A new promotion, Global League Wrestling will be launching next month in India and has already announced that it will be carried on digital platform DD in that country with the series premiering on 10/4, according to BestMediaInfo.com. .
In researching for more information, PWInsider.com believes that the new group has been founded by Cam Vale, owner of two Australian wrestling companies, Melbourne City Wrestling and Oceania Pro Wrestling.
The artcle published by Best Media Info notes that UK-based AdiGroupe will be involved. We can confirm that have a presence in India, but have not confirmed much more about their involvement.
Prasar Bharati, which in India is a Public Broadcaster (sort of the equivalent of PBS) will also be involved.
Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman, Prasar Bharati, told BestMediaInfo.com, “This marks a new era for Indian pro-wrestling. The idea is to catapult the Indian sports to the global standards. Building on our existing partnerships with Hockey India, the Handball Association of India, PGTI, and others, this partnership reinforces our commitment to promote a variety of sports and will give India’s next generation of youth and athletes a national platform.”
The promotion will be running 9/17 in Delhi, India and it is expected they will be announcing something in the area of 40 weeks of episodic TV that would be taped and post-produced.
We have not yet confirmed talents involved with the exception of WWE Hall of Famer The Great Khali, who will appear as the promotion's Commisioner. He was also support "talent development" and the creative direction of the company.
