Nick Battee replaces previously announced Jariel Rivera as Brando Lee’s opponent in tonight’s Spotlight match. This is a massive upgrade imo. Good back and forth match, Lee with a double stomp, rolling dvd, swanton sequence picks up the three!
The Rude & Lawless Residency (RJ Rude & Rex Lawless) is back to take on Wrench & Resolve (Jake Gray & Erik Chacha) in our show opener. High energy clash here, Chacha takes a lot of punishment while Gray is firing up. Crowd is packing in and pretty hot already. It’s gonna be one of those kind of nights. Gray with the tag, Rude getting run over! Rex tries to wipe him out but he’s sent to the floor and a boot from Chacha drops the big man. Jake with a jackknife pin on Rude gets the three and they get out of there before a furious Residency attacks them post match.
Katrina Creed takes on Shannon LaVangie next. Honestly, a pretty hard hitting match. Katrina almost puts her down with a page turner but Shannon rallies and hits a cutter for the win.
DJ Powers is here to settle his new feud with Bog Boofa Dezmond Cole. It’s wild how much Worcester has clearly missed this dude. Cole puts DJ through the wringer early but a missed yakuza kick sends boofa flying and Powers spends time capitalizing. Boofa rallies back and should have it wrapped up but DJ gets the knees up with 30 seconds left and they both barely recover when the time limit expires. It’s a draw! The crowd wants five more minutes. DJ says he has nothing to prove and walks off.
It’s Discovery Gauntlet time. Tyler Hastings is here to attempt to finally dethrone Christian Darling from becoming the first DG participant to hit 7 wins since Thomas Santell. Tyler is a bit of a goof. He might be more of a dweeb than we accuse Darling of being. CD is motivated and giving a lot of punishment to Hastings. Tyler with a high knee flattens Darling! Are we about to see a changing of the guard? Christian evades a a 450 and hits a TKO. This should be it but he pulls the pin and hits another TKO for the three. He just tied the record and hops on the mic to taunt Worcester about it. Darling is sick of the disrespect. He’s even mad that Rich Palladino didn’t announce the match. He’s calling his shot. After next week and his expected victory, he’s calling his shot. He wants BOBBY ORLANDO. He has one more match to get that spot.
Good lord it’s time for the Stetson Ranch. Steven Stetson and Wonderboy Brian Morris are here to fight TJ Crawford and Eye Black Jack. Stetson and Jack are headed to the finals of the Jumbo Grand Prix so this will be a little preview of how that might go. Stetson doesn’t want Jack early so Morris gets caught in the early flurries. Crawford tags in but the Ranch’s less than legal tactics start to take over and TJ is stuck in the mud. Crawford finally escapes Stetson’s clutch and gets the hot tag to Jack! EBJ in like fire but the Ranch quickly cools him down with more double team BS. TJ makes the save! Big brawl as everyone tries to wrap this up. Stetson thinks he’s about to hit the North Jersey Lariat on TJ but Jack spears him! Silver bullets for both and TJ throws Morris to Jack for the big uranage to get the win! Thats some good momentum heading into the finals!
It’s time for Rain Conway to be murdered by the debuting Will Kroos. That is precisely what happens. A pounce almost puts Rain into the brick wall. A rikishi driver ends this mercifully in two minutes. Kroos says he didn’t come here for two minute sprints. Music hits: TYREE TAYLOR HAS RETURNED TO WRESTLING OPEN! A huuuuuuuuuge pop from the crowd. He cuts a promo on how his recovery from injury was a dark time but he heard Kroos calling himself the best heavyweight. Tyree wants to contest that notion. This is awwwwwwesome. Kroos gladly shakes Taylor’s hand. Tyree says “bring EVERYTHING you got”. What a good moment!
I’m spent but we got an I Quit match to close the night out. BRG is here with Oxx Adams to take on Fancy Ryan Clancy. I forgot we have some kind of story here where I guess BRG got with Clancy’s ex. It is what it is. Clancy starts strong but Oxx quickly clubs him with a chair. Clancy doesn’t quit though. BRG and Clancy fight out to the bar but it ends up back in the ring with Clancy getting hit and choked with a chair again. Oxx stays out of the mix and lurks on the floor as Clancy and Brett beat and choke each other with chairs and belts. Clancy finally traps BRG in the corner, Gosselin is forced to admit he never got with Clancy’s ex. He got FRIEND ZONED. <blink> Oxx attacks again but Clancy gets the big man up and piledrives him cold. BRG is trapped and Clancy wraps up a butterfly choke and Brett has to squeak out a weepy “I Quit” to end our main event. Huuuuuuuge pop! This was a blast.
