8/6 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

It’s Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is live from Cleveland OH at the Wolstein Center. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz.

MJF starts with a promo running down Mark Briscoe. 

Jon Moxley w/Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta vs Speedball Mike Bailey w/Kevin Knight

Thank goodness SOMEONE has learned to bring out a second when facing the Death Riders.

Speedball runs right at Mox when the bell rings and lays in kicks in the corner. Speedball gets a series of strikes before Mox grabs him and gets ten in the corner on Speedball. Speedball lays in a chop and Mox slaps him down and stands on his throat in the corner for a count of four. Mox slams Speedball for one. Mox gets a rear chicken wing with a jaw clasp. Speedball works to his feet and Mox drops him and yells at the ref.

Speedball and Mox trade blows back and forth. Speedball gets a drop-kick and Mox goes to the floor. Speedball gets another big kick and when he goes to the apron, Mox gets an eye poke and Speedball goes to the floor with Shafir looming over him. Yuta distracts the ref and Shafir sweeps Speedball’s feet. Knight gets in her face as Mox tosses Speedball back into the ring. Mox slaps Knight and they go face to face as Speedball hits a moonsault onto Mox. 

Speedball works over Mox on the floor and then gets a knee drop from a backflip while on the barricade as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox has an arm bar on Speedball and is working over the fingers of Speedball. The ref makes him break and Speedball is able to fight back in the corner before Mox beats him down with elbows. Speedball gets a series of kicks, a drop-kick from the corner. He keeps firing kicks and then gets a standing shooting start press for two. Speedball starts working Mox’s arm. He goes to the top and hits a shooting start press on Mox for two and then grabs the juji gitame arm bar on Mox. Mox tries to back out and is able to lift Speedball. Speedball is able to bring Mox back down.

They trade two count rollups back and forth until Speedball gets another backflip knee strike for two. The ref is distracted by Knight and Shafir and Yuta grabs Speedball’s boot. This allows Mox to get a slam, flipping Speedball for two. We then see that Darby Allin grabs Yuta with a towel over his face. Speedball is able to get a rollup for two. He then gets a back heel kick and a spin kick for two. Speedball goes right into the juji gitame. Mox is able to reverse it into a choke. Mox is able to get Speedball up for the Death Rider for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Mox takes off quickly to chase after Allin. 

Renee Paquette is with Alex Windsor and Toni Storm. They cut a quick promo and the gimmick is that Alex does not want to say anything sexual, but being around Toni, she starts saying things that could be taken that way.

In the back, Mox and Shafir find a body bag and Allin drives by. They open it up and Yuta is in the body bag with a sign that reads “Forbidden Door” on it. 

We then get a video of Renee earlier today when Mercedes Mone showed up. Mone says that her match with Storm at All In was the best women's match ever. Mone tells her not to be such a mark.

Alex Windsor vs Queen Aminata vs Skye Blue vs Billie Starkz w/Athena - For a match at Forbidden Door for the TBS title

Toni Storm comes to the ring after everyone has come to ringside.

After everyone starts fighting, they all go after Skye Blue and Starkz. Aminata gets a snap mare on Alex and hits the chocolate kisses. Aminata is tossed and we then get Skye and Alex going back and forth. Skye gets a running knee strike and Aminata tosses her to the floor. Skye sweeps Aminata’s legs and gets a swinging neckbreaker to the floor. Alex then dives onto the other three as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Aminata is beating down Skye in the ring and Skye gets a big kick. Skye tries for Code Blue and Alex breaks it up and we get a pair of two counts from each of them. Starkz gets into the ring and Skye gets a power bomb on her for two. Alex then gets a sharpshooter on Skye, but Aminata uses kicks to break up the hold. Alex and Aminata trade shots back and forth, but they are taken down by Skye and Starkz.

Alex and Aminata get German suplexes on Skye and Starkz and they take each other down with headbutts. Starkz goes to the top as Alex and Skye fight in the corner. Skye gets a Code Blue from the top on Alex for two, broken up by Aminata. Aminata covers Skye and then gets out of the way when Starkz hits a swanton. 

Skye drops Aminata to the floor and sets up a chair. Aminata stops Skye and then drives Skye shoulder first into the chair. In the ring, Starkz and Alex go back and forth. Alex gets a lariat and Athena tries to get into the ring but Storm stops her and drops her with a roundhouse punch.

In the ring, Alex gets a small package rollup for the pin and the win.

Winner and moving on the TBS Title Match: Alex Windsor

Mercedes Mone comes to the ring after the match. She faces off with Alex with Storm on the apron. As Storm watches the confrontation, Athena hits her with an O Face from the top and Mone hits a backstabber on Alex. Athena and Mone face off for a bit before Athena leaves the ring to leave Mone standing tall. 

Renee is with the Young Bucks and they are upset with production and give the production guy a list of things they demand for their entrance. 

In the ring, Renee is in the ring for Kyle Fletcher and the rest of the Don Callis Family. Don says he is building the biggest faction for one reason, power. We also get a video recap of the street fight that put Dustin Rhodes out last week. Kyle then talks about how the TNT Title is the start of his legacy and he will be the greatest TNT champion of all time. Don says he has a new work of art for Kyle and it’s another painting with Don looking super buff and Kyle’s swimsuit area covered by the title belt. 

Kyle says his first defense of his title will be Saturday and he doesn’t care who shows up. 

In the back, Alicia Atout is with Adam Copeland and he doesn’t know what his take on what happened to Christian Cage because he hasn’t learned anything and hasn’t changed. He says his hands are filled with FTR and next week, he is taking on Stokely and if FTR interferes, the restraining order is removed.

Bandido and Brody King vs The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) - Tag Team Title Tournament

The Bucks get their music and big screen entrance, but the entrance screen only comes up a few feet. Justin Roberts then reads the Young Bucks’ note verbatim which tells him to introduce them properly. Their pyro then misfires. The music messes up and they get the intro screen with their losses and their names in Comic Sans. Oh, and their names are listed as Max and Jeremy.

Bandido and Nick start off the match by running the ropes. Matt gets into the ring and Bandido gets a tornado from the top onto both of them. Brody is tagged in and he runs through both of the Bucks. Bandido is tagged in and Brody helps Bandido go to the top rope and moonsault onto the Bucks on the floor. Brody and Bandido beat down the Bucks on the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Brody tosses Bandido onto Nick for two. Brody is tagged in and Nick is able to get a mule kick and tags in Matt so they can hit Risky Business on Brody for two. The Bucks work over Brody with quick tags and keeping them in their corner. The Bucks try to hit More Bang For Your Buck and Matt can’t hold Brody up and Nick leaps into a strike from Brody. 

Brody tags in Bandido, who is cut off as the Bucks hit a series of double team moves.  The Bucks dive onto both Brody and Bandido, and everyone is on the floor recovering. Once again, we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, the Bucks set for the trigger, and as they argue over the name, Bandido is able to escape. Brody tags in and goes wild. Brody actually springs over the top rope and cannonballs into the Bucks on the floor. Brody then pulls the rope up as Bandido uses it to springboard into the Bucks.

That was great.

Bandido gets a frog splash on Nick in the ring for two. Brody drops Bandido onto Nick, but Nick gets the knees up. Matt hits a super kick on Brody and then a Code Red on Bandido. Matt goes to the top and Brody joins him there and hits a superplex from the top. Bandido is catapulted, but Matt moves out of the way. Nick gets a Canadian Destroyer on Bandido and the Bucks have a super kick party. Bandido takes a TK Driver for two, and Brody breaks it up.

Matt hits a leaping DDT on the apron on Bandido, and then they hit a Death Valley Driver on the apron on Brody. Nick and Bandido fight on the barricade and Bandido tosses Nick onto Matt. Matt is rolled into the ring and Bandido gets a GTS and follows with the 21 plex, broken up by Nick. Brody dives on Nick and Bandido gets a blockbuster on Matt from the top for two.

Brody then catapults Bandido onto Matt for the pin and the win.

Winners and moving on to the finals: Bandido and Brody King

We then get a video package showing the feud between MJF and Mark Briscoe, our main event.

In the back, Renee with the MVP and the Hurt Syndicate, and MVP gives best wishes to the teams in the final and they will be all too happy to hurt them.  MJF shows and the Hurt syndicate leaves. He helped MVP to help him win the title, and MVP says when you join the Syndicate it’s WE, not ME. He then says he will leave him in one healthy piece to chase the title. And if MJF does succeed, Bobby Lashley will be coming for him. 

Alicia is with FTR and Stokely and they say they got the ban on Copeland for Copley’s health and they can’t be responsible for what Stokely does. Stokely calls Copeland a bully but he’s been in fights his whole life. Nice promo from Stokley.

We then get a video package for the feud between Kazuchika Okada and Swerve Strickland.

Swerve Strickland comes to the stage to speak to Renee. Swerve says he is not concerned about Don Callis since he can’t be at ringside due to the Unified Championship rules. He says that while Okada is a generational wrestler, Swerve is something that has never been seen before. He has stared into Okada’s eyes and he saw nothing. Swerve says he is the most dangerous man in AEW. He says he has lost his last three matches in England, but this time it will be different.

Mark Briscoe cuts a promo in the back with Alicia. Adam Page shows and says they have known each other for 14 years. He says he admires Mark and he hopes he is the next person to challenge for the world title.

Renee is with Queen Aminata and Willow shows up and says they will take care of the Triangle of Madness and Kris Statlander shows up to talk. Willow has words for her and says when Statlander shows she is willing to change, then they can talk. Statlander tosses ripped up paper at Willow and leaves.

MJF vs Mark Briscoe 

Mark dodges MJF’s attack and throws hands and goes for a Jay Driller right off. MJF escapes and bites Marks’ forehead, but Mark drops him with a right hand. Mark goes to the top and MJF rolls to the floor. MJK then goes into the crowd to escape and Mark follows him and they fight up the stairs.

The referee is showing some leniency with the count.

The fight back to ringside and mark gets a neckbreaker over the barricade. Mark pulls out tables from under the ring. After he sets it up, MJF attacks him from behind. They brawl into the ring and Mark goes to the top. MJF rolls out of the way and then pulls the ref in front of him. MJF rakes Marks’ eyes and stomps him down in the corner. MJF then grabs a rear chinlock after posing for the crowd. 

Mark gets to his feet and they trade backdrops with each landing on their feet. MJF gets a neck breaker for two. MJF works over Mark in the corner. MJF tosses Mark onto the top rope midsection first as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, MJF has an abdominal stretch while holding the top rope. The ref kicks his arm and Mark is able to get a hip toss. Mark gets a series of chops and MJF gets a knee to Mark’s midsection. MJF lays in blows and Mark powers up and fires back. Mark gets a flying forearm and a splash in the corner followed by an exploder. Mark gets a running boot and then goes to the top. 

MJF rolls to the floor and Mark gets an elbow drop off the apron. Mark rolls MJF into the ring and goes to the top and MJF again rolls to the floor. Mark then dives onto him. Mark lays in chops on the floor, driving MJF to the table and then sets him on it. Mark goes to the top and MJF rolls off the table. In the ring, MJF gets a snake eyes, a slam, and a Boston Crab. Mark rolls through into an inside cradle for two.

MJF goes for a heat seeker and Mark turns it into a back body drop. Mark goes to the top again and MJF kicks the ropes to knock Mark down. MJF joins Mark at the top and sets for a pile driver for the top. Mark fights his way free. Mark knocks MJF to the mat and then hits Froggie Bo and rolls into the cover for two. 

MJF rolls to the floor and Mark puts him on the table again. Mark goes back to the top and dives, but MJF gets out of the way. MJF gets into the ring and brings the ref with him and tells the ref to start counting. Mark tries to get up but gets on the apron at nine. MJF gets a heat seeker for the pin and the win, but Mark had a foot on the rope the ref did not see.

Winner: MJF

MJF attacks Mark after the match and then puts on the Dynamite Diamond to nail Mark again. 

Hangman Adam Page comes to the rescue and they throw hands at ringside. They are pulled apart by security. MJF takes off through the crowd and Page goes to the ring to check on Mark, who is busted open. MJF starts to come back and Page meets him in the crowd and they are pulled apart again as we are out of time!
