McAfee should have never run with an internet rumor, but he did. I credit him for finally owning his role in what he did to the young woman's life.
He also met with the family and apologized.
The implication from the NBC Nightly News story was that he didn't do it sooner because a settlement was worked out, but I can't say that as a fact.
