8/13 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2025-08-13 22:09:00

It’s Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is live from Cincinnati OH at the Andrew J Brady Music Center. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz.

MJF comes to the ring with a mic and the boos of the crowd. Hangman Adam Page follows and if they get physical with each other, they will be hit with a six figure fine. MJF says they are Day One home-grown stars with Page as the main character and MJF is the main antagonist. MJF says Page is at his most vulnerable when he is angry, and he is good at making Page very, very angry. MJF says the only reason he is still standing is that MJF doesn’t want to break him.

Page charges and knocks the mic out of MJF's hand. He says he won’t give MJF a title shot because he has to earn it, which he hasn’t, or execute the contract. Page says if he’s not here to do either of those things…and the crowd interrupts for a chant the MJF is a tabby.  Or close to it.

MJF tells the crowd to shut up and says that Page is the problem. MJF says he will show the world that Page is a fraud. He will show people Page is a weak-minded, alcoholic little boy. He says he doesn’t mind people calling him the devil because he is real. He needs to get his title back and he will take the wood sheep's clothing that Page has. MJF says he will take their god and crucify him.

Page says he understands MJF’s point, but MJF doesn’t understand that no one knows Page’s faults like he does, and he will not run from them. He says MJF does not have a match with him at Forbidden Door, just a contract. He says MJF won’t take his shot because he is afraid. He tells MJF if he has any respect for himself, take his shot and sign his contract. Page keeps goading MJF until MJF executes his contract.

MJF then looks despondent that he did that. Page then says he will see him at Forbidden Door.

Next up is a video redcap of the feud between Darby Allin and Jon Moxley. We then go to outside the arena where Jon Moxley says whatever he thinks is happening is not happening. Mox then goes into the arena with Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir.

Jon Moxley vs Kevin Knight w/Speedball Mike Bailey

Knight attacks at the bell and stomps down Mox in the corner. Mox is able to attack after the ref tells Knight to back off and they run the ropes. Knight gets an arm drag and then starts throwing chops in the middle of the ring. Mox wins the exchange and they run the ropes again and Mox goes for a Texas cloverleaf after Mox dodges a drop-kick, but Knight fights it off. They fight to the floor and brawl at ringside. Knight leaps onto the apron and gets a drop-kick from there onto Mox on the floor.

Knight rolls Mox into the ring and Mox cuts him off with an eye gauge. They fight onto the ramp and Knight leaps onto Mox and starts pounding. Mox goes to the floor and Knight leaps at him, but Mox dodges as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox has both of Knight’s arms trapped. Knight is able to break free. Mox lays in kicks and jacks his jaw at Knight. Knight gets to his feet and they throw hands. Mox grabs Knight’s arm and bites it, and the ref admonishes him for it. Knight gets a drop-kick and both men are slow to get up. Knight grabs Mox’s arm and bites back. He then gets a pair of running clotheslines. Knight hits a scoop slam followed by a standing frog splash for two.

Knight goes for a DDT and Mox fights it off. Knight gets a drop-kick in the corner and puts Mox on top. Knight joins him and Mox gets a back rake and a thumb to the eye. Knight leaps back up on top for a superplex for two. Mox gets a cutter and trees for a pile driver, but Knight turns it into a jack knife pin for two. Knight gets a pop-up power bomb for two. Mox rolls to the floor and Knight hits a dive over the turnbuckles to the floor on Mox.

Knight gets on the apron and when Yuta tries to grab his foot, Knight hits a mule kick. Knight gets the UFO splash but Mox gets his knees up. Mox grabs a sleeper and Knight has to tap out.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Mox won’t let go of the hold and Speedball gets into the ring to break it up, and he gets attacked by Yuta. This brings Darby out from the back with a body bag and a skateboard. Darby walks slowly to the ring and Marina steps in front of Mox. Knight attacks Mox and Yuta goes for an attack on Darby and takes a skateboard to the face. Yuta gets stuffed into a body bag. Darby goes to the top for a coffin drop and Claudio Castagnoli shows up to attack Darby.

Claudio frees Yuta and then stuffs Darby in the body bag. Claudio puts the body bag into the hands-free airplane spin for a slam. Yuta brings in a chair and they pull Darby’s head out of the bag and wraps a chair around Darby’s head. Before Claudio can do anything, Will Ospreay pulls Claudio out of the ring and beats him down, and then attacks Yuta to save Darby.

Ospreay grabs a mic and tells Mox to get his friends and Ospreay will get his friends, and they will have a lights out steel cage fight.

We then get a video recap of the issues between Adam Copeland and Stokely.

Mercedes Mone, Thekla, and Skye Blue w/Julia Hart vs Alex Windsor, Queen Aminata, and Willow Nightingale

We then see Toni Storm in the crowd, but she is interrupted by Athena’s music and she is on the opposite side of the arena.

Alex and Blue start the match and after Alex gets a snap mare, they trade quick attacks. Alex runs through Blue with a shoulder tackle. Willow tags in and gives Blue ten clotheslines in the corner for two, broken up by Mone. Mone and Aminata tag in and Mone gets a drop toe hold Aminata gets a swinging full nelson followed by chocolate kisses. Alex is tagged in again and she hits a pair of scoop slams for two.

Alex tries for a sharpshooter, but has to fight off Blue and then Thekla. Mone forces Alex into her corner as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Alex has been the babyface in peril through the break. Willow gets the hot tag right before we come back and she runs wild. Mone stays out of the ring, letting Thekla and Blue take Willow’s attacks. We then get each person coming in to get a big attack on the last person in the ring. Thekla, Blue and Mone are stacked in the corner as each member of Willow’s team charges into them. Willow covers Thekla for two.

Aminata tags in and hits a running side slam on Thekla for two. Aminata headbutts Hart off the apron, which allows Thekla to attack. Mone tags in. Aminata blocks Mone’s blow and tags in Alex, who blasts Mone for two. Alex gets a scorpion death lock on Mone and Mone gets a tag to Blue. Time for everyone to get a big move on the last person yet again. A;lex and Blue are the last two standing and Alex gets a rollup for two. Alex hits a pop-up power bomb and gets a sharpshooter and Blue has to tap out.

Winners: Alex Windsor, Queen Aminata, and Willow Nightingale

In the crowd, Athena attacks Toni and they brawl through the crowd. In the ring, Alex’s team is beaten down so that Mone can work over Alex. Athena and Toni fight to the ring, and Alex recovers and drops Mone. They take the ring as Mone rolls to the ramp. And Storm says they will finish this in Scotland.

There is a sign in the crowd that reads “Bring Back Terriers with Donal Logue” and I could not agree more.

In the back, Renee Paquette is with Will Ospreay. He says he called his old boss and Hiroshi Tanahashi will be on his team against the Death Riders. He then tells Renee to tell her husband he’d like a chat with him next week.

Adam Copeland vs Stokley

Stokely is forced out to the ring by security, and eventually they carry Stokely to the ring.

Stokely tries a spear and it does not work, and Taz is having a blast with the comedy aspects. Stokely tries again and Cope does not move. Stokely asks for a fist bump. Cope does too and then pops him one. Stokley rolls to the floor and then grabs a mic. He asks a fan what he thinks of Stokley and the fan says “He’s short, he’s bald and he can’t get any hoes.” He goes on to ask a woman in the crowd if he has a chance, and she says no. Cope rolls Stokely into the ring and hits a spear.

FTR comes to the stage and Cope calls for them to get into the ring. They don’t, because if they do, their restraining order is null and void. Cope spears him again. And says FTR must not care about him. FTR now comes to the ring. Cope is able to fight them off until Stokely throws powder into Cope’s eyes. The ref calls the match.

Winner: Adam Copeland

FTR and Stokley beat down after the match. As they set up for a spoke pile driver, we hear Christian Cage’s music. And Cage runs to the ring with Spike, the 2 by 4 with nails in it. They bail and Nick Wayen rolls into the ring with a chair and Cage knocks it out of his hand. Kip Sabian tries to attack and Cope hits him with a spear. Cope and Cage are in the ring back to back and the crowd chants “Hug it out.”

Cage hands Spike over to Cope and then they hug.

We then get a short video with the Hook signal in the sky.

There is a huge pyro display and we then hear “We’re sorry, we have no music for the Young Bucks tonight”, and the screen says Mr. Instant Replay and Slick Nick, their original names on the indies.

Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), Josh Alexander, and Kyle Fletcher vs Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii, Hologram, and Hiromu Takahashi

Takahashi will be challenging Kyle for the TNT Title at Forbidden Door.

The match breaks down quickly to a ringside brawl after Takahashi gets a series of attacks on Kyle

He cannonballs into Kyle in the corner and then onto the Bucks on the floor.

Josh takes out Brody with a cross body on the floor

Ishii and Kyle fight on the apron and Takahashi hits a drop-kick into Kyle’s legs as he fights with Ishii.

Ishii gets a clothesline and a two count on Kyle

Hologram gets a 450, but Kyle gets his knees up.

Time for everyone to get a big move, and it ends with Kyle getting an assisted spike pile driver with Matt

When we come back from another break, Hologram is able to take out the Bucks and then Kyle, but he’s down

Takahashi is able to tag in and he cleans house ending with a drop-kick on Kyle for two

Winners: Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii, Hologram, and Hiromu Takahashi

Tony Schiavone is now the ring announcer.

Renee is at ringside and is trying to talk to the crowd, but her mic is not working. They get it fixed and it’s time for Swerve Strickland to come to the stage. She asks that since he was checking in with the doctors, is he medically cleared. Swerve says it’s a hard business, but nothing will stop him from facing Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door.

This brings out Okada, and he tells Swerve with his knee problems, Swerve has no chance so he might as well give up now. Swerve has the crowd remind Okada whose house it is. Okada calls Swerve a bitch and Swerve knocks him on his backside. Security shows and gets between them.

Backstage, Alicia Atout tells Jon Moxley that Hiromu Tanahashi is on Ospreay’s team. He then goes to the Young Bucks in the “Extras” room.

Tony announces that Adam Copeland and Christian Cage will face Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian at Forbidden Door. And in the lights out steel cage match, it’s the Death Riders, Gabe Kidd and the Young Bucks vs Darby Allin, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, and Koto Ibushi.

The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs) AEW Trios Champions vs La Faccion Ingobernables (Rush, Mortos, and Dralistico)

Mortos and Hobbs start off and Hobbs gets a flying shoulder tackle. Dralistico tags in and gets a spin slam on him. Joe tags in and hits a series of jobs on Dralistico. He then gets a charge followed by an insigiri in the corner. Shibata is tagged in and he gets a snap mare on Dralistico. He then knocks LFI off the apron. LFI then gets into the ring and they do the same and triple team Shibata as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Shibata has been the babyface in peril through the break. Shibata and Rush throw hands in the middle of the ring and then Shibata beats Rush down in the corner. Rush reverses it and does the same. Shibata does it again and they throw hands in the middle of the ring. Shibata gets a leg sweep and both men are down.

Hobbs and Mortos are tagged in and Hobbs runs wild. Hobbs finishes up with a spine buster on Mortos for two, broken up by Rush and Dralistico. Joe and Dralistico tag in and they fight in the corner. Joe is able to get the coquina clutch. Hobbs holds back Mortos and Shibata holds back Rush so that Dralistico has to tap out.

Winners and still AEW Trios Champions: The Opps

Excalibur runs down the upcoming cards as the Opps hold the ring to celebrate.

As Page is leaving Renee asks him how prepared he is for his match with MJF, and MJF attacks him and beats him down in the parking garage and says Page hasn’t seen anything yet.
