As is sometimes the case, something I wrote about today in the Elite section has been taken out of context by those who have zero reading comprehension.
Earlier today, I wrote that there was a lot of back and forth over whether Hangman Page or Will Ospreay should emerge victorious on Sunday until late in the day when the decision was revealed to have Page avenge last year's Owen Hart Foundation Tournament loss and put him in the position of challenging at All In: Texas.
The promotion had two good choices either way to build towards Mox and there were positives to either way the story could have gone with either Page or Will Ospreay.
Until the reveal, the feeling was it could have gone either way.
It has been presented elsewhere as if PWInsider reported there was some sort of political battle as to who would go over. There was none of that happening (nor did we say it did) and there was no back and forth among "AEW officials' as has also been reported and credited incorrectly to PWInsider.com.
The back and forth was internal discussions about who could go over since the finish was so well protected.
Why was it so well protected?
We are told that AEW President Tony Khan knew who he planned to have go over, but purposely did not inform anyone until the day of the show so as to protect the creative process and keep finishes from leaking so as not to kill the drama of the show.
Obviously, that worked out for the best given the execution of the main event on Sunday.
