphony of Horrors", in a sold out Thunder Studios Arena.
MLW's been on a run of quality shows with the last 3 all being very good. This was recorded after the live Chamber of Horrors event on Oct 4.
Joe Dombrowski and "Filthy" Tom Lawlor on commentary.
Blue Panther retained the MLW National Openweight championship in a 3 Way bout with fellow long, long, long time veteran Atlantis and Rugido.
Relied heavily on Panther and Atlantis being so beloved in Southern California. Slowest moving 3 Way match I've seen in a long time.
Shotzi Blackheart defeated the debuting young rising star Britnee Brooks in a Lightning match with just under 3 min left in the 10 min time limit. This was fine. Hard work from both. A good debut for Brooks, who's appeared on TNA tv this year so her stock is rising. Blackheart is attacked in the back hallways by Priscilla Kelly, who she faces in Charleston next month.
Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows--The Good Brothers--will be making their MLW debuts at the Nov 20 event in Charleston, SC. They're targeting World tag champions the Skyscrapers.
Very good promo from Brock Anderson, challenging World champion Mads Krugger to a Bunkhouse match in Charleston, wanting to avenge his partner, CW Anderson, after the Chamber of Horrors match at MLW Slaugherhouse earlier in Oct (or an hour ago in real time). Best promo of his young career.
MLW's newest signee, "Divebomb" Diego Hill got the biggest win of his MLW run, winning a 5 Way Scramble over former Tag champion Okumura, another former Tag champion Ikuro Kwon of Contra, and CMLL stars and teammates Magnus and Stigma. All action, fast paced bout. Interesting to see the heel Kwon and normally fan favorite Okumura work together so much against Hill. This was fun and the show is picking up.
With Alexander Hammerstone--who has problems with everyone in this match--sitting in unscheduled on commentary, The Skyscrapers (Bishop Dyer, Donovan Dijak) defended the World tag titles against the odd team of World champion Mads Krule Krugger of Contra and former champ and rival, the freshly heel turned Matt Riddle. Riddle seems out of place working heel. He looks like he's "playing heel". There is about 2 mins of a sanctioned match as they were brawling around the ring before the match for a long time before finally getting in the ring and getting the bell. I did notice Riddle going after a fan while fighting on the ramp with Dyer. Court needs to get him together quickly. Riddle spills to the floor and picks a fight with Hammerstone, who rocks him, getting the Skyscrapers disqualified. That was followed by more brawling between Hammerstone and Riddle with the 'Scrapers double teaming Krugger, who no-sold a chokeslam through a table and held his own fighting the champions by himself. Krugger might be an unusual choice for a top face but they are severely lacking in that department so he's it practically by default. Why his guy Kwon never helps him in these is a glaring oversight.
Kwon is in an alley, looking to challenge Templario for the World Middleweight title in Charleston and carrying on with the Don Gato tequila guy. That's like feuding with Ronald McDonald to me but okay. The promo was good.
Templario beats back a game challenge to the Middleweight title from fellow CMLL star, the veteran Virus. Good match. Virus is another old guy from CMLL but he's got some gas left in the tank and he's putting over a younger guy in Templario. Fine.
Intense video package on the return of Killer Kross. He returns at the Charleston event.
Advancing to the finals of the Opera Cup 2025 tournament, CMLL's Volador Jr (with Magnus and Rugido) got an upset win over 2 time former World champion Satoshi Kojima (with Okumura). This wasn't a good match but the rampant cheating by the rudos got that Long Beach crowd hot. They were doing so much, Okumura not doing anything made it seem like he was setting up for a heel turn on his tag partner. Kojima makes a comeback but Magnus and Rugido pull the referee out of the ring before he can finish a count. How that's not a dq? I can't answer. Worst heel spot in wrestling.
They show a HEATED argument between Paul London and Paul Walter Hauser. I'm not interested in PWH wrestling but they are hitting the exact right note on how hot this is. It really comes across like two friends falling all the way out.
Austin Aries has clearly missed being on a big platform and has been insane on the mic and in the ring, this time in the main event in a losing effort in the Opera Cup semi finals against CMLL superstar, Mistico. This was really good, getting off to a hot start and never cooling off in a competitive, back and forth battle. Mistico overcame Aries' incredible effort and some attempted slick work with some knuckledusters to win, earning the second spot in the Cup finals. He will face Volador Jr in an all-CMLL finals in Charleston.
A good show. A step down from the previous two but the main event nearly closed the gap.
