ARTHUR ASHE STADIUM IN NYC, HOME OF AEW GRAND SLAM, TO UNDERGO $800 MILLION IN RENOVATIONS

By Mike Johnson on 2025-05-20 16:31:00

Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY will be undergoing $800 million in renovations, it was announced by The United States Tennis Association.

The renovations will raise the suites and club level seating in order to shift lower level seating from 3,000 to 5,000 seats.  They will be adding two new elevators in the facility, as well as enhancing the entrances and dining options.  The final result of the renovations will see the seating capacity reduced for the venue by a few hundred seats.

Redevelopment work is already underway and is timed to happen around the US Open events.  The work will be finished in 2027.

Named for the legendary Tennis Player, the stadium has hosted AEW's Grand Slam from 2021 through 2024.  A 2025 date has not yet been announced.   AEW held an event in Australia with the "Grand Slam" title earlier this year and will host one in Mexico City next month.

AEW's introduction to the stadium, which had never hosted professional wrestling before, came through former AEW official Rafael Morfi, who has strong ties to the NYC sports world.
