Rob Van Dam was joined by Taz last night on his podcast to honor and discuss Sabu, who passed away over the weekend.
During the podcast, Van Dam noted that there has been no official cause of death announced for Sabu by the coroner's office, in part because Sabu was still legally married to his ex-wife (who now lives again in her native Japan) and she has yet to sign off on certain documents needed in order for an investigation to go forward. Van Dam noted that she hasn't wanted to get involved in the situation.
Van Dam also noted the following incorrect details in some outlets regarding Sabu:
*His first name was Terry, not Terrance.
*Sabu was 61 years old, not 60.
*He was born in Michigan, not Staten Island, NY.
Van Dam also very much took issue with those in some circles attacking Game Changer Wrestling and Joey Janela for Sabu having wrestled several weeks before his passing, saying it had no bearing on Sabu's passing weeks later. Van Dam noted that after the bout, Sabu felt he had one more match still left in him and pitched the idea of wrestling Van Dam in a no ropes barbed wire match. He said Sabu was his closest friend and he could confirm that Sabu wanted the match and had been training for it.
PWInsider.com continues to send our deepest condolences to Sabu's family, friends and fans.
