Pro Wrestling Junkie (PWJ) put on Damaged Goods 2 tonight in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey at the Mecca and on the HighSpots Network. Below are the results:
Pre-Show/Bonus Match: Solid Don’t Fold vs. Da Prospectz vs. Los Olvidados in Three-Way Tag Team Match ended in a referee stoppage when Mateo Marcelos of Los Ovidados was injured. The match was immediately stopped and the referee signaled for the EMTs to help Marcelos. Marcelos was able to stand up on his own after the EMTs wrapped his head. However, he was stretchered out and taken to a local hospital. I want to wish Mateo Marcelos an easy, speedy recovery.
1) Alan Angels defeated Daron Richardson, Gabriel Skye, Ken Broadway (with J Boujji), and Steve Pena in a TLC Five-Way Massacre Championship Match. Angels became the inaugural champion when he pinned Skye. Skye was filling in for Austin Luke, who was moved to another match later in the show to fill in for a wrestler who couldn’t make it to the show. This was an action packed match with wooden doors added to the tables, ladders, and chairs plunder.
2) Emily Jaye defeated Jazmin Allure, Kylie Rae, Ava Everett (with LSG), and Zayda Steel in a Fatal Five-Way for the PWJ Women’s Championship. Jaye became the inaugural champion when she pinned Everett. Everett and Steel were added to this match for different reasons - Everett as a replacement for Diamond Virago and Steel because Priscilla Kelly couldn’t make it to the show. Steel was supposed to take on Kelly in a one-on-one match after her original opponent, Penelope Ford, could not make it to the show.
3) Steve Maclin defeated Griffin McCoy to retain the TNA International Championship Match. As soon as this was announced as a championship match a few weeks ago, the result was a foregone conclusion. However, they worked very well together and showed respect to one another after the match was over.
4) Jackson Drake defeated Austin Luke. Luke replaced Kip Sabian, who couldn’t make the show. Luke put up a great fight, but in the end - Drake showed why he is a top WWE ID prospect and the EVOLVE Men’s Champion.
5) Deonna Purrazzo defeated Jada Stone. Before the match, Stone came to the ring and talked trash about New Jersey. She had just gotten back from Japan and claimed that Japan was a whole lot better. She challenged anyone in the back to a match and Purrazzo, an unannounced surprise, answered the call.
6) Top Flight defeated Miracle Generation when Dante Martin pinned Dustin Waller. This was a fun, action packed tag team match that got the crowd hot coming out of intermission. This match also featured a first (for me, at least). There was an audible Microsoft sound that came through the speakers, which resulted in a “Ohhhh, update your browser!” chant, which was really funny.
7) Marcus Mathers defeated Paul London. London sang “Thunderball” by Tom Jones during his entrance. London then saw that Mathers was wearing similar colors as him and said that the winner would get to keep the colors. There were a lot of fun Paul London antics during this match that got the crowd involved. In the end, Mathers hit a 450 Splash and won the colors (aka shirt and belt) from London. London did take back the shirt and belt, though. London also put Mathers over as the future of the business.
8) Charles Mason defeated Ortiz to retain the PWJ Championship. This was a hard hitting, back and forth match that spilled to the floor and spent some time in the crowd, as well.
Despite multiple wrestlers not making the show, the matches fell into place nicely and PWJ put together a really fun show for the fans at The Mecca. There was no return date announced, but Damaged Goods 2 was streamed live on the HighSpots Network and should be available On Demand soon. If you have a subscription, I would say that the show was worth checking out.
