10/22 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2025-10-22 22:22:00

It’s Wednesday and AEW Dynamite, live from the Boeing Center at TechPort in San Antonio, TX, and our commentary team is Excalibur and Bryan Danielson.

The show starts with a rundown of tonight’s card, and then a video of highlights from WrestleDream.

We then get a video of Hangman Adam Page reacting after WrestleDream in the trainer’s room, saying when he finds Samoa Joe, he will ruin his life.

The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs) – AEW Trios Champions vs. The Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin)

All six men face off in the ring before the bell, and then Shibata and Shelton start with side headlocks and then running the ropes. Shelton gets an ankle lock and Shibata counters out of it, and they keep trying for submissions. Bobby tags in and Hobbs tags in as well. Joe tags himself in, and Bobby drops him with a punch. Bobby beats down Joe in the corner. Joe reverses a whip to the corner and then charges into him. The second time, Bobby dodges Joe’s charge and faceplants him.

Shelton is tagged in and goes to the top. Joe avoids the leap from the top, and Hobbs tags in and clotheslines Shelton over the top. Everyone knocks the next person to the floor, and this leaves Joe in the corner where Shelton gets a big knee strike. Hobbs returns to the ring and gets a powerslam on Shelton, and Joe follows with a senton on Shelton as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Shibata is beating down Shelton in the corner, and then Joe tags in and takes over with jabs. Joe grabs a rear chinlock. Shelton works out of it, and Joe stomps him down. Shelton fights out of it and they throw hands. Shelton gets a DDT and the hot tag to Bobby.

Bobby runs wild, with Shibata tagging in to take his attacks. Bobby gets a face-front slam for two, with Hobbs breaking it up. Hobbs and Bobby throw hands, and Bobby tries for a Hurt Lock. Hobbs backs them into the corner, and then they knock each other to the mat. Shibata gets a PK on Bobby for two.

MVP and Joe tag in, and MVP gets a faceplant to Joe on his knee, followed by the Ballin’ elbow for two, broken up by Shibata. Now everyone gets a big move on the last person in the ring, and in the end, we’re back to Joe and MVP, and Joe gets a Coquina Clutch. MVP gets out of it with a jawbreaker. Ricochet gets on the apron to distract MVP, allowing Joe to get the Coquina Clutch again, and MVP has to tap out.

Winners and still AEW Trios Champions: The Opps

The Hurt Syndicate charge up the ramp after Ricochet.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and asks why he and The Opps beat down Adam Page after their match Saturday. Joe says it is a pleasure to be in San Antonio and then calls the women there fat. Joe says the reason he did it is that as long as there is a champion, Joe will be coming for them. He then cuts an old-school heel promo, including mocking the local sports teams.

We then get video of Mercedes Moné arriving at the arena in a high-end car and a bunch of men carrying her titles.

We then see Renee Paquette with Kris Statlander. Kris says she doesn’t need a celebration because she looks to the future. She then says that she has beaten Toni Storm twice and Moné hasn’t been able to do it once. She then accepts Moné’s challenge for a title match at Full Gear.

We get a really nice ad for DC Comics’ miniseries KO in the ad break, complete with the creative team named. I am happy about that.

Darby Allin comes to the stage to stand in the spotlight. He then comes to the ring with an AEW flag and a mic. He says that before he climbed Mount Everest, it was irresponsible because if he got killed, it would be bad PR. Darby says they are wrong because he is willing to go anywhere for AEW. He is wearing the scars from his match with Jon Moxley from their match Saturday, and as long as the Death Riders are breathing, he will not be far behind.

We then get a video from Jurassic Express to explain why they are back together, and Jack Perry says this is about reclamation, and they will take back their name, their reputation, and their tag team titles.

Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford vs. Julia Hart & Skye Blue vs. Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale vs. Queen Aminata & Jamie Hayter

Winners: Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata

Jamie grabs a mic and says the Sisters of Sin will be their opponents.

The Bucks are outside Tony Khan’s office demanding a money match. Renee asks what is next for them, and they say they don’t know because they are broke. Tony then comes out and says if they fight Jurassic Express and Jetspeed for $400k, they have to team up with FTR.

Renee is in the ring for Mercedes Moné’s celebration, and after the belts are brought in… Mini Moné shows up to celebrate. Moné then shows up and tells the men holding her belts to go to the back. She then tells Renee to get out of her ring. This leaves Mini Moné, and Moné asks Harley what the hell she is doing. She heels the crowd for mocking her. She then tells Harley she is pathetic for mocking her.

Moné says tonight is about her and it is her celebration. We then see the cake in the shot quite prominently. Moné says she is tired of the disrespect and if they want to laugh at something, laugh at this. Moné shoves Mini Moné into the cake, then pulls Harley out from under the table. This brings out Kris Statlander from under the table as well, who puts Moné on her shoulders and puts Moné through the cake and the table.

We then get Jon Moxley’s pre-taped promo after he lost at WrestleDream. He says tomorrow, they get back to work. He then says that anyone who thinks they can pull it off should be ready for the Death Riders—with a lot of Mox weirdness in the promo.

The Conglomeration have a new entrance video that looks like the opening of a sitcom.

Kyle O’Reilly vs. Jon Moxley (w/ Marina Shafir)

The Conglomeration come to the stage with him and then go to the back as he goes to the ring.

When we return to full screen, Roddy has been the babyface in peril through the break. Cassidy gets the hot tag and cleans house. Let’s face it, he’s too slow to run wild. When Cassidy dives to the floor, Briscoe works over Yuta and Claudio. Mark cleans house until everyone is on the floor, and then he leaps from the top with a corkscrew onto everyone on the floor. Briscoe gets a fisherman’s buster on Yuta for two. Garcia interrupts Briscoe’s Jay Driller and it’s time for everyone to get a big move on the last person in the ring.

It ends with the Death Riders all getting a big move on Briscoe until they cover him for two. As everyone brawls on the floor, Yuta gets the hammer-and-anvil elbows on Briscoe. Briscoe fights out of Cattle Mutilation and hits a lariat and a Jay Driller for the pin and the win over Yuta.

Everyone is brawling in the ring until Darby shows up with a bat and nails Claudio. Cassidy gets an Orange Punch on Claudio, and the Death Riders retreat.

Alicia Atout is in the back to interview Moné, who is furious. Athena shows up to tell her they need to go for the tag team titles. This calms Moné and they leave.

In the ring, Kyle Fletcher is with Don Callis, and Kyle brags about beating Mark Briscoe on Saturday. Mark Briscoe interrupts. Briscoe says that he is here to retort, and he wants a rematch. Don whispers in Kyle’s ear and then says that Briscoe is a great wrestler, but he’s sounding desperate. He knows that Briscoe has a financial burden as a family man, but he needs a family like the Don Callis Family. He then says Briscoe will not get his rematch.

Renee is with Mina Shirakawa after the reveal of the women’s tag team brackets. She says she hasn’t heard from Toni Storm, but they will win the tournament. Thekla shows to mock her, and Mina challenges her to a match on Collision. Thekla obliges her.
