Billy Krotchsen sent the following notes regarding Kota Ibushi's injury.
I was in the second row, so I saw the injury play out in front of me on the opposite side of the ring from where I was sitting.
Josh Alexander and Kota Ibushi were having a fun competitive bout. They battled on the top when Alexander pulled up Ibushi on his shoulders in a Fireman's Carry position. As they were in that position, they slipped backwards with both toppling to the floor. It was a freak thing and obviously no one's fault from my perspective.
Ibushi fell forward first, almost like a forward bump downward and landed awkwardly. Alexander fell backwards over the ropes, hit the apron and landed on the floor, but of the two Ibushi's seemed far less controlled and rougher. The referee checked on both and Ibushi was leaning against the barricade on his knees, touching his upper right leg. He rolled over on his side as AEW medical checked on him. Ibushi was quickly counted out with Alexander getting the win. Don Callis started cutting a promo, which led to Kenny Omega charging out with a trash can and clearing the ring of Alexander and Mark Davis.
It was just an unfortunate freak thing.
