During an appearance on SportsBusiness, WWE President Nick Khan announced that Italy will host its first ever WWE PPV or PLE (as the company now calls them) in 2026. Khan referred to it as happening in the early part of the year.
WWE has run Italy dating back to live events in 1987 and have broadcast Raw, Smackdown and WWE's version of ECW from that country. There have been several title changes there, including Deuce & Domino defeating Paul London & Brian Kendrick for the WWE Tag Team belts on the 400th episode of Smackdown in 2007 and a 2007 episode of Raw, which saw Santino Marella debut and win the Intercontinental title, defeating the late Umaga.
Of course, WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino was born in Italy and a statue was erected in his honor in his hometown of Pizzoferrato in 2017.
The Italy event will time with that country's WWE broadcast rights shifting over to Netflix.
