Welcome to PWInsider.com’s Ring of Honor Report for Episode 129 on August 14, 2025! Scheduled for the show is the following:

*ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty vs. Xelhua - Proving Ground Match

*Lance Archer will be in action

*Leila Grey with Christopher Daniels vs. Taya Valkyrie with Johnny TV

*Oro vs. Tomohiro Ishii

*Volador Jr., Difunto, The Beast Mortos, and Hechicero vs. Angelico, Serpentico, Alex Zayne, and AR Fox

*Willie Mack vs. Gringo Loco

Volador Jr., Difunto, The Beast Mortos, and Hechicero with Lance Archer vs. Spanish Announce Project, Alex Zayne, and AR Fox

This match will be contested under Lucha Rules.

Angelico and Hechicero start things off with Hechicero kicking away the Code of Honor. They lock up. Hechicero goes behind, but Angelico reverses it. Angelico grabs an arm, but Hechicero wiggles away. Hechicero picks a leg and then rolls up Angelico. Angelico hits an arm drag and a roll up for a once count. They exchange leg sweeps and pin attempts until a standoff and a brief dance off. AR Fox and Difunto tag in. THey lock up and Difunto flips Fox over and then hits an arm drag. Fox grabs an arm and hits an arm drag. Difunto hits a back elbow and then drops down on Fox for a two count. Difunto goes for a suplex, but Fox blocks it and hits a twisting suplex. Alex Zayne and The Beast Mortos tag in. Zayne ducks a discus strike and sends Mortos to the corner. Zayne hits a back splash and then goes to the apron. Zayne hits a headscissors and hits the ropes. Zayne flips over Mortos and they have a standoff.

Zayne hits the ropes and hits a double stomp on Mortos who dropped down. Zayne hits a twisting senton. Serpentico and Volador Jr. tag in. They take turns trying to get the crowd behind them until Volador kicks Serpentico and sends him to the corner. Serpentico leaps over Volador and hits two arm drags. Serpentico hits a running strike in the corner, but gets sent to the opposite corner. Serpentico avoids Volador and kicks him. Serpentico hits a headscissors for a two count. Volador rolls to the floor and Serpentico hits the ropes. Lance Archer trips up Serpentico and the rudos all knock the opposite team off of the apron.

Mortos and Volador hold Serpentico for Difunto to hit a flying tailbone dropkick. Difunto hits a shotgun dropkick on Angelico. Angelico is sent across the ring and eats a flurry of strikes from Mortos. Volador hits Angelico with a superkick. Zayne comes in and gets quadruple teamed. Difunto hits a running strike on Zayne in the corner and Mortos stands on a seated Zayne in the corner. Difunto hits a running dropkick on the ropes on Zayne in the corner and Mortos gets a two count. Hechicero comes in and works Zayne over in the corner. Hechicero snapmares Zayne and hits him with a basement dropkick.

Fox comes in and gets sent across the ring. Fox dodges Hechicero and then fights off Volador, Mortos, and Difunto. Fox hops to the top rope and hits a dive on Difunto and Mortos. Fox fights off Volador and hits a rolling neckbreaker on Difunto and then Mortos. Fox goes to the apron and kicks Hechicero to the mat. Fox hits a Swanton Bomb on Hechicero. Zayne does, as well, for a two count on Hechicero. Zayne hits a spin through slam on Hechicero for a two count as his teammates hit a triple dive on the rudos. Hechicero shakes it off and knees Zayne. Hechicero rolls and rolls and rolls Zayne into a roll up for the win!

Winners: Hechicero, Volador Jr., Difunto, and The Beast Mortos

Hechicero, Volador Jr., Difunto, The Beast Mortos, and Lance Archer beat up Spanish Announce Project, Alex Zayne, and AR Fox until Brody King, Hologram, Bandido, and Tomohiro Ishii come out to make the save.

An AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door commercial airs.

Ariya Daivari tries to be a luchador in the back, but can’t do it. Mark Sterling tells him that he was doing great and it was all about promoting their match against the CMLL wrestlers. Daivari tells Neon and Mascara Dorada, through the camera, that The Premier Athletes will kick their asses. Tony Nese says that regular rules or Lucha Rules don’t matter. It’s The Premier Athletes who rule.

Willie Mack vs. Gringo Loco

The Code of Honor is followed and they lock up. Willie Mack grabs an arm, but Gringo Loco reverses it. Mack rolls out of it. They lock up and Mack drives Loco to the ropes and chops him. Loco is sent to the ropes, but hits a handspring into a roll. Loco cartwheels out of an arm drag. Mack cartwheels out of a headscissors. Mack hits the ropes and both men pull back on a punch. They lock up again and Mack drives Loco to the corner. Mack breaks clean…and then slaps Loco. Loco is sent to the corner, but leaps over Mack. Loco does a little dance and then ducks a clothesline. Mack hits a tackle and does a little dance, as well. 

Mack ducks a clothesline and hits a headscissors. Loco rolls to the floor and Mack hits the ropes. Loco moves out of the way, so Mack rolls back to the middle of the ring and does a little thrusting. Loco slides into the ring as Mack slides out. Loco kicks Mack and then hits a moonsault off of the middle turnbuckle onto Mack on the floor. Loco rolls Mack back into the ring and climbs to the top rope. Loco goes for the switchfoot moonsault, but Mack rolls out of the way. Loco lands on his feet, but eats a tackle for a two count. Mack climbs to the top rope, but Loco cuts him off and joins him on the ropes. Loco hits a Spanish Fly for a two count.

Loco climbs to the middle rope and leaps at Mack. Mack kicks Loco in the gut and hits The Stunner. Mack hits the ropes and hits a standing Shining Wizard variation. Mack climbs to the top rope and hits a frog splash for the win!

Winner: Willie Mack

An ROH Death Before Dishonor commercial airs.

Lance Archer vs. Ren Jones

Lance Archer comes out from the back already beating up Ren Jones. Archer beats up Jones all the way down the ramp and then around the ring. Jones tries to fight back, but Archer lays him out and sends him into the guardrail. Archer hits a flurry of overhand chops on Jones against the guardrail and then rolls Jones into the ring. The referee calls for the match to start. Archer hits three running strikes in the corner and then lifts Jones to the top turnbuckle. Archer lifts up Jones and hits The Blackout for the win!

Winner: Lance Archer

A video package airs for Xelhua.

The confrontation between Athena and Toni Storm from last night’s AEW Dynamite is shown.

A Mina Shirakawa video airs. Athena broke her hand, so Shirakawa is going to break Athena’s heart. Athena took Shirakawa’s AEW Championship opportunity, so Shirakawa is going to take Athena’s title. Official for Death Before Dishonor - Athena vs. Mina Shirakawa for the ROH Women’s World Championship.

Leila Grey with Christopher Daniels vs. Taya Valkyrie with Johnny TV

The Code of Honor is followed. Taya Valkyrie ducks under a lock up. Leila Grey hits Valkyrie with some forearms and a chop. Grey is sent to the ropes and hits a sunset flip for a two count. Grey hits the ropes and hits a hurricanrana for a two count. Valkyrie catches a kick, but eats an enzuigiri. Grey hits a running kick in the corner and then hits a basement clothesline for a two count. Grey kicks Valkyrie in the back a couple of times and then hits the ropes. Johnny TV grabs Grey’s leg, which allows Valkyrie to hit a clothesline. Valkyrie kicks Grey in the back and then in the leg. Valkyrie drops down on Grey’s leg and gets a two count. Valkyrie pulls Grey’s hair and then sends her to the floor. 

Valkyrie heads to the floor, as well, and makes out with Johnny TV. Valkyrie rolls Grey back into the ring, but Grey starts to fight back. Valkyrie cuts Grey off and grabs an arm stretch on a seated Grey. Grey is able to stand up and elbow out of it. Grey hits a jawbreaker and a clothesline. Grey hits another clothesline and a pump kick. Grey hits a running knee in the corner and goes for a cutter. Valkyrie pushes Grey off and they hit a double face buster on each other. They exchange strikes as they stand up until Valkyrie hits a kick and a knee. Grey dodges a kick and hits a cutter for a two count. Grey climbs to the middle rope, but gets distracted by Johnny TV who hops onto the apron. Valkyrie pulls Grey to the mat and then makes out with Johnny TV. Christopher Daniels pulls Johnny TV to the floor as Grey hits another cutter. Grey locks on a Dragon Sleeper and Valkyrie taps.

Winner: Leila Grey

Willie Mack is in the locker room. Mack is happy to be back and even happier to get a win over Gringo Loco. Mack wants a shot at some gold and has the ROH World Television Championship in mind. Nick Wayne, Kip Sabian, and Mother Wayne interrupt. Wayne can’t believe that Mack would be interested in his title after everything Wayne has done to people lately. Wayne dares Mack to come after the ROH World Television Championship.

Oro vs. Tomohiro Ishii

Oro offers to follow the Code of Honor, but Tomohiro Ishii declines. They lock up and Ishii drives Oro to the ropes. Oro slips out and chops Ishii. Ishii chops him back, but Oro hits a knee. Ishii shakes it off and hits a tackle. Oro goes to the apron and kicks Ishii. Oro goes for a springboard move, but Ishii knocks him out of mid-air. Ishii catches an Oro kick, but Oro is able to hit a spinning kick and then a rolling kick. Oro chops Ishii and then hits a European uppercut. Oro snapmares Ishii and kicks him in the back. Oro hits Ishii with a straight punch and then grabs a chinlock. Ishii is able to work out of it with elbows, but Oro clubs down on his back and then hits an exploder for a two count.

Oro sets up for a superkick, but Ishii catches it. Oro forearms Ishii, but Ishii fires up and strikes Oro. Ishii hits a Saito Suplex and then chops and punches Oro in the corner. Ishii is sent to the corner, but comes out with a lariat. Oro knees out of a brainbuster and hits a springboard moonsault on Ishii. Oro hits a Dragon Suplex for a two count. They exchange strikes until Ishii hits a headbutt. Oro kicks a charging Ishii and hits a spinning DDT over the top rope. Oro hits a springboard kick and goes for a ripcord clothesline, but Ishii blocks it with a lariat. Ishii hits a brainbuster for the win!

Winner: Tomohiro Ishii

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty vs. Xelhua - Proving Ground Match

The Code of Honor is followed and they lock up. Xelhua grabs an arm and then stretches the other arm of Lee Moriarty. Moriarty reverses, but Xelhua reverses back. Moriarty is able to reverse into an abdominal stretch. Xelhua elbows out and grabs an arm, but Moriarty flips Xelhua over. Xelhua sweeps Moriarty’s leg and hits a splash for a two count. Moriarty sweeps a leg and gets a two count. Moriarty picks a leg and drops down on it into a knee bar. Xelhua reverses into a leg stretch with Moriarty’s arms also tied up. Moriarty breaks the hold and pins Xelhua for a two count. Xehlua hits a monkey flip and rolls through. Xelhua gets a few one counts and then gets caught in a kimura. Xelhua uses his first rope break to get out of the hold.

They lock up and Moriarty grabs a side headlock. Moriarty is sent to the ropes and hits a tackle. Xelhua doesn’t budge. Moriarty hits the ropes again and eats a forearm. Xelhua ties up Moriarty’s legs and falls back to lock in the hold and Moriarty’s head, as well. Moriarty uses his first rope break to get out of the hold. Moriarty chops Xelhua, but falls from a Xelhua chop. Xelhua ties up Moriarty’s legs again, but gets shoved away. Moriarty is sent to the ropes, but goes to the apron. Moriarty grabs Xelhua’s arm and pumps it over his shoulder. Moriarty hits a springboard strike for a two count.

Moriarty ties up Xelhua’s legs and grabs a front facelock. Moriarty drops back, causing Xelhua to use his second rope break. Moriarty hits a throat thrust, but is sent to the ropes. Xelhua hits two arm drags and a tilt-a-while backbreaker for a two count. Xelhua ties up Moriarty’s arms and legs and rolls him up for a two count. Xelhua ties up Moriarty again with an inside cloverleaf, but Moriarty uses his second rope break. Moriarty pops Xelhua’s arm with his legs and then slams him down. Moriarty locks on the Border City Stretch, but Xelhua rolls Lee up for a two count. Xelhua ties up Moriarty and lifts him into the air, but Moriarty reverses into a roll up for a two count.

They exchange strikes until Moriarty hits a flurry of forearms. Xelhua hits a back elbow and then tries to lift up Moriarty. Moriarty blocks it and rolls Xelhua up for a two count. Moriarty locks on the Border City Stretch, but Xelhua slips out and ties Moriarty up. Xelhua sits back on the hold…but time runs out.

Winner: Time Limit Draw

With the Time Limit Draw, Xelhua has earned a shot at the ROH Pure Championship. Lee Moriarty and Xelhua shake hands after the match.
