5/22 AEW COLLISION REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2025-05-23 07:53:00

It is Thursday and AEW Collision was recorded after Dynamite on Wednesday in Albuquerque, NM at the Rio Rancho Events Center.  Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Adam Cole.

We start with Tony Schiavone in the ring and he brings out Adam Cole, who is in street clothes and he joins commentary. He then brought out FTR with Stokely as well as Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, and Nigel McGuinness. FTR threaten Daniel and say he should have stayed in his place. FTR get right up in Nigel’s face and mock him and say he is injecting himself into THEIR business and he still has a chance to change his mind.

FTR signs the contract and hands it to Daniel. Daniel says he cares about FTR but he has to look at them now for who they are, selfish sociopaths. He says FTR has crossed too many lines, and he is standing up for Tony, Matt, Cope and everyone who has had enough of their actions. Daniel says this Sunday will not be a wrestling match, it will be a fight and no matter what FTR says, he knows Nigel still has the fire he had when he was the greatest Ring of Honor Champion of all time.

It’s time for Nigel to speak, and he says we will find out if he still has it or not on Sunday, and he says no matter what happens he needs FTR’s word they will never touch, talk, or look at Tony or him and if they do, it will be top guys out for good.

Dax then grabs the mic and mocks the crowd. He then reminds Nigel he has a family he needs to think about, and the wrestling business has beat him up and if he signs the contract, FTR will finish the job. FTR holds no responsibility for what happens on Sunday. Or, Nigel can turn around and walk to the commentary desk, where he belongs, and they can forget about all of this.

Nigel tells Dax not to put his hands on him again. Dax blows him off and says it’s business. If it was personal he would have beat Nigel down already. Dax touches him again and the brawl breaks out. Daniel puts Cash in a figure four and Nigel gets an arm bar until the referees break it up.

Nigel then says that Sunday, this ends and signs the contract.

Don Callis joins commentary.

Bandido and Trent start off and Trent forces them to the ropes, where they break. Bandido then starts firing chops. They run the ropes and Bandido gets a tilt a whirl backbreaker.Bandido gets a stalling vertical suplex, and when the rest of the Don Callis Family hits the ring, the Outrunners cut them off and get the same suplexes on the rest of the family. When we return to full screen, Trust is able to get to his corner.  Bandido gets the hot tag and he holds up Rocky with one arm and tosses him into Trent.  That’s always so impressive. Bandido hoists Takeshita and tries for a GTS and Takeshita grabs his leg and hits a blue thunder bomb for two, broken up by the Outrunners. RPG assist Takeshita in working over Bandido.

Takeshita tries for a back body drop, but the Outrunners catch him and then hit a double drop-kick on Takeshita. Everyone is brawling in the ring but when the rain is mostly cleared, Bandido gets the GTS on Rocky. Bandido leaves Rocky draped on the ropes, but Trent pulls him out to the floor before Bandido can attack. Takeshita gets a pump kick into Bandido’s back, followed by a German suplex. Bandido follows with a thrust kick and both men are down.

Isis tries for a tejaris, and Mone tries to make it into a tombstone but drops Isis.  Mone transitions into a statement maker and Isis taps immediately.

Kyle and Drake start the match. They trade arm bars until Kyle gets a back body drop and tries for an arm bar. Drake reverses it into a two count. Strong is tagged in and they double-team Drake with Strong getting a one count. Strong lays in blows and tries for a suplex, but Drake blocks it as Gibson tags in. They double-team Strong in their corner while grabbing a one count.

Strong gets a drop-kick and is able to get to his corner for the tag. They work over Gibson with chops and kicks. Kyle covers for one. Strong gets a few strikes and then works over Gibson’s arm. As they run the ropes, Drake tags in and the GYV knocks Strong out of the ring and Kyle off the apron. Strong is able to snap Drake’s arm over the top rope and then throws strikes at Gibson until Drake dives onto him. This leads to going to picture in picture.

GYV spent a lot of the time when they are in control jerking their jaws at Cole at commentary, and when they are out of the ring, they come close to getting into his face.

When we return to full screen, Kyle has been the babyface in peril through the break. Kyle gets a knee to the midsection on Gibson and crawls to his corner. Drake grabs his foot to stop him.  Kyle kicks his way free and gets the tag to Strong, who runs wild. Strong gets a two count, broken up by Gibson.
