WELCOME TO SWANSON AND RITNER: 8/27 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2025-08-27 22:05:00

It’s Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is live from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA and our commentary team is Excalibur, Ian Riccaboni, and Taz.

The show starts with FTR and Stokely coming to the ring with something to say. Cash Wheeler gets in fans’ faces on his way to the ring. Dax, after microphone issues, says that FTR not winning the Tag Team Title was a travesty and an illegal man pinned him and they ask to talk to Paul Turner, the referee. He browbeats Turner by saying he had to tell his family he failed because of Turner. He tells Turner to admit he was wrong, reverse the decision, and give the titles.

He says all decisions are final. Stokely gets in Turner’s face, insulting him and telling him to reverse the decision. Stokely shoves him and FTR gets in his face.

This brings out Adam Copeland. He comes out alone but keeps looking to see if Christian Cage is with him.

Instead, Cage hits the ring from the other side, takes out Stokely and they both attack FTR. They brawl as security tries to get between them. FTR are able to get out of the ring. Cage grabs a mic and reminds FTR that they have fathers, but Cope stops him. The fans chant for Cage to continue and he does so, reminding FTR their fathers are dead. Cope says they will meet at All Out in Toronto and it’s time for Cope to take his pound of flesh.

We get a video from Darby Allin about how he is going to take everything from Mox. Not just his title, but the Death Riders and everything else.

Jon Moxley w/Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta vs Daniel Garcia

Garcia comes out alone, so the babyfaces are still being dumb. The crowd chants their disapproval of Wheeler Yuta with a word that gets you an R rating.

They trade takedowns with mat holds. Garcia and Mox work more mat wrestling before getting to their feet. Garcia charges Mox and Mox clotheslines him down. Garcia lays in a series of blows and when Garcia runs in again, Mox drops him with a back elbow. Mox lays in strikes in the corners. The ref pulls Mox back for a break and Garcia gets a dragon screw in the ropes.

They go to the floor and Garcia stomps Mox down. Garcia gets a pair of running dropkicks on Mox in a chair and as Garcia rolls Mox into the ring, Yuta and Shafir close in on Garcia. Garcia is knocked to the floor by Mox and Matt Menard shows to get Shafir and Yuta to back off.

Wheeler Yuta grabs a mic and says Mox won’t waste the breath on Darby Allin’s challenge and the answer is no. On the floor, Garcia is still upset about losing. He and Mox have words and Garcia storms back to the locker room telling the camera to leave him alone.

After the break, Yuta returns to the ring and he says the show will not continue until he says what he wants to say. He is from this city and he broke bones in this building. He complains about fan chants about him. He says he is a Death Rider and cheers have done nothing for people. Will Ospreay is out injured, Chuck Taylor has a broken neck, and Bryan Danielson has been retired.

The lights go out and Hook comes to the ring with new music. Yuta swings at Hook and Hook gets a Redrum and a leaping right hand and Yuta is done for the night.

We then get an interview with MJF after the PPV. He says Mark Briscoe cost him the title and the fans chant “You Deserve It” and when he sees Briscoe again, he will burn him alive. He then says he is upset he has to give notice when he executes his contract. After he is done with Briscoe, he is coming for Adam Page’s soul.

Renee Paquette is in the ring to speak to Mercedes Mone. The ring has balloons and a table for her celebration. Renee asks about Alex Windsor and Mone says she was not tapping out, there was a bug in the ring and she was trying to swat it. She then says if Alex Windsor wants to face her, she will put Alex in a hospital bed next to her man.

He hopes when Ospreay comes back, he can challenge for the world title. He then says MJF had a shot at the title and he failed. MJF threw every trick at him and it failed. He says that if MJF finds the guts to sign the contract, he will beat MJF’s ass before the ink is dry.

We then get the Chord of Doom and Don Callis comes to the entryway. He says the only reason Page took the title from the Don Callis Family is because he had a weakling defending it (Kenny Omega). He says it’s not a question of if the Callis Family takes the title, and it is which one will take it.

Page attacks as they are coming to the ring and as he is fighting them, Kevin Knight and Speedball hit the ring. Callis gives Rocky Romero a steel baton to attack.

Then everyone gets a big move on the last person in the ring. Joe is left in the ring and Ricochet goes to the top. The ref does not see MVP nail Ricochet with his cane. Shibata gets a PK on Ricochet and Joe locks on the Coquina Clutch and Ricochet is out.
