8/23 AEW COLLISION REPORT

It’s Saturday and AEW Collision was recorded Wednesday in Glasgow Scotland at the OVO Hydro. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Nigel McGuinness, and Ian Riccaboni.

Hechicero, Lance Archer, Josh Alexander, and Rocky Romero vs Scorpio Sky, Dante and Darius Martin, and Hiromu Takahashi

Takahashi and Josh start off with slaps and Takahashi gets a hurricanrana on Josh. Rocky gets into the ring and Takahashi drop-kicks him into Josh in the corner and then hits a basement drop-kick on Josh. Sky tags in and Hechicero tags in to face him. They fight in the corner with Sky getting a tejaris. Dante tags in and gets attacked in the corner as Darius gets a blind tag. They double-team Josh and then knock Archer off the apron. Darius dives into Archer, who catches him, shoves him into the apron and rolls him into the ring for Hechicero to cover for two.

Archer tags in and after Darius escapes Archer’s corner, Dante is tagged in. Dante is tossed into the ropes and Dante bounces off and hits the mat. Rocky runs the ropes and hits a Basement drop-kick and his team works over Dante with quick tags as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Dante gets a hurricanrana on Rocky and gets the hot tag to Sky, who runs wild. When Sky gets a Dragon Sleeper on Rocky, Hechicero gets into the ring, and after the rest of Sky’s team is toss., Mechicero gets an abdominal stretch and Archer gets a slam on Sky. Hechicero’s team works Sky over until Archer tosses Rocky on Sky for two. From here, everyone gets a big move on the last person in the ring until we are left with Rocky and Sky,

Sky gets a drop-kick on Rocky and tags in Takahashi. Rocky rakes the eyes and tries to walk the rope into a DDT, but Sky catches Rocky to prevent the move. Dante and Darius get into the ring and they and Sky dive onto Archer, Hechicero, and Josh. Takahashi hits a Death Valley Driver for the pin and the win on Rocky.

Winners: Scorpio Sky, Dante and Darius Martin, and Hiromu Takahashi

Kyle Fletcher comes to the stage to taunt Takahashi.

We then get a promo video for Hook made with action figure stop-motion.

We then get a promo video for the four way women’s match for the TBS title. 

Isla Dawn vs Megan Bayne

They lock up and Bayne quickly gets a waistlock takedown. She then gets a shoulder tackle. She runs Dawn into the corner and lays in chops. Dawn dodges a chop and is able to get a knee lift and a drop-kick into the corner. Dawn gets a side splash and tires a backdrop driver, but Bayne blocks it and is able to get a fallaway slam. She follows with scoop slams on Dawn. 

Dawn gets a few blows, but Bayne hammers her down. Bayne hits a short arm clothesline and pump kicks in the corner. Bayne then gets a butterfly suplex. Dawn blocks a power slam and gets a series of kicks and strikes. Dawn whips Bayne into the corner and gets kicks and knees. Dawn gets a running knee for two. Bayne gets a decapitator clothesline out of the corner and then hits a running Liger bomb for the pin and the win.

Winner: Megan Bayne

Willow Nightingale and Queen Aminata vs Julia Hart and Skye Blue

Willow comes to the ring, walking past Bayne.

Willow and Blue start off, and Blue attacks from behind, but Willow is able to stop her with a waistlock slam and when Hart gets into the ring, Willow shoulder tackles her down. Willow gets clotheslines in the corner and then a short arm clothesline for two. Aminata is tagged in and gets a snap suplex. She misses a charge in the corner and they fight in the corner. Hart walks the top rope for Old School and Aminata grabs Hart with a Ken Patera spin into the Chocolate Kisses, broken up by a drop-kick by Blue.

Hart and Blue get a double hair takedown and Hart covers for two as we go to picture in picture. 

When we return to full screen, Willow hits a pounce on Blue. Hart then is given a spinebuster by Willow who covers for two. Hart and Blue try for a double suplex and switch it to a double DDT for two. Blue is tagged in and Willow slams them into each other and tags in Aminata. Aminata gets two snap suplexes on Blue and when Blue charges, Aminata hits a headbutt. Aminata gets a running air raid crash for two.

Aminata goes to the top and misses a stomp. Aminata is able to get a swinging neckbreaker instead, which sets off the tag team siren and everyone is fighting in the ring until all four women are down. They all brawl until Willow and Hart fight on the apron. Aminata gets a jack knife pin and then a headbutt. She hits a running kick on Blue in the ropes and follows with the pin and the win.

Winners: Willow and Queen Aminata

Thekla runs to the ring to attack Aminata, but as Willow gets the upper hand, Penelope Ford and Megan Maybe hit the ring. Before they can get going, Harley Cameron runs to the ring and works over Bayne. With Ford’s help, Bayne gets the upper hand until Kris Statlander shows to dump Bayne out of the ring.

Lexi Nail is with Daniel Garcia and Matt Menard, and Daniel says he is not happy about losing the Technical Spectacle, but he will stand with Nigel McGuinness tomorrow and he tells Nigel to win that title.

Max Caster is here for the 5-minute challenge, and the crowd gives him the biggest cheer of the night.  No, really. He says he can’t understand them chanting his phrase and they can try again next time he’s here in 6 years.

Max Caster vs Zack Sabre Jr. 

Zack wins at 2:38 left with an abdominal stretch. 

Winner: Zack Sabre Jr.

After the match, Zack and Nigel go face to face and shake hands.

After Zack goes to the back, Bowens attacks and beats Max down until Billy Goon shows and gets into Bowens’ face. Bowens backs down and goes to the back. 

In the back, Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron are in the back, and Harley thanks her for the help. Kris says she hasn’t gotten her $100k yet because it is supposed to come from the Bucks’ salary and comes back insufficient funds. Harley says she’ll get in and goes into the Male Extra's locker room.  Harley comes out and says they told her they are broke until next week.  Jon Moxley and the Death Riders show up. Mox goes into the Extra’s room and comes out with the money and hands it to Kris.

Tomohiro Ishii vs Konosuke Takeshita

Don Callis joins commentary. 

They start by throwing hands. They continue by throwing hands. They continue by throwing hands. Takeshita finally takes Ishii down with a flying shoulder tackle. Ishii gets a big chop in the ropes and then a clothesline to the floor. Ishioi continues chops on the floor. Ishii rolls Takeshita onto the apron and Takeshita drops to the floor and trips Ishii, followed with a DDT to the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Ishii gets an avalanche-stalled vertical suplex from the second rope. Ishii and Takeshita charge at each other and Takeshita gets a casadora into a German suplex. Takeshita gets a big knee into the corner, but Ishii picks him up for a power bomb for two. Ishii gets a clothesline followed by a basement clothesline for two. Ishii charges at Takeshita, who picks him up for a blue thunder bomb for two. 

Takeshita gets a big forearm strike and tries for raging fire, but Ishii blocks it and gets a clothesline for two. Takeshita blocks a brainbuster and gets a poisonrana, but Ishii pops up. They hit each other with huge moves until both are down on the mat. Takeshita gets a knee strike for two. Takeshita calls for Raging Fire and hits it this time for the pin and the win.

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita.  

A great hoss fight.  

Big Bill vs The Already In The Ring Mark Andrews 

That didn’t take long. Bill gets a side slam for the pin and win. 

Winner: Big Bill

After the match, Bill slams Mark through a pair of chairs just because he can. He and Bryan Keith leave through the crowd because he can.

Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Leona) vs The Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake and Zack Gibson)

Ricochet joins commentary. 

Drake and Toa start off, they fight in the corner and Toa catches Drake and hits a fallaway slam. Toa then does a running dive onto Drake in the ring. Gibson gets a blind tag and they hit a series of double team moves on Toa before covering for one. Gibson gets a series of strike before Toa cuts him off with a back elbow. Gibson tags in Drake and they get more double team moves before they knock Kaun from the apron. 

Ricochet gets on the apron and distracts Drake so that Toa can knock him off the top and then works him over on the floor as we go to picture in picture.  

When we return to full screen, Drake has been the babyface in peril through the break. Drake is able to go up and over when Toa charges in the corner and tags in Gibson, who cleans house. He ends the sequence with a Saito slam for two, broken up by Kaun. Toa misses a splash in the corner and Gibson holds him so that Drake can hit a coast-to-coast drop-kick on him. Gibson hits a lung blower from the top of Toa. GYV hit a two-man slam on Toa for two.

Gibson is tagged in and they set for an electric chair, but Tao escapes and knocks Drake out of the ring. GOA double team Gibson and then hit Open The Gates for the pin and the win.

Winners: Gates of Agony

We get a promo from Gabe Kidd and the War Dogs about why he works with the Death Riders and they will take out the Opps tomorrow at Forbidden Door.

Paragon (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) vs The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) 

The Bucks are already in the ring and introduced as Rod and Tod.

Kyle and Matt start with arm bars. Kyle trips Matt. They come up and trade side headlocks before running ropes where Matt gets a shoulder tackle. Kyle clocks a cross arm breake4r and they trade mat holds until Kyle gets an arm bar takeover. Roddy is tagged in and they double-team Matt in the corner. Nick tries to break up and they knock him away. They get a snap suplex on Matt and when Matt goes for the tag, Nick drops off the apron.

They nail Matt with kicks and when Nick tries to get into the ring to break i t up, he trips on the second rope. He is clotheslined to the floor and Nick starts kicking things in frustration hurting his feet. Kyle gets a guillotine choke, but Matt gets out of it and lays in kicks on both Roddy and Kyle. Nick is tagged in and Kyle dodges an attack from the Bucks and tags in Roddy. He takes out both of the Bucks and he runs back and forth hitting for forearms on Matt as he runs by. 

He gets a running slam on Matt. Matt runs a springboard facebuster on Roddy, but backflips onto Nick. Kyle leaps at the Bucks and they nail him with a double superkick. Everyone is now fighting in and out of the ring until the Bucks get a Meltzer driver onto Kyle on the floor and we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Roddy has been the babyface in peril through the break. Roddy gets a fallaway slam on Nick. Matt pulls Kyle off the apron and Nick gets a super kick on Roddy for two. Matt tags in and they try More Bang For Your Buck, but Roddy rolls out of the way and then suplexes Matt into Nick in the corner. Roddy gets the hot tag to Kyle and Kyle runs wild. 

The sequence ends with Kyle and Roddy getting a double team slam on Nick for two. Kyle locks on the cross arm breaker, and Nick gets to the rope for a break. Roddy tags in and they go for the high low, but Nick escapes. Roddy gets taken out by a series of superkicks. Kyle is super kicked to the ropes where he gets the rebound clothesline and all four men are down.

Matt and Kyle are up first and throw hands. Kyle is able to get a guillotine choke. Matt turns it into a pair of Northern Lights suplexes, and he adds Roddy to the third. The Bucks get a two man sliced bread on Kyle after Nick tosses Roddy to the floor and hits a dive on him. 

Roddy breaks up a Meltzer driver and Paragon double team Matt for a two count. Paragon hits the High Low and Nick breaks up the count at two. Kyle gets an ankle lock. Don Callis runs to the ring and gets on the apron, and as he distracts the ref, Kazuchika Okada hits a rainmaker on Kyle, and tries one on Roddy, but the Bucks get a superkick on him. The Bucks finally hit a Meltzer Driver on Kyle for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Young Bucks

Okada and the Bucks start a beat down, and Swerve Strickland shows to walk slowly to the ring to get in Okada’s face. Okada slides out of the ring as Swerve gets in the ring. Swerve takes out the Bucks when they try to attack him from behind, but this allows Okada to hit a chop block from behind. Okada works over the knee and drops Swerve with a rainmaker.

Tony runs down the card for Forbidden Door and we are desperately out of time.
