WWE Hall of Famer Kane discussed the passing of Hulk Hogan with WVLT Channel 8 at this link. On Hogan, Kane commented, “He had widespread mainstream appeal, and he was the guy that really took wrestling from being sort of niche entertainment to very mainstream, and that opened up doors for people like me and opportunities for folks like me. You think about people like Dwayne the Rock Johnson, John Cena and others who have been able to use their wrestling career as a platform to do other things. I’ve done it somewhat in politics, and that wouldn’t have been possible years ago because there was this big stereotype about wrestling and again, it was a niche sport and niche entertainment. Now since it has such mainstream appeal, we’re just considered actors and celebrities to some extent and it really has eliminated that stigma and open up some doors that we would have had before."
Mattel announced a WWE x Street Fighter crossover action figure line at SDCC over the weekend. The initial line will feature The Ultimate Warrior as Blanka, The Rock as M. Bison, Rey Mysterio as Ryu and John Cena as Guile (the role Cody Rhodes will play in The Street Fighter film) - you will be able to order these figures via RingsideCollectibles.com.
WWE filed a trademark on the term "The Oracle" for Paul Heyman back on 6/23 for goods & services in the realms of "the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment."
