WWE NXT GM Ava announced that the WWE Speed Championships were now being defended in NXT during tonight's Heatwave broadcast.
The first announced title defense will see Speed Champion Sol Ruca defend her title at WWE NXT No Mercy on 9/27 in Fort Lauderdale against the winner of a tournament that will feature competitors from AAA, NXT, Raw and TNA.
The WWE Speed series, originally created to stream on Wednesdays on Twitter, went dark without notice several weeks back. Since then, attempts to gain clairification about the status of the series were unsuccessful. It would appear the Twitter series has ended but the Speed matches will live on, integrated onto WWE NXT programming, at least until/unless WWE finds a new home for the Speed series.
