HOW WWE WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO PLEs TO ESPN, NEW 'MAIN ROSTER CONTENT' COMING TO PEACOCK

The Hollywood Reporter, in covering WWE moving their PPV events from Peacock to ESPN, is reporting that ESPN did not buy out the WWE deal from NBC Universal.

Instead, WWE negotiated their own exit, built around the idea that with multi-night events like Wrestlemania and Summerslam, among other additional events, that they had fulfilled their obligations to Peacock.   They then approached ESPN with the idea of moving their live events content, with Peacock approving.

The report also states that "WWE and Peacock have worked out a deal to include new main-roster WWE programming to stream on the NBCUniversal digital platform; details of that programming are expected to be announced soon."

The final live PLE from the WWE main roster will be the 8/31 Clash in Paris.   NXT events will remain with Peacock.

WWE debuted on Peacock in March 2021.  The WWE Network llibrary is currently licensed to Peacock through Mid-March 2026.
