NEW IWGP JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION CROWNED: 10/6 NJPW ROAD TO KING OF PRO WRESTLING RESULTS FROM TOKYO, JAPAN

By James Kurokawa on 2025-10-06 18:49:00

From Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

1 - Jado and El Phantasmo vs. Katsuya Murashima and Hiroshi Tanahashi

Tanahashi pins Jado after a High Fly Flow.

2 - Clark Conners and Drilla Moloney vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru and SANADA

SANADA leaves the ring, while Moloney holds his guitar.   SANADA takes the count out loss.   War Dogs win.

After the match, Moloney demands a no DQ, no count out match with SANADA next week at King of Pro Wrestling.

3 - Tiger Mask, KUUKAI, Toru Yano and Boltin Oleg vs. Dick Togo, SHO, Don Fale and EVIL

SHO pins Tiger Mask after hitting Shock Arrow.

EVIL attacks Tiger Mask after the match.   Oleg tries to make the save but EVIL hits him with a low blow.   House of Torture lays out everyone.  EVIL cuts a promo on Tiger Mask and Oleg, and promises to take the NEVER Openweight Championship from Oleg.

4 - Titan, Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji vs. Gedo, Taiji Ishimori, David Finlay and Gabe Kidd

Takahashi hits a pumphandle slam into a knee smash on Gedo and gets a pin.

After the match, Kidd and Tsuji fight into the bleachers.

5 - Shota Umino vs. OSKAR

Umino hits a Second Chapter on OSKAR and gets the pin.

6 - Yuya Uemura vs. Yuto-Ice

In 2021, when both men were young lions, Uemura faced off in the ring against  Yuto Nakashima.   Yuto dislocated his elbow one minute into the match.   Yuto was legitimately angry at the time at Uemura and suffered permanent damage to his arm.   They are smartly going back to this incident, which makes the IWGP Tag Team Championship match more important.

Yuto took the match to the floor, throwing Uemura into the chairs.  Yuto grabbed a table and hit a running knee strike into Uemura's head.  Yuto hit the table with such force that his knee went through the table.  Uemura fights back.   They trade blows and strikes.   Uemura goes for a cross arm breaker.  Yuto gouges at Uemura's eye to break the hold.

Yuto blocks the Deadbolt and hits a lariat.  Yuto with a suplex.  Uemura with German suplex.  Yuto hits a punt kick to the chest.  Uemura goes for another cross arm breaker.   Uemura releases the hold, showing some compassion for what happened in the past.

Yuto spits at Uemura and tells him "F**k you!".    Uemura hits a Deadbolt Suplex and applies a hammerlock submission.   Yuto taps out.

Good match.

New Japan does not do long term feuds well, but this is one that could go for years.  Yuto's hatred for Uemura and Uemura's guilt over what happened years ago could be cultivated into a extended story.  Especially with Yuto in Bullet Club and Uemura in Hontai.

7 - IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship:  El Desperado vs. DOUKI

Another good match.   DOUKI went after Desperado's neck.   DOUKI was getting some cheers from the Korakuen Hall crowd.    DOUKI traps Desperado in the Italian Stretch No. 32, which is now called The Darkness Stretch.   Desperado gets the ropes.   Desperado hits a Spine Buster, a back suplex and a brain buster.  Desperado hits Guitarra de Angel.   Two count.  Desperado hits a leg whip and applies a Stretch Muffler and goes for Numero Dos.    SHO pulls out the referee.    KUUKAI goes to stop SHO, but SHO hits him in the head with a wrench.  SHO is about to hit Desperado but Desperado hits a right punch to SHO's jaw.

DOUKI tries to hit Desperado with his pipe, but Desperado blocks it and takes the pipe away and hits DOUKI in the head twice.  Desperado hits Pinche Loco.   No referee in sight.   SHO pulls the referee to the floor.  SHO hits Desperado in the head with a metal plate.  DOUKI puts Desperado in the Darkness Stretch.  SHO smashes Desperado in the head repeatedly with the metal plate.   SHO throws the referee in the ring.

Desperado is out cold.  Referee stops the match.   DOUKI wins.

DOUKI wins the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion.

DOUKI holds both the top championships in the Jr. Division.

It is ironic that the Korakuen Crowd wanted DOUKI to just wrestle Desperado, but he is with the House of Torture.   The interference by SHO just made the crowd crap on the match and the end result.    SHO pissed off the fans even more by his promo.   KUUKAI and Desperado will face DOUKI and SHO for the IWGP Jr. Tag Titles next week.   I could see the tag belts switching there, heading into Super Jr. Tag League.
