The publishing of Pro Wrestling Illustrated's PWI 500 today featured former TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich being listed in the top 25 of the compilation of 500 "top" pro wrestlers for the past year.
The publication of the magazine article also opened a Pandora's Box of allegations against Slamovich that played out on social media after a friend of her former boyfriend AKIRA, who has performed for MLW and other promotions in the past, called out Slamovich for allegedly abusing AKIRA physically and mentally over the course of their relationship.
Those allegations included a link to a dropbox featuring over 100 unverified screenshots of texts between the two that appeared to feature Slamovich admitting to hitting AKIRA, alleged demands for money and what could only be described as emotional abuse. The social media posts also featured photos of cuts and bruises on Akira's face and wrists. The texts would range from 2022 to earlier this year.
Akira later took to social media, confirming the allegations and stating that on three occasions he "almost killed" himself.
Slamovich has not responded to the allegations but several independent promotions including Prestige Wrestling and West Coast Pro Wrestling announced she would no longer appear on upcoming dates for the companies. Whether Slamovich removed herself or was pulled by the promotions is as of this writing unclear.
One thing is clear. TNA has taken notice of the allegations. When reached this evening for comment, the promotion issued the following - "We take any allegations like this very serious and have begun an internal investigation." They issued the same statement to Sports Illustrated and other outlets as well.
PWInsider.com has been unable to confirm whether that means Slamovich has been pulled from this weekend's Victory Road PPV in Edmonton as well as the subsequent TV taping, which would be the final tapings before Bound for Glory on 10/12.
Slamovich, 27, has been with TNA since late 2021 and also regularly performs for GCW and a number of other independent promotions.
