Spotlight Match: JGeorge vs. Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball)
It’s one of Beyond’s biggest shows of the year, and JGeorge is in the spotlight match here too. Someday he will graduate to Main Show JGeorgey. But not tonight. Like last night, he’s still not wearing shoes. The match is solid. Both guys work well, Benny rallies the crowd with the “D-Fence” chant, and Marbury makes a comeback, hitting a double fake cutter for the three!
We’re live on YouTube for the first hour! Lauren St. James is our announcer!
Match 1: MINT (Gal & Joseph Zamora) vs. Wrench & Resolve (Jake Gray & Erik Chacha)
MINT is owning most of the early going after a brief tandem flurry from the Handymen. Chacha endures a long beating, Zamora and Gal keep him isolated. Just at the moment we should get the hot tag, Gal blasts Jake off the apron and hits a high-velocity Blue Thunder Bomb for the win. Cranston does NOT like this.
Match 2: Ray Jaz vs. Eye Black Jack
Raymond thinks he’s going to have an easy night against the BIOPro grad. Jack gives him way more than he expects in a competitive few minutes, but Ray pulls out that backslide of his and snags the three. Booooooooo!
Match 3: Dan Barry vs. Drew Gulak
I’m told it’s been over a decade since these two have faced each other one-on-one. I could check Cagematch, but I tend to believe this ringside nerd. ???? Gulak and Barry have a VERY GOOD PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING MATCH. I literally expect nothing else from these two. Dan shows early control, but Gulak starts to bully him in the mid-match. Gulak wants the submission, but Dan keeps fighting free. Barry starts throwing suplexes with abandon, bouncing Gulak off the buckles and the apron before hitting a Gotch-style tombstone for the win! Awesome.
Dan Barry on the mic! This is his last Americanrana. And on Dec 31st at Heavy Lies the Crown, he will have his last match AT THE WHITE EAGLE FOR ONE LAST TIME!!!!!
Match 4: The Residency (RJ Rude & Rex Lawless w/ Nick Robles) vs. The Vibe (Sammy Diaz & Mani Ariez) vs. Gay Best Friends (Aaron Rourke & B3CCA) vs. Star Struck (Channing Thomas & Anthony Green) (Lucha Tag Rules)
It’s about to be chaos to close out the first hour! RJ on the mic runs down everyone’s music, making sure that everyone knows they are the only heel team in this match… and so everyone kills him. Gay Best Friends are OVER in Cranston, we’ve clearly missed B3CCA. Rex finally breaks up the good match and makes everyone upset. The Residency goes to kill Becca but she hits a destroyer on RJ! The Vibe with a frog splash tries to steal the win but Robles gets involved! Becca with a heavy right hand to Rex! RJ tries to capitalize on a distracted Rourke, but Star Struck catches him with a suplex–European uppercut combo for the win! This was a blast.
Beyond Owner Denver Colorado confirms that we ARE going back to the White Eagle for New Year’s! But there’s another announcement about the future of Wrestling Open Rhode Island… but we won’t hear it until Monday!
(Intermission)
And we’re live on IWTV! Rich Palladino takes over the announcing duties from here on!
Match 5: Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)(c) vs. Shooter Boys (Anthony Vecchio & Aaron Ortiz)
(for the Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships)
The roof is going to pop off if the Shooter Boys win these belts. Shooter Boys are RIGHT in the champs’ faces. They WANT this and they are drawing on the collective energy of Cranston to overwhelm Swipe Right for the opening minutes of this contest. Ricky finally lands a blindside kick to Ortiz and the tide has turned. Ortiz eats a LOT of damage and it seems like it might start to go like our opening tag… but Vecchio gets the hot tag! But he runs right into the tandem attacks of the champs. Swipe Right start punishing Vecchio too, and the crowd is getting nervous. Like his partner, Vecchio is kicking out of some big moves. They are proving their scrappiness tonight! Ortiz tags in, huge surprise torpedo dive into Baylor! Shooter Boys go for their finish, but Smokes intercepts! Super Swipe on Vecchio! Ortiz breaks up the pin! They go for it again… Ortiz tosses Smokes! Shooter Boys hit a SUPER SWIPE on Baylor!!! Kick out! This rules. Swipe Right try a double pedigree?!? Shooters with a double German! Smokes eats the Doomsday Blockbuster and the Shooter Boys get the win after a FANTASTIC 16-minute opener. Biiiiiiiiig pop for this! We celebrate hard. Perfect start.
Match 6: Fancy Ryan Clancy vs. Timothy Thatcher
If you think Clancy is outmatched here, remember that he has a win over Zack Sabre Jr. Thatcher does a lot of wrapping Ryan into painful spaces… but Clancy keeps finding ways free. That said, Thatcher keeps applying the pressure. Clancy with a straight right and rams Tim into the buckles. This is a VERY aggressive version of Clancy in the ring tonight! Thatcher starts to take offense to this disrespect and slaps the crap out of Clancy. Thatcher, caught up in a building rage, gives Ryan the time to posture up… and hit the KO dropkick for the clean win! Thatcher can’t help but respect that. He offers a handshake but Clancy just walks off.
Match 7: Stetson Ranch (Steven Stetson, Danny Miles, Brian Morris & Charles Mason) vs. Big Business (TJ Crawford, Love Doug, Victor Chase & Julio Cruz)
Where is Brad Hollister in all of this??? Cranston just got a taste of what TRUE RANCH HEAT sounds like. This is allllll Big Business until the money they paid to Charles Mason finally pays off, tripping up TJ and hitting a snap rolling DVD. Crawford tries to fight this off but he’s caught in a huge numbers disadvantage. Finally, the hot tag to Chase! Big Rizz on fire! Uranage to Stetson lays him flat! Julio in for the double World’s Strongest Slam! Big Business looks in control until everyone but TJ is pulled out! Julio makes the save! Chase with a big dive to the floor! Mason is left alone with Doug! Mason tries to choke him out! Doug’s free and hits the Rebound! Mason is down for the three! Wild match!
Stetson attacks Doug from behind and the Big Business theme hits again… it’s Brad Hollister! Huge German to Stetson! Big Business in there with their leader, there’s clearly some tension left between Crawford and Brad, but they all hug it out to the cheers of the crowd!!
Match 8: Brett Ryan Gosselin (w/ Oxx Adams) vs. Angel Ortiz
BRG is to Cranston what Steven Stetson is to Worcester. We are getting a LOT of vitriol out and it is right under BRG’s skin. Ortiz is having a generally dominant good time in here until Oxx rips his legs out from the floor. Big elbow drop from BRG for two. Funky Monkey back with a powerslam and plank splash! He hits a flatliner into a Koji Clutch but Brett gets the rope. Ortiz tries to come off the top but Oxx tosses him while the ref is distracted. BRG hits a neckbreaker and gets the three. Nooooooooooo!
Match 9: Marcus Mathers (c) vs. Matt Cardona (for the IWTV Championship)
Man, we universally hate Matt Cardona. Cardona lets us under his skin and it fuels him. Marcus has about five minutes of keeping Matt on the backpedal, but Cardona slowly works in some throat thrusts and a hard whip into the buckles that takes Mathers’ air away. Cardona still lets the crowd in his head and that divided attention lets Marcus roll him up. Cardona with a Broski Boot and a powerbomb, but Marcus kicks out! Matt grabs his Internet Championship belt but Marcus gets it. Cardona completely punked out by Mathers, who wants to hit him. Marcus chooses the path of light but eats a Rough Ryder for it. He goes for an Unprettier… Marcus fights it off! Frankensteiner!!!! Matt goes for another Rough Ryder but eats a Last Ride! 450 off the top connects and Marcus gets the three in a banger!
(Intermission)
It’s time for the DJ Powers Open Challenge! He’s mad at being left off Americanrana! Who is coming out to fight? It’s Beyond OG SANTANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Match 10: DJ Powers (w/ Giorgio Lawrence) vs. Santana
Holy s***! “You want me to kill this motherf***er?” says Santana. Yes, sir. DJ tries to run. He knows he’s in trouble. He gets a couple of chops in, but that just makes Santana mad. Mike just… pummels this kid. Giorgio finally provides a distraction that lets Powers get some stuff in. Not gonna lie, Powers is looking really smooth here, but his chest is slowly becoming ground beef. Santana fires back up, a few cutters and a huge lariat later: Powers is down for the three!
Match 11: Miracle Generation (Kylon King & Dustin Waller) vs. Ichiban & Brando Lee
These two teams Haaaaaaate each other. Ichiban and Lee run right in and tackle MG! They brawl for a solid minute before the bell rings. Maybe proper tag rules are out the door. Lee gets isolated and MG starts to break him apart. Brando looks to be bleeding from the mouth already. Ichiban tags in and stacks up Ky and Dustin for a flurry of punches and body attacks! Huge somersault to the floor! MG avoids the Ichi Bankai and go for the Powerplex! Lee breaks it up! Huge dive from Lee but Waller follows right behind to break the pin! Everyone’s dead but Dustin and Ichi get into the brawl. Everyone’s going for the kill! Lee with the rolling DVD! Ichiban splash! Dustin pulls Kylon away to avoid a flying Lee and they stack him with feet on the ropes for the three. Boooooooooooo!
Match 12: Kris Statlander vs. Liviyah
Liviyah got to pick her dream opponent for this, so she has everything to lose here. Kris Statlander is a welcome return to Beyond and she is putting Liv through the paces and showcasing her strength. Liv finally starts to take Kris off her feet but can’t get the job done. Statlander slingshots her into the buckles and hits a spear to the back! Roll-through German! The crowd is pretty split on this one. Kris hits an F5 but Liv kicks out! Liv reverses the tombstone into the Showstopper but Kris kicks out! Liv off the top but Statlander rolls away and hits the tombstone for the win!
Match 13: Savage Gnomes (Bear Bronson & Gabby Forza) vs. Krule & Shotzi Blackheart
Krule and Bear reeeeeeally want to throw down but we’re starting with Gnomie and Shotzi! Gnomie has a party hat for Shotzi! We try to get a hat for Krule but he wants nothing to do with that. No more hats, it’s time to fight. Shotzi and Gabby are having a banger just between themselves before the big boys get in there. The meat almost cancels each other out as they drop each other over and over. Shotzi and Gabby German suplex the guys! Gabby hits a slam on Krule! Holy s***! Shotzi hits a destroyer on Bear but she pops up into a spear from Gabby! That’s the three count! Krule carries a broken Shotzi from the ring as the Savage Gnomes celebrate!
Main Event: Bryce Donovan (c) (w/ Vinny Scalise) vs. Bobby Orlando (for the Wrestling Open Championship)
This has been a LONG time coming. After everything… can Bobby actually fight Bryce, never mind take the title from him? Bryce is clearly operating under the assumption that Orlando doesn’t have the will to be in this fight, and he just bullies our mom. And some kids at ringside. After a moment in the crowd with his people, Bobby is back into this and taking it to Donovan enough that Bryce needs to take a little walk. Bobby back in the fight and Bryce maybe tweaked his knee? No, it was a ruse, of course it was. Bobby with a back rack and cutter! Bobby Slam connects! Scalise slows Bobby ascending the ropes, which lets Bryce toss Orlando from the top to the apron — owwwwwwwwwwwww. Bryce torturing his challenger now. Bobby keeps trying to rally but Bryce just takes him down over and over and the crowd is getting mad.
Bobby with a missile dropkick out of nowhere! Kick out! Bobby with a spear! Kick out! Max Caster can be seen over at merch, observing this clash of his former(?) Shook Crew friends. Scalise interferes again and Bobby walks into a Black Hole Slam! Huge Bobby Bomb! Sick Trick? Bryce catches him with a chokeslam for two! Scalise AGAIN! Why hasn’t Gina thrown him out?!? Bobby launches himself but gets hit with another chokeslam! Gina finally catches Vinny messing with the buckle pads and tosses him out! Bryce tries to use the exposed buckle but Bobby reverses him into it! Sick Trick Cutter! Bryce kicks out!!!!! Bobby goes for the Dab Elbow but Bryce hits the ropes! Damocles? Bryce misses entirely and wipes out ref Gina! Bobby wipes out Bryce for a visual ten! Noooooo! Donovan hits a low blow and grabs the Open belt! Fancy Ryan Clancy slides in! He stares down Bryce… and they both turn towards Bobby. They shake hands — this unholy alliance! Ryan walks over to Bobby… and pulls him up! Bryce is confused! Clancy hits the KO dropkick! Bobby hits the Dab Elbow! Ref Scott runs down! One, two… kick out! My godddddd! This is bonkers. Bryce pulls down ref Scott as Vinny runs down with a pipe wrench and blasts Bobby! Bryce with the pin… KICK OUT! Bryce is getting big mad. He shoves ref Scott. Scott shoves back! Bryce with a chokeslam to Scott! Vinny attacking Bobby! They grab chairs. Vinny pummels Bobby with the steel while Bryce watches. He seems uncomfortable seeing this level of punishment. He starts telling Vinny to back off. Scalise wraps Bobby’s head in the chair… he hands the other chair to Bryce. He can’t do it! The crowd chanting “SHOOK”! Vinny goes to finish the job and Bryce stops him. This is too much, he tells Vinny. Bobby grabs the chairs and guts them both! Bobby has the belt but can’t blast Bryce. He offers a hand to Bryce. Bryce takes it but he grabs for the belt. Bobby dodges… Sick Trick Cutter! Dab Elbow connects! That’s the three! Bobby Orlando is your NEEEEEWWWWW Wrestling Open Champion!!!!!! Huuuuuge pop from the crowd for this!!!! An epic 30+ minute main event to an epic-level show. Americanrana always goes all out and tonight felt GREAT!
