OVW RISE RECAP FOR 8/21/25

Trouble Makers (Glenn Spectre & Canaan Kristopher) vs. London Lightning & Thunder Storm

The match begins with Kristopher and Spectre jumping their opponents before the bell sounds, Lightning catches Spectre with a high cross body for a near fall. Storm tags in and he nails Spectre with a shoulder tackle for a near fall, Storm and Lightning nail Spectre with a double side Russian leg sweep. Spectre recovers by sending Lightning into the ropes before kicking him in the back of the head, Kristopher and Spectre double team Lightning for another near fall. Spectre tags back in and he hits Lightning with a shoulder tackle for a near fall, Kristopher tags back in and he accidentally boots Spectre in the face. Storm tags in and he quickly cleans house against the opposing team, Spectre tags back in and Storm nails him with a power slam. Kristopher tags in and Storm nails him with a spear, Lightning tags in and he works with Storm before Spectre interferes. Spectre interferes again and he nails Storm in the head before Kristopher rolls him up with a handful of tights for a three count.

Winners: Trouble Makers (Glenn Spectre & Canaan Kristopher)

- A video is shown earlier in the day showing Stephen Steel apologizing to Linda Kay for what went down at OVW Fight Night 2025, Steel offers Kay some chocolates and Kay gets angry with him.

Sophia Rose vs. J-Rod

The match begins with J-Rod and Rose getting into a striking exchange in the middle of the ring, J-Rod gains control by sending Rose into the top turnbuckle. Rose responds by doing the same to J-Rod, J-Rod and Rose battle and they both fall to the arena floor. Rose grabs J-Rod and she sends her into the barricade, J-Rod recovers before sending Rose into the barricade. The referee eventually calls for the bell due to a double count out.

Match Result: Double Count Out

After the match, J-Rod slams Sophia Rose on the arena floor before trapping her in the ring apron while landing strikes. J-Rod and Rose battle back into the ring before laying each other out with a double clothesline, Freya The Slaya appears on the big screen and she wants to see both women continue beating each other up. J-Rod nails a distracted Rose with a spear.

- Highlights are shown from the OVW Rush Division Championship Match at OVW Fight Night 2025.

- OVW Heavyweight Champion Kal Herro makes his way to the ring, Herro gets the microphone and he thanks the OVW fans. Herro says he is proud to still be the OVW Heavyweight Champion, Herro says he will continue to be a fighting champion. Herro talks about his father being a wrestling promoter and his love for professional wrestling, Herro says his chapter with Jamin Olivencia has come to an end. Herro says he will keep his title and it doesn’t matter who his next challenger is.

- Stephen Steele makes his way to the commentator booth and he offers flowers to Linda Kay, who attacks Steele with the flowers.

OVW Tag Team Championship
Jack Vaughn & Donovan Cecil (c) vs. The Trifecta (Ashton Adonis & Brandon Barretta)

The match begins with Barretta trying to chain wrestle Cecil before landing a few strikes, Barretta then cracks Cecil with an enziguri. Cecil quickly regains control after landing chops on Barretta, Barretta fights back and he lands more kicks before eating more chops. Barretta then nails Cecil with a knee strike before eating a clothesline, Vaughn tags in and he gets into an argument with Cecil. Adonis tags in and a four way brawl breaks out between all the competitors in the match, Vaughn and Cecil clear the ring before nearly fighting each other. Vaughn gets Adonis back in the ring before trapping him in the corner while landing strikes, Vaughn drops Adonis with a hard Irish whip into the corner. Vaughn keeps Adonis in the corner while landing shoulder thrusts, Adonis fights back and Vaughn nails him with an elbow strike. Cecil tags in and he nails a cornered Adonis with a headbutt, Cecil then hits Adonis with a suplex.

Vaughn tags in and he stomps away on a downed Adonis, Vaughn traps Adonis in the ropes while landing strikes. Adonis fights back and Vaughn pokes him in the eyes, Barretta distracts Vaughn and that allows Adonis to crotch Vaughn on the top rope. Adonis then nails a downed Vaughn with a knee drop followed by an elbow drop for a near fall, Barretta attacks Vaughn while Adonis distracts the referee. Vaughn recovers and he drops Adonis with a back body drop, Cecil tags in and he cleans house against the opposing team. Cecil nails Adonis with a crucifix bomb while Vaugn and Barretta are on the arena floor, Cecil climbs the ropes and Vaughn tags himself in before they start arguing again. Cecil then takes out Barretta with a suicide dive, Vaughn then hits Adonis with a release side slam. Adonis keeps himself near the ropes while Vaughn lands strikes, Vaughn accidentally hits the ref and Jake Lawless nails him with a steel chair. Adonis catches Vaughn in a small package for a three count.

Winners: The Trifecta (Ashton Adonis & Brandon Barretta), your new OVW Tag Team Champions

After the match, Jack Vaughn and Donovan Cecil argue over what just happened.

- Stephen Steel makes his way through the crowd with a guitar and he tries apologizing to Linda Kay again, Steel says he wants to sing a song to Kay. Steel sings his song and Kay seems disgusted with him, Steel wants to have his electric guitar for the next song and he doesn’t get it before still trying to play another song. Steel goes back to singing to Kay again and Brandon Davis interrupts, Davis mocks Steel’s singing and Steel says his performance is amazing. Davis says that Steel has exceeded all of the OVW’s faithful’s expectations, Davis also accuses Steel of cheating in his matches. Davis says that Steel will never be the main character like he is, Davis says he will have his rematch with Steel tonight and Steel nails him in the head with a guitar.

Lovely Miss Larkan vs. Lili Ruiz

The match begins with Larkan shaking the hand of Ruiz before licking her arm, Larkan gets Ruiz in a headlock before they trade arm holds. Larkan gets Ruiz in another headlock and she kicks her in the head a few times before getting her down, Larkan then kicks Ruiz in the back before landing a rolling neck breaker for a near fall. Ruiz recovers and she nails Larkan with a spine buster, Ruiz mounts a downed Larkan while landing some strikes. Ruiz drops Larkan with a right before getting her in a chin lock, Larkan gets free and she cracks Ruiz with a series of strikes. Larkan looks to stab Ruiz with an invisible knife and Ruiz goes down a few times, Larkan hits Ruiz with a modified DDT for a three count.

Winner: Lovely Miss Larkan

Sin City Outlaws (Luke Hartman & Mad Dog Martin) w/JD Hartman vs. Z Force (Super Z & Kid Colossus) w/Perceval Goodington 13th

The match begins with Z getting Hartman in a headlock, Hartman gets free and Z drops him with a shoulder tackle. Colossus tags in and he works with Z to double team Hartman, Colossus picks up Z and he slams him on a downed Hartman. Hartman tries fighting back and Colossus sends him into the corner before landing an avalanche, Z tags back in and he works with Colossus to land a double avalanche on Hartman. Hartman fights back and Z drops him with a palm thrust, JD jumps on the ring apron and Goodington 13th takes her down. Z gets trapped in the corner as Martin tags in and he lands shoulder thrusts, Hartman tags in and he helps Martin land a headbutt on Z. Hartman traps Z in the corner while landing strikes, Z fights back and he finally tags Colossus in. Colossus quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team, Z tags back in and he nails Hartman with a high cross body for a three count.

Winners: Z Force (Super Z & Kid Colossus) w/Perceval Goodington 13TH

OVW Rush Division Championship
Stephen Steel (c) vs. Brandon Davis

The match begins with the referee starting a 10 count because the injured Davis hasn’t come out, Davis eventually makes his way to the ring and he nails Steele with strikes and a clothesline. Steel recovers and he sends Davis into the middle turnbuckle, Steel then cracks Davis with strikes of his own. Steel follows up by nailing Davis with a DDT, Davis fights back and he cracks Steel with more strikes. Davis drops Steel with a springboard cross body block, Davis follows up by nailing Steel with a spear. Davis collapses due to his injuries and the ref calls for the bell.

Winner: Stephen Steel, still the OVW Rush Division Champion

After the match, the medical staff hits the ring to check on Brandon Davis.

Boy Toy Troy w/Coach Prime vs. Tommy Boy DeNiro

The match begins with Troy shoving DeNiro across  the ring, Prime distracts DeNiro and that allows Troy to land shoulder thrusts. Troy drops DeNiro before landing some follow up strikes, Troy traps DeNiro in the corner while stomping away on him. Prime interferes and he attacks a downed DeNiro while Troy distracts the ref, DeNiro fights back and he nails Troy with some strikes. Troy recovers and he nails DeNiro with strikes of his own, Prime interferes again and he chokes DeNiro on the bottom rope. Troy drops DeNiro in the corner again before stomping away on him again, Troy follows up by hitting DeNiro with a bronco b buster. Prime interferes again while Troy distracts the referee, DeNiro fights back again and Troy levels him with a clothesline for a near fall. Prime jumps on the ring apron and DeNiro knocks Troy into him, DeNiro then drops Troy with multiple clotheslines. DeNiro then hits Troy with an avalanche followed by a bulldog, DeNiro then hits Troy with a knee strike for a three count.

Winner: Tommy Boy DeNiro

After the match, Tony Evans confronts Tommy Boy DeNiro and Jay DeNiro comes out to make the save.

Erik Surge vs. Leo Fox

The match begins with Fox attacking Surge before the bell sounds, Surge fights back and he nails Fox with strikes. Fox recovers and he drops Surge on the top turnbuckle before landing an exploder suplex, Surge fights back again and he nails Fox with a series of clotheslines. Surge nails a cornered Fox with a leaping avalanche, Surge then nails a swinging Fox with a spine buster. Surge then hits Fox with a Bombshell before Tony Gunn comes out on stage with a microphone.

Match Result: No Contest

After the match, Gunn says Surge is still the OVW United States Champion because Surge competed in a triple threat match at OVW Fight Night 2025. Gunn says he took Surge to his limit, and he challenges Surge to a single match for the championship next week, Surge gets a microphone and Surge accepts. Leo Fox returns and he nails Surge with a low blow followed by a clothesline.

- Al Snow makes his way to the ring to make an announcement, Snow talks about his career as a professional wrestler. Snow also says the OVW fans are the best fans in the world of professional wrestling, Snow announces that there will be another round of documentary filming starting in September. Snow then brings out Jamin Olivencia to the ring, Olivencia lays some of his gear down in the middle of the ring. Olivencia talks about how dangerous following your dreams can be, Olivencia talks about his dream being snatched away from him a decade ago. Olivencia thought he was done as a wrestler until returning to OVW two years ago, Olivencia says he appreciates all the support he has gotten. Olivencia says that there is only one person who could unretire and retire him, with that person being Kal Herro. Olivencia says his battles with Herro were to help him become the best OVW Heavyweight Champion of all time, Olivencia says he is retiring from professional wrestling. Olivencia thanks OVW and the fans for everything, Olivencia says dreams sometimes come true and sometimes they don’t. Olivencia says his daughter is the reason he lives and breathes, Olivencia thanks more people for being there during his career.
