WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN TODAY: THE WWE CLASH IN PARIS TIP SHEET

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson & Richard Trionfo on 2025-08-29 18:08:00

WWE will present Clash in Paris this Sunday on Peacock and Netflix from Paris, France with a 2:00 PM Eastern start time for the PPV.

World Championship Match: Seth Rollins vs CM Punk vs LA Knight vs Jey Uso

Dave: I don't like seeing the Title change hands in a match like this and I don't think it will. The three babyfaces have created some much insipid drama amongst themselves that Seth will use it, and probably outside help, to retain his belt.

Mike: What would be the point in wasting all that time lying to everyone just to do another title change a month later?  The obvious story is all the babyfaces will keep each other from getting the win, since they aren't standing together, and Rollins and The Vision will use that to retain.

Richard: Instead of having the numbers advantage, this is essentially a three-on-one match where each opponent wants to be the one to beat the champion (even though we often see a champion lose without being pinned).  If anyone is going to take the title from Seth, it will be Punk.  However, I don't see that happening.  With the odds against Seth, a victory will only make his future promos more Sethical in nature.  Punk and Knight will eventually battle in the match and they neutralize each other to allow Seth to pin Jey.

Women's Intercontinental Championship Match: Becky Lynch vs Nikki Bella

Dave: I don't see Becky losing here.  I am curious to see how much Nikki has left in the tank.  She has looked good since her return.

Mike: This will be the biggest test for Nikki since returning.  I don't think she needs the title.  Lynch retains.

Richard: Rejoice for McFly booking is back.  Becky said she wouldn't give Nikki a match so Nikki calls her a coward and then she gives her a title match on a PPV.  Becky shouldn't be losing the title to Nikki and she shouldn't be losing the title yet.  Do we see Lyra get involved (she can't wrestle Becky but she can distractifere), or Bayley, or a new figure in the title picture?  In one scenario I played in my head, Stephanie shows up and Nikki finds a way to win and Becky goes on to be Stephanie's opponent for the vacated Women's Title.  While it is an option, I don't see it happening.  Becky retains.

John Cena vs Logan Paul

Dave: Babyface John gets the win here, as he should.

Mike: I don't see this being a bigger program, unless the angle is for Cena to go to face Drew McIntyre, but Drew is destined for Cody in September.  So, Cena wins.

Richard: John Cena says goodbye to wrestling in Europe with this match.  It is nice that John is getting some of his shine back after that five months that we want to forget.  Logan is the perfect foil to John in this match because a majority of the fans will be behind Cena.  This will be an interesting match where Logan could get lost if he tries to do too many 'spectacular' moves in the match when that isn't what we get from John.  Logan will get too cocky and miss something to lead to the Five Moves of Doom and victory.

Roman Reigns vs Bronson Reed

Dave: They could either have Reed destroy Roman after a victory and give him the win.  I would go with the latter.  A Reed win over Roman, even if it is tainted, would be huge for the big man.  A loss won't hurt Roman at all.

Mike: Roman will be gone for a few weeks filming Street Fighter in Australia, so I can see them giving the win to Bronson.  They can then have a month of Reed mocking Roman to set up something for the October or November PPVs.

Richard: After the tag match at SummerSlam, we get the singles match that many were talking about.  This has the potential to be a very good match and the result of the match could play a role in my overall opinion of the match.  I think the end result will be Roman being dominated by Bron and Bronson, but it be after a Roman or a Reed victory?  If they want to write Roman off TV to do his Street Fighter filming, he needs to eat a few spears and a number of tsunamis and set up a potential War Games match.  I think Reed should win, but I think Roman gets the win and we get the attack.

Sheamus vs Rusev in a Good Ol' Donnybrook Match

Dave: I think if they want to elevate Rusev beyond where he is now, he needs to get the win here.

Mike: When do we get a new fangled Donnybrook??  I really wish they had done something grander with Rusev but he's among a lot of talents I feel are just floating around (See Dragon Lee, Penta, Fenix, etc.) while Sheamus is always good for a damn good physical match.  I hope they go and this kicks ass and it actually means something the next set of TV tapings.  Rusev should win.

Richard: This has been a decent feud but this feels like I am watching AEW when these two wrestle because they are beating the crap out of each other for what?  No title matches are on the horizon for either of them.  They will beat the crap out of each other again and it will be a good performance for both of them with Sheamus getting the win.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match:  Wyatt Sicks vs Street Profits

Dave:  If it's me, I have the Profits beat them down and get the belts back on a real team.  No disrespect to The Wyatts but the supernatural stuff does nothing for me.  It would be great for the live crowd.  But, I am not confident that they will do it.

Mike: No way the Wyatts are losing as we enter Halloween season.

Richard:  The Street Profits earned their title match by Miz having PTSD of his time with Karrion Kross when Miz had issues with the Wyatts.  When Cole and Wade freaked out on commentary, I thought we were going to get a double DQ so we could 'Pearce it up' with a Triple Threat.  I think it was a mistake to give the Wyatts the titles, but with the Halloween Horror Nights tie in, will they keep the titles around their waists (for potential photo ops at Universal?)  I would give the titles back to the Street Profits, but I don't book WWE (isn't that obvious) so I expect to see Dexter and Joe retaining with shenanigans.
