Spotlight Match: Jake Gray beats Tyler Jordan after getting pummeled with lots of big man tosses and slams….but a missile dropkick got the W for the handyman.
Match 1: Oxx Adams vs Fancy Ryan Clancy
Oxx is here without BRG. This pleases us. If he wins, BRG gets to pick the stipulation against Clancy next week. Clancy goes right for the big man, slapping his right in the face. Oxx gives Clancy a lot of heavy punishment. Clancy trying to fight back but the fight spills to the floor and Adams is having his way. Oxx tosses Clancy back into the ring at 8…but Ryan pops up with a dropkick that sends Oxx off the apron to get the Countout win!
Clancy has a stipulation for BRG: NEXT WEEK ITS GONNA BE “I QUIT”!
Match 2: Christian Darling vs Bobby Casale (Discovery Gauntlet)
Can the dweeb survive the challenge of Casale, who kinda looks like a young Lou Ferrigno? Casale has a MMA background and he’s planning to put Darling to sleep. Christian takes it right to Casale and tries to show why he’s been holding down this spot for weeks. Casale with a huge spinebuster and almost puts Darling to sleep but he errantly dives into the shoulders and eats a TKO and a three. Christian Darling is here for the 6th straight week. Next week, he plans to tie the DG record set by Thomas Santell. And when he breaks it? He gets a title shot.
Match 3: Wonderboy Brian Morris vs A-Game Joseph Alexander
Solid match between these two. I missed the last match they had but Alexander is clearly looking for some payback. He almost has the win with a flying knees but Morris ducks it. Several back and forth rollup attempts winds up in a tumbleweed of pinfalls…and A-Game finally gets the leverage for the three!
Match 4: Nick Robles vs Jermaine Marbury
Marbury has new music. Go Jermaine Go Jermaine Go! Robles hates that this is so catchy and tortures us and Marbury with his stupid cowbell. They eventually get into a fight over it, Marbury uses the cowbell as a distraction and hits a juke neckbreaker for the three! That was a lot of match to get to this one spot.
Match 5: Giorgio Lawrence (w/ DJ Powers) vs Big Boofa Dezmond Cole
BOOFA IS BAAAAACK! He’s being introduced to the moist boys, if he is unfamiliar with their humidity. Boofa showing off all the things we’ve missed from him but Lawrence has some surprises for Cole. DJ offers a leg pull and a hard knee starches Dezmond. Lawrence unloading everything he’s got. Boofa rallies back, stops DJ from interfering again and puts Lawrence away with a swanton. This was a 9min match and honestly? A lot of fun.
Boofa isn’t done with the moist boys from water country. He offers a shot at redemption to DJ Powers for next week! Powers accepts!
Match 6: Joe Ocasio (w/ Rain Conway) vs Eye Black Jack (JGP Semi Finals)
I was away and missed all of the Jumbo Grand Prix opening block matches. Ocasio and Jack won their respective blocks so here we are: New School and BIOPro colliding! Ocasio offers a spot to Jack in his cult but EBJ refuses. Joe on the attack but gets sent flying. Rain tries to distract Jack but EBJ is ready for it! But he wasn’t ready for the SECOND distraction! Hard whips, strikes and chokes try to grind this kid down. A few wince inducing punts to the ribs start to make this uncomfortable. Joe landing high vertical splashes over and over. He’s not looking to pin Jack, he’s looking to break him. Jack with an AA out of nowhere but he can’t make the pin. Jack firing up. He hits the powerslam! Spear! Ocasio kicks out! Jack with a springboard but Joe blasts a headbutt to the spine! Kick out! Joe tries to get an assist from Raine again but Brad Hollister runs down from commentary and stops this! EBJ hits a spear and the uranage to pin a shocked Ocasio, punching his ticket to the Finals!!!
Main Event: Steven Stetson vs Sammy Diaz (JGP Semi Finals)
On the other two blocks, Diaz and Stetson ruled the division. Now it’s time to see who joins Eye Black Jack in the final round. These two have a ton of chemistry with each other and the crowd definitely CARES who wins and loses here. They have a great match here, highly competitive and exciting…but in true Steven Stetson fashion, he removes the buckle leading to sending Sammy into the exposed hook and a north jersey lariat puts top five down. Right until the end, this was a blast.
Eye Black Jack is out here. He puts Stetson over as the most dangerous he’s been…but he keeps resorting to this BS to win. Jack recognizes that Stetson has the ranch…but he has friends too. And next week? Jack is taking home the whole tournament. They get into a scuffle but Stetson scurries away before Jack can put a cherry on top.
