Wrestling Open RI
9/15/25 – Cranston, RI
Spotlight Match: Devious Cass vs. Jake Gray
A really good back-and-forth 5-minute match. Devious Cass wasn’t particularly devious, but he sure took it to the Handyman. Jake gave a lot back, finally tagging Cass with a chickenwing clothesline for the three.
Match 1: Marcus Mathers (c) vs. Ray Jaz
For the IWTV Championship
Last time, Ray Jaz got his foot on the rope despite taking the three count. He’s focused on making sure that mistake doesn’t happen again. He spends the opening moments reminding ref Gina that rope breaks exist.
Marcus chases him to the floor and lands some heavy shots. The crowd is very pro-Marcus and has learned to properly boo Ray Jaz. Back in the ring, they absolutely push each other to the limit. The crowd is clearly getting under Ray’s skin, but they’re also chanting “This is awesome!”
Ray finally reverses Mathers’ finish—he hits a destroyer?! Then a rolling DVD! Ray gets the three…but Mathers’ foot is on the rope! Ray thinks he’s won, but Ref Gina caught it. Jaz is furious! He goes back for the kill, but Marcus rolls him up for the three!
Jaz gets screwed by rope breaks AGAIN! He’s shattered by this, but Marcus stands tall—and almost wipes out my popcorn with his belt.
Match 2: Kylon King vs. Anthony Vecchio
Miracle Generation is coming for the new Wrestling Open tag champs, trying to reclaim their once-dominant spot atop the Northeast tag team mountain. King tries to belittle and bully Vecchio, but the champ outwrestles him and dishes out some disrespect right back.
Kylon gets vicious, dropping knees to the back of the head. Vecchio almost seals it with that sick rolling German, but Kylon gets a foot on the rope. That’s all Vecchio can manage before King drops him with a dragon suplex and then a tombstone for the clean three.
Post-match: Kylon grabs the mic. Tonight he made a statement—Miracle Generation is coming for those titles. Vecchio looks like he got hit by a truck. The crowd haaaaaates this.
Match 3: JGeorge vs. Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball)
The crowd cheers for JGeorge because he’s finally on the main show…then immediately goes back to booing him because they don’t want him to win.
Marbury weathers some offense before the D-Fence rallies. He hits the Kobe Claw Smash for the win!
Note: Marbury was originally set to fight Brad Baylor, but Baylor is too upset about being held back from the Open Championship and the conspiracy around it. On-screen, it sounds like Vinny Scalise also wants a piece of Open Champion Bobby Orlando.
Match 4: Tyler Jordan vs. “Fancy” Ryan Clancy
Tyler is much bigger and stronger than Clancy and clearly didn’t do his homework on who the former Open champions are. He’s got a big problem on his hands—and he might be too stubborn to realize it.
Clancy controls Jordan early, connecting with a crossbody and a neck twist. Jordan catches another crossbody into a flying World’s Strongest Slam—great counter. He unloads the clip, but it’s not enough.
A double crossbody wipes both men out! Fancy starts to roll, but a butterfly suplex can’t finish the job. Trading shots in the center fires Clancy up for a huge German toss! Jordan answers with a Michinoku Driver after dodging the KO Dropkick.
In the final sequence, Jordan tries to spring off the ropes—but eats the feet of a Fancy KO Dropkick for the three!
Match 5: Oxx Adams (w/ BRG) vs. Anthony Green
BRG calls his loss to Green a fluke and promises that his monster will prove it. Oxx certainly looks the part, tossing AG around with ease and shoulder-checking him to the floor.
BRG interferes, but Green briefly chases him off before Oxx regains control. AG stuns the giant but can’t put anything big together. A glimmer of hope comes when he superkicks BRG off the apron and goes for his rope-walk crossbody—but Oxx counters with a World’s Strongest Slam for the clean three.
Crowd: Booooooooo!
Match 6: Kylie Alexa vs. Liviyah
Kylie spends the opening moments outside the ring—stretching, taunting the crowd, and definitely not fighting. Liviyah chases her down and chops the heck out of her on the apron.
Back inside, it’s mostly Liviyah pummeling Kylie. Alexa fights back, throwing her whole body into her offense. Liv gets space, but runs right into a boot. Kylie chops and stomps away before hitting a sling blade at the 30-second mark.
Liviyah rallies with a Samoan Drop and a powerbomb, but time expires with less than 10 seconds left!
Post-match: Liviyah doesn’t want this to end. Next week at The Unforgiven, Kylie and Davienne will team up against Liviyah and Shannon LaVangie!
Main Event: Bear Bronson vs. DJ Powers (w/ Giorgio Lawrence)
The crowd is here for one thing and one thing only: to see Bear Bronson beat the everloving f*** out of DJ Powers. After some brief cowardice, we finally get just that—and it’s great.
DJ trips Bear in the buckles and wraps his leg around the post. Ref Gina misses Lawrence’s follow-up chair shot to the knee. Bronson is wrecked, and DJ lays in a long, methodical beating.
Bear reverses a figure four, but a Black Hole Slam isn’t enough to keep DJ down. Powers exposes Bear’s knee and kicks away. Bronson tries a powerbomb, but his knee gives out! DJ hits a Claymore—it’s still not enough.
They trade hard shots, with Bear slapping DJ around. Bronson goes for a lariat, but DJ trips the leg and locks in a single crab! Bear tosses him off, and when DJ re-enters with a sunset flip, Bronson sits into the pin for the three!
Post-match: Powers and Lawrence look to beat down Bear, but Ryan Clancy runs out to make the save! Tension has been brewing between Bear and Clancy for weeks. Clancy offers a handshake, but Bronson shoulders past him.
Clancy grabs the mic: Bronson never gave up on him, so he won’t give up on Bear. Next week, Clancy will be here with his boots laced—either they make up or they settle it in the ring!
