The Wrestling REVOLVER held "Let Us Cook" at the Calumet Center in their home base of Dayton, Ohio, live on TrillerTV.
Three big titles, a grudge match, and some build for their big June Cage of Horrors show.
WR regular commentator Bork Torkelson was joined by Major League Wrestling lead commentator Joe Dombrowski, marking Joe’s return after eight years. Joe handled the lead duties, and the commentary was much smoother than usual compared to when Torkelson takes the lead with various color commentators.
Dante Leon teamed with Tie Or Dye (Ryan Matthias, KJ Reynolds) to defeat JJ Garrett and Latino Heat (Koda Hernandez, Sabin Gauge) in a lucha rules six-man match to open the show. Leon vs. Gauge has been a good undercard rivalry since Garrett attacked Leon after they lost a tag match to Tie Or Dye back in March. Nice match. All gas, no brakes. It was meant to get the show off to a fast start, and it succeeded.
They announced they will be honoring Jerry Lynn with a Jerry Lynn Invitational Tournament on August 9 in Dayton, Ohio.
With Rich Swann and Matthew Palmer set to face each other at the Cage of Horrors show in June, both had Pick Your Poison matches where they chose each other’s opponent.
Swann was first, facing the very active, Chicago-based former NWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion Joe Alonzo. Alonzo, an excellent heel personality, went for some cheap heat over Swann approaching a year of sobriety. Eh. Very good match. There was a spot where Alonzo poured a beer on Swann’s face. I hope it wasn’t real beer. With some assistance from Palmer himself, Alonzo got the win with a springboard double axe-handle, picking up a signature victory over a former TNA World and X Division Champion. Palmer attacked Swann after the match (Joe decided he had enough and left).
Rhino, whom Swann had picked for Palmer, made the save and kicked off their own one-on-one match. Good brawl. Swann returned the favor, shoving Palmer off the top rope as he went for a double stomp. Rhino finished him with a Gore. Old TNA guys stick together. lol. Palmer then attacked Rhino with... chloroform (I guess, shout out to Smoky Mountain Wrestling), and when Swann tried to help, he was taken out with it as well. Palmer launched him off a seating stage through a door propped up between two chairs. Palmer lost but got all his heat back on Swann.
Coming out of an early intermission, The Macabre—Gia Miller’s team of Krule (Mads Krugger from MLW) and Kishin (aka Alan Angels), with Jessicka Havok—defended the WR Tag Titles against former champions Alpha Sigma—Brent Oakley and KC Jacobs. This was the Sigmas' rematch after losing the titles in March. Miller, more famous for her interview work in TNA, absolutely crushes this darker role. This was very good. The Sigmas gave up a lot of size and experience and fought from behind most of the match. I absolutely hate the “pull the ref to break up the fall” false finish, especially if the ref doesn’t either disqualify the person who pulled them or send them to the back. Krule was set up to superplex Oakley off the top rope through some chairs when former Sigma member Big Dick Meyers (formerly The Pledge) made the shocking but HUGELY popular save. Krule was pinned by both guys, with new champions crowned and Miller irate. A little clunky and overbooked at the end, but the live audience loved it.
Trey Miguel of The Rascalz got a win in a four-way match over Meyers, Jeffery John, and Juni Underwood. Nice match. John looked very good here. Solid work, but there was no way they should have followed that tag match.
Remix Champion Crash Jaxon stormed out and demanded to know who stole the Remix belt (in the most colorful language). WR executive Phil Stamper aired a video clip of Midwest star Bigg Pound in the back, looking guilty. He was in the audience and had the title belt in his bag. He looked for a little mercy from Jaxon—and ate a headbutt to the chops. What this was about is a mystery to me.
Jaxon defended his championship against former WR Champion "Firestarter" Jake Crist. Another very good match, with the smaller guy trying to strike and move against the much larger powerhouse. Torkelson hyped Crist on commentary like he’s a tiny John Cena, but for every match he wins in REVOLVER, he loses four. The booking has to keep up with the commentary. This was that one, as Crist caught Jaxon with a deep backslide to win his first Remix title. It was a perfect backslide that had Jaxon’s full weight over his shoulders—and at over 300 lbs, that’s a lot.
"The Inevitable" Ace Austin, who has had a rough 2025 in REVOLVER, was looking for revenge against his former friend Damien Chambers (with Kayla Kassidy) for betraying him when they challenged The Macabre for the tag titles back in March, in a No Holds Barred match. Being REVOLVER, you’d think that rule applied to every match, but... okay.
Austin came in red-hot, even diving off the basketball goal onto Chambers and a phalanx of security personnel. Strong brawl. Chambers went for a piledriver on a table, but the table broke prematurely, taking away the impact. Being a pro’s pro, Austin kicked out from the pin attempt, but Chambers beat him with his Darkness Falls face front driver, earning his biggest WR win to date over a former TNA X Division and World Tag Champion, as well as the first grand slam REVOLVER titleholder.
The Wrestling REVOLVER Champion "The Young GOAT" Myron Reed (with Killer Kelly) successfully defended his title against YouTuber/podcaster BDE, in only BDE’s fifth match and still searching for his first win. How they decided he should be in a main event title match is beyond me, but he’s not the first social media star to hit the business and get a prime spot. Entertaining enough bout with some good false finishes, but frankly, a wrestler in their fifth match shouldn’t be going life and death with your top champ in their ninth year—and that veteran needing a s--tload of interference and a ref bump to steal the win. How does that champ then hold off people on their level or with more experience?
All in all, this was one of the better REVOLVER shows with a lot of high-quality wrestling and lighter-than-normal on the typical WR excess, and that’s always a win and makes the show easier to watch. They did indeed cook.
