STEVE MACLIN, MYRON REED, SNITSKY, LEON SLATER & MORE: 9/6 WRESTLING REVOLVER IN CLIVE, IOWA LIVE REPORT

By David Houston on 2025-09-08 11:47:00

The Wrestling REVOLVER was back in the Horizon Event Center in Clive, Iowa for "REVOLVER Clean Slate", live on TrillerTV.  Big, hot crowd. They didn't say whether it was a sell out but it looked jam packed.  Not only will 3 WR titles be defended but 2 TNA titles as well.

Bork Torkelson had a rotating cast to help him on commentary. WR exec Phil Stamper was very good. WR owner Sami Callihan was solid. We finally found something Jake Crist isn't good at. It was funny to hear Torkelson be the calm, focused one.

They opened with "Bulletproof" Steve Maclin successfully defending the TNA International title against WR mainstay Damien Chambers (with Kayla Cassidy).  Good match. Clive was into Maclin, who came out like a rocket and never slowed down.

They cut to the back and we see REVOLVER champion Myron Reed attacking his challenger for the night, Rich Swann, with a chair.

JJ Garrett defeated "Fancy" Ryan Clancy, making his WR debut.  This was great technical exhibition, not the norm for REVOLVER. Garrett got the win with a deeep hunk of the trunks.

Team Joe Alonzo (Juni Underwood, Tye or Die--KJ Reynolds, Ryan Matthias-and obviously, Joe Alonzo) got the victory over former WR tag champ Alpha Sig (Brent Oakley, KC Jacobs, "Big" Dick Meyers) and BDE (Brandon Does Everything).  A lot of young guys doing a lot of high energy stuff with a healthy dose of comedy and shenanigans.. Entertaining.  Team Alonzo left their leader hanging early in the match, a receipt for forgetting their names but they got on the same page.  Joe pinned Oakley while holding the ropes when Jacobs decided to dive onto Tye or Die on the floor instead of a Wazzup headbutt.  Oakley was furious at Jacobs. They did some pushing and shoving until Gene Snitsky (!!!) came out and made them hug it out. Then there's some comedy with Bigg Pound.  This was a little long but it was the most entertaining thing I've ever seen with Snitsky. I enjoyed it.

Alan Angels of the Macabre (with "Mean" Gia Miller) won a 3 Way match over "Firestarter" Jake Crist and Crash Jaxon.  Another all action match but with a more serious tone.  Jaxon's so impressive for such a big guy to make like he does and have such a gas tank.  He made a mistake setting up an Erector set of chairs and doors but ended up being the one who crashed (sorry) through them.  Angels hits Crist with an Angel Wings and then another that looked more like a C4 piledriver for the win.

Since debuting in WR back in April in a 4 Way tag title match (held by the Macabre then too), Latino's Most Wanted (Koda Hernandez, Sabin Gauge) have had 4 opportunities in multi team matches, including last month when they got all the way to the end of a Gauntlet match before losing to the Macabre.  This was their first team vs team challenge for the Tag Titles and they pulled off the upset, winning the REVOLVER Tag titles from The Macabre (the former Madman Fulton now Dreadknot, "The Atrocity" Krule with Miller ringside) in a hard fought battle where they were fighting from behind much of the bout.  Miller was furious! She gave those two giants the business!

"The Phenomenal" AJ Francis successfully defended his Remix title against social media content creator-turned-wrestler Chris Danger.  This was pretty solid. Francis has been looking like a good ring general in there with these raw rookies, first BDE, now Danger.  I was shocked at how popular Francis, a very good heat seeking heel, was in Clive. They not only did his Money chant but even some "Whoop Dat Trick", a nod to his alliance in TNA and NXT with TNA World champion Trick Williams.  He went for a post match beatdown with BDE trying to make a save but eating a chair for his troubles.

Leon Slater retained the TNA X Division championship in a 4 way match over Dante Leon, Marcus Mathers and his former tag partner in Boisterous Behavior and current PROGRESS Heavyweight champion, Man Like Dereiss.  Good match but this was the 3rd all gas/no brakes match on the show so it might have felt longer than it was, even as it was the longest match on the show.  Loved the finish with Mathers delivering a tombstone piledriver to Leon on the floor then, with Dereiss, being taken out by Slater, who immediately tossed Leon in the ring and hit his 450 Swanton Bomb for the win.

REVOLVER champion "The Young GOAT" Myron Reed (with Killer Kelly) needed a new challenger since apparently something happened to Rich Swann.
Steve Maclin answered the challenge and they had a good match that went bananas.  A ref bump allowed Damien Chambers and Kayla Cassidy to try to interfere and ruin Maclin's chance to be a 2 time WR champion.  An insane scene as Kelly and Cassidy get into it and it looks like Kelly is going to help Maclin with both Chambers and Cassidy and Reed trapped in the Tree of Woe in separate corners but she tries to turn on Maclin, who saw it coming and now Kelly is trapped in the fourth corner.  Maclin hits the Tag Em/Bag Em tackle on all four to a huge pop.  More chaos that leads to Reed striking him in the face with the title belt 4 separate times in front of the lead ref who came in after the first two were taken out. I guess he assumed it was a No Disqualification match and counted the fall.  WHAT???  I don't know how that worked but other than the finish, insane final few minutes of the main event.  If Swann is hurt legit, I hope him a speedy recovery as he's had a fantastic comeback year.

One of REVOLVER's better shows, if a tiny bit repetitive at times, which is their norm.  Still very entertaining and no match overstayed it's welcome.
