Welcome to PWInsider.com's TNA Impact on AXS TV report!
We opened up with a recap of everything that went down at Victory Road last week.
Mike Santana arrived at the venue in Edmonton. Santino Marella informed him TNA has made the call that he and TNA Champion Trick Williams are banned from getting physically involved outside of sanctioned matches. Santana asked what was he supposed to do if Williams put his hands on him. Santino said he wouldn't blame Santana for defending himself but he doesn't want the Bound for Glory PPV main event jeopardized. Santana said that he understands.
TNA International Champion Frankie Kazarian came out for The King's Speech. He bragged about beating Steve Maclin for the title at the PPV and said he deserves to be applauded for it. The crowd chanted that he sucks. He said the International title is the most important title in TNA. There's Trick Williams, who's a star but not a king. Kazarian then commented on The Hardy Boyz, knocking them a extreme punchdrunk marks. He said Leon Slater couldn't carry the company into the future the way Kazarian did when he was X-Division Champion.
He introduced new Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan as Matt Rehwoldt and Tom Hannifan noted Ash by Elegance needed to step away from the ring. The crowd chanted NXT, which Jordan led. A little weird, since she's the captain of Team TNA at Showdown but this was taped before that was announced, so judges will forgive it. Kaz said all the nasty TNA Knockouts claimed she won the belt on a fluke. Jordan said she's never been a fluke in her life, running down her accolades. The crowd chanted for NXT. Kazarian said we all know the initials and turned it into a claim that Trick Williams was only champion, because he fought Joe Hendry, not Kazarian.
TNA Champion Trick Williams came out on the stage. He said that he likes Kazarian but when Trick's name is said, it should be with respect. Williams has beaten the best TNA has to offer. If Kazarian is the King, Williams is the Emperor. Kaz said he puts in the years Frankie did, then they can debate heirachy. He said Kazarian is a second rate champion in a second rate business with second rate talent. He said if Mike Santana touches him unprovoked, their title bout at the PPV will be canceled. TNA needs Trick Williams. He's the reason TNA is on fire. He said it's not because of Santana, Leon Slater or The Hardys.
TNA Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy came out. Big pop and chant for him. He said they are trash talking the TNA stars to make themselves feel better. He said the company is on fire because of the current champions. He said they aren't good at reading the room. They are in Edmonton, TNA country. The crowd chanted for TNA. They asked where Jeff was and Kazarian said he wishes he wasn't allowed in this dump of a country. Out came X-Division Champion Leon Slater. He's not going to stay in the back and let them talk bad about TNA or the Hardys. Jeff isn't here but he is. He will stand by Matt Hardy's side every day of the week. Williams warned Slater to mind his business.
Kelani Williams said she was the guest here and wanted to get back to business. She warned Indi Hartwell she was going to take care of business at Bound for Glory. Hartwell came out and said Kelani has never fought anyone like her. She will accomplish her dream of becoming Knockouts Champion.
Kazarian said he was tired of people coming out and no one called for any of them. He demanded they all leave. Out came Santino Marella. He said Bound for Glory is over a week away but he needs a match for tonight. He made a mixed six person tag team match after the break.
TNA Champion Trick Williams & TNA Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan & TNA International Champion Frankie Kazarian vs. X-Division Champion Leon Slater & Matt Hardy & Indi Hartwell
Mike Santana joined the announcers.
Hartwell and Jordan started out, going back and forth with pinfall attempts. Jordan tagged out to Kazarian, who shoved Hartwell towards her partners. She slugged him and grabbed him in an armwringer. Hardy tagged in and came off the ropes with an axehandle to the arm. He used a pumphandle on Kazarian and double-teamed the International Champion with Slater. Slater rained down with punches in the corner. Hartwell tagged in and nailed a series of clotheslines on Jordan.
Kazarian grabbed Hartwell's leg as she rebounded off the ropes. That allowed Kelani to take control and drill her with a series of knees to the back. Slater tagged in and nailed some high level offense against Williams including a handspring elbow. Muta would have liked it. The crowd chanted for Slater. Kazarian nailed a guillotine legdrop to turn the tide, allowing Williams to work Slater as they went to commercial. When they returned, Williams had Slater in a full nelson. Kazarian went to nail the X-Division champ but he ducked, allowing Williams to eat the punch. Hardy tagged in to a big pop and nailed a running clothesline in the corner. Hardy nailed a SideEffect on Williams. Kazarian tried to get involved but Hardy took them both out. Big Delete chant. Williams nailed a leg lariat and tagged out to Kaz.
Kaz went for a chicken wing, but Slater got involved. Kazarian caught him with a cutter as he flew in. Indi and Jordan got involved. Jordan knocked her to the floor. Everyone battled around the ring. Slater missed a splash in the corner. Hardy pulled Williams out of the ring, where he ended up nose to nose with Santana. Williams talked trash and dared Santana to touch him. Hardy whipped Kazarian into Williams, who was flung back into Santana. Soooo, technically he made contact first! Santana unloaded with punches and sent him into the barricade and timekeeper's table.
Slater hit a huge dive to the outside on Kazarian, then hit a swanton 450 on Kaz for the pin.
Your winners, X-Division Champion Leon Slater & Matt Hardy & Indi Hartwell!
Very entertaining first 30 minutes.
The announcers ran down the lineup for TNA Showcase.
On stage, Tommy Dreamer was rallying the TNA troops. He noted there will be two Survivor Series matches and titles vs. titles for the tag team belts. They are NXT but we are family. He promised TNA will take them to the extreme, show why they are TNA and will kick their asses.
The Injury report: Gia Miller is shaken but cleared after being attacked by Tessa Blanchard. Ash by Elegance is out with an undisclosed issue. Hey, isn't this THE injury report? In all seriousness, our best to Ash. They said all details are being kept confidential and there is no time table for her return. The competitors in the Knockouts Tag Team titles bout are all cleared to compete.
They aired a nice video package on Mara Sade. She came off very well.
They showed footage of this past Tuesday's NXT to set up Showdown next week.
The Angel Warriors vs. Ava Lawless and Kat Von Heez.
The Warriors cut a promo that was inserted in the corner as they came to the ring. Lei Ying Lee shows was more intensity and charisma than she's given credit for. Lee and Xia Brookside tagged in and out, cleaning house on their opponents. They won a quick bout with Lawless and Von Heez getting a little competitive spots.
Joe Hendry said they said his name and he appeared at Victory Road. He pinned Eric Young with a Standing Ovation on the chair. Santino announced they were going to have a No DQ rematch next week.
They aired a vignette on Mike Santana. He was with Amazing Red. Names like he, Homicide and Low Ki kicked open the door for him. They were at Slammiversary but when the match was over, they were disappointed. Santana had the fire but something didn't click. He and Homicide wasted their time being there. There was no celebration. Santana doesn't need more coaching. This is the truth. He let someone walk in his house and take from him. He said forget him, Homicide and the SAT. They had their time. At Bound for Glory, Trick Williams is going to walk in the front door to Santana's house, do unspeakable things and slap Santana's daughter on the way out. He said this isn't about anyone but Mike Santana, not even his family. He can't do this for his father. He has to do it for himself. Red said he knows what to do. When he wins the title, everything will be back in order. Santana isn't losing again. Go get that title and bring it home. THIS WAS FN' TREMENDOUSLY well produced but if you were an indy fan or especially a New Yorker, this was a must see segment.
Nick Nemeth vs. Hometown Man.
Ryan Nemeth came out wearing the mask they stole from HTM at Victory Road.
HTM cleaned house early. The announcers made it a point to say he hasn't been pinned or submitted since debuting. He nailed an Airplane Spin into a TKO for a two count. Ryan grabbed his leg, allowing Nic to nail a neckbreaker. Nemeth choked him against the ropes. As the referee admonished him, Ryan choked HTM more. Nemeth locked on a sleeper but HTM fought to his feet. Nemeth nailed a knee to the mid-section to break it up. HTM nailed a lariat and slammed him, then hit an elbow. He nailed Sliced Bread #2 but Ryan put Nic's leg on the ropes. HTM nailed Ryan and stole back his mask, but when he returned to the ring, ate a superkick and was hit by The Danger Zone for the pin.
Your winner, Nic Nemeth!
They attacked HTM but Matt Cardona hit the ring for the save. They worked over Cardona as well and left with the mask.
They aired a promo from Gia Mller. She's glad Tessa Blanchard didn't wait to show her true colors in attacking her. When she agreed to have the suspension lifted, she made Santino agree that if Blanchard did anything to her, she would get to have her chance at revenge - and it's going to happen at Bound for Glory. Gia Miller vs. Tessa Blanchard. Tessa may be great but she doesn't know everything about Gia. Gia knows all there is to know about her. Gia isn't an in-ring competitor but she's going to beat Tessa within an inch of her life. Gia's delivery and facial expressions were excellent here.
Alisha Edwards with the System vs. Tasha Steelz with Order 4.
Nice babyface reaction for The System. They noted this was Edwards' first singles bout in almost a year. They slugged it out. Edwards sent her into the corner and nailed some big right hands. John Skyler tripped Edwards as she rebounded off the ropes, allowing Tasha to take control. Edwards was whipped into the corner and hit with some big punches. Steelz's poise in the ring is absolutely great. Edwards exploded with some offense and did a nice job playing to the crowd. She drilled Tasha in the corner for a two count. Tasha regained control. Everyone at ringside got involved and fought on the floor. Someone tossed Edwards a Singapore Cane. She nailed Tasha and scored the pin with a Facebuster.
Your winner, Alisha Edwards!
The System controlled the ring after.
Tessa Blanchard and Victoria Crawford cut a promo. She said she trained under George South and went on to do great things. Gia tried to train under George because of Tessa and Tessa tried to help her but Gia was just a complainer and left to train under Mike Jackson, who's been a perennial jobber for his entire career. She said that Gia should be scared of what Tessa is going to do to her, because Tessa is scared of what she's going to do to Gia. She should pack up her things and remember she was just a third-rate announcer. If she does, Tessa will forget this ever happened. Good heel promo.
TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions Heather & M by Elegance vs. The IInspiration
Heather and Jessie McKay started out, battling back and forth. Team Elegance tried to double-team her but Cassie tagged in. The IInspiration looked good early. Heather kicked away at Jessie, who returned the fire. The IInspiration nailed the Elegance Brand with stereo shots in the corners and then played to the crowd.
Team Elegance gained control and worked over McKay. She almost made the tag to Cassie but M pulled Lee off the apron, preventing the contact. McKay was trapped in a surfboard as M worked her over. McKay fought her way to her feet and nailed Eat Defeat. She finally made the hot tag to Cassie Lee. Lee nailed a series of clotheslines. She nailed a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. The Concierge argued with the referee as the crowd chanted for him to be thrown out. Team Elegance cheated but when Heather went to throw champagne in the face of Lee, she ducked and M was splashed instead. The IInspiration doubleteamed her and scored the pin.
Your winners and new TNA Tag Team Champions, The IIspiration!
Very good episode for building things towards Bound for Glory.
