ACTION Futures Showcase
7/19/25 Red Bank, TN
As is tradition, the afternoon of SCI is dedicated to highlighting several young prospects in all of indie wrestling. Chianne Michaels is our ring announcer this afternoon!
Match 1: Hakeem Young Vs Country Boy Coots
The face/heel dynamic is VERY clear here, as Young is happy to take cheap shots in the early moments. Coors is more than happy to get into this scrap. Every time Coots starts getting too many hits together, Young pulls something shady to take the momentum back. Coots gave a mouthful of chew and hits a senton for two! Coots sent into the buckles…Young hits a Vader bomb and a Vader style double stomp!! Kick out! Coots dodges a final shot and traps Young in a double armed ddt and the lights go out for the three! Really liked the energy between these two but I loved all the banter Young had to add here.
Match 2: Joey Hyder vs Eddie Hindrixx vs Tommy Davis (Action Futures Qualifying Round)
Hyder makes the wise decision of making enemies of both his opponents…and pays for it immediately. Davis and Hindrixx test their chests. Davis is swining hard but Eddie sends him to orbit with a release German. Cue Hyder’s return to the ring. He’s not planning to go home this soon. Davis gets wrapped in a figure four before Eddie storm back into with a senton and big tosses for everyone. Hyder eats a tornado uranage! Eddie sent out one more time. Hyder and Davis trade roll ups back and forth until Tommy locks in the three!
Match 3: Jay Lucas vs Saraya Saber vs Shimbashi
Shimbashi tries to roll out and lets his opponents have fun but they drag his pragmatic a** back into the contest. It seems like a great gimmick that every time Shimbashi uses his own name as an attack shout, he misses painfully. But he does bomb Lucas into Saber’s back for a two count. Shimbashi having a good time being a bully. Shombashi finally lands that elbow he’s wanted but Saber is ready to meeting him with a superkick! Lucas eats a lungblower! Huge lariat to Saber! Shimbashi with a great catch of Lucas and hits a short ddt into Saber…Shimbashi makes the cover for the three! This was a blast.
Match 4: Aminah Belmont vs Danny Orion vs Pha’Nesse
This is fire from the start. The crowd clearly has the TWE Gig City champ Pha’Nesse as their favorite today. That said, Animah is throwing all of her small frame into all these strikes and headbutts to start competitive here. Orion is being thrown off by all this aggression but start to pick up with heavy thudding chops! Aminah hits a crazy rope walk meteora to Orion! Pha’Nesse with a stratisfaction….Orion tosses Pha’Nesse
And steals the pin! Orion is going to the finals?!
Dylan Hales, now on crutches after last night, decides to join commentary for this next one.
Match 5: Grayson Pierce vs Damon Stryker
This is a battle of two people this crowd haaaaates. Who wins? We do, when they beat each other silly. “They don’t appreciate us!” Ring the bell, they are both cheating and taking shortcuts and the ref has to physically pull them apart. This is already awesome. Who says two heels fighting doesn’t work? Piece gets up a head of steam To slap on a chin lock. The crowd is on fire, chanting “waste of time” at both of them! Piece with a sick split legged knee drop. Stryker with a slick back kick to the junk! Pierce tries to protest and roll up Stryker…but Stryker rolls through and grabs the ropes for the three. This ruled.
Match 6: Dragon Kai (Bobcat & Crashpad w/ Erron Wade & Student Cullen) vs Cold Wrld (Dylan Scott & Korey Steed)
This is almost certainly a four on two scenario. And Dragon Kai is definitely TRYING…but they are just outsized by Cold Wrld and a Doomsday Device destroys Crashpad for an emphatic three. Erron Wade is MAD at Crashpad and orders
Cullen to fire him. Crashpad is OUT of the dojo!
Match 7: The ACTION Futures Showcase Gauntlet
The winner gets entered in the Action Futures Showcase next year!
Entrant 1: Brayden Seyden
Entrant 2: Brock Seyden
It’s a literal twin fight!!!! Quick pin attempts all over and they are just rolling around as the next person gets out here.
Entrant 3: AWOL
AWOL is out here with a megaphone and trashes the crowd before the twins decide to stop fighting and just beat up this clown.
Entrant 4: Herculon Rage
AWOL wants a partnership. No. Rage wants no friends. He blasts AWOL. He double suplexes the twins!
Entrant 5: Grassfed DJ
Nature’s Son comes right at Rage! AWOL grabs his megaphone and runs them both down. DJ with a step up flip to the floor…eliminating himself! Booooo!
Entrant 6: Skunk Rocker (w/ Luca)
Skunk rams his tail-free backside into AWOL’s Face and gets the submission! Whaaaaat.
Entrant 7: Killa Cam Isaac
Cam clotheslines Skunk out of the ring! He’s eliminated! Rage pins BOTH twins out of the blue!
Entrant 8: OXP
I am HERE for this! Riiiiiidiculous Karate combo to Isaac!
Entrant 9: Luis Cortez
Cortex tries to throw everyone out..and fails. Isaac, Rage and OXP with a triple superkick….and decide to lay each other out with a second go at it.
Entrant 10: POONDAWG
THIS IS TANK IN A MASK DANCING HIS WAY TO THE RING THIS IS AMAZING. He doesn’t get in. He just dances with everyone. He has a confetti wrapped kendo stick which he beats everyone with ok entering and is immediately disqualified. What a segment. I NEED POON DAWG MERCH
Luis rolls up Rage for the three! Isaac with a spike pedigree to Luis! OXP with another combo puts the lights out on Isaac but Luis posts him and steals the pin!
We’re down to OXP and Cortez! Giant bomb! OXP kicks out! Cortex with a big swing, OXP with a tornado head kick and a jackknife pin and gets the three! INCREDIBLE! I loved the F*** out of this year’s gauntlet!
Main Event: Tommy Davis vs Shimbashi vs Danny Orion
Orion is in the ring. Tommy is making his entrance as Shimbashi blindsides him on the entrance ramp! Orion is down for this double beat down. The crowd does NOT like this unsportsmanlike contest. It’s a triple threat! Davis fires back up like a feral Brian Danielson. The alliance doesn’t last as Orion lays out Shimbashi to get more damage in on Tommy. Shimbashi back in with an elbow drop while they try to roll and other up. Orion with a hard back chop and a series of springboard attacks on Shimbashi but cant get the three. Orion looking so much more aggressive and active in this final than the opening round! Davis with a huge clothesline causes a destroyer that lays all three competitors out! Shimbashi tries to steal the pin again after Orion lays out Davis but Tommy catches him with a roll up! Davis wins the Futures Tournament!!!! Awesome final!
Jamesen Shook, last year’s winner, is out here to present Davis with the winner’s medal! This Tommy Davis was definitely not the same person I saw on Thursday. This was awesome. Dylan Hales and Tim
Bosby are out here to tell Davis that he clearly STOLE this win from more Deserving competition. Matt Griffin has an idea…Tommy Davis should get a title shot against Tim Bosby TONIGHT AT SCI NIGHT TWO! Hales haaaaates this but the match is on. The crowd chants “New champ”! Mayyyyybe?
