Beyond Wrestling “Prince of the Rodeo”
3/29/25 Foxboro, MA
We’re back at the Six String Bar & Grill. Time to confuse the f*** out of some families here for a nice country-western themed lunch. This is the second show this week for Beyond/Wrestling Open, culminating on Monday at Open’s Rhode Island debut! Today, your announcer is Rich Palladino! Denver Colorado & Joe Stamper are at the announcer desk! Let’s go!
Match 1: TJ Crawford vs Ortiz
As a person, I am STOKED that TJ is getting this match against Beyond OG Ortiz. As a fan, BOOOOOO I HOPE ORTIZ AFFECTS BIG BUSINESS’ STOCK FORECAST. Angel is looking ripped today. Crawford is trying very hard to establish dominance and drag Ortiz into HIS world. Ortiz has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, even trying to break his back and make him humble. As hot as the standup and slamdown game is, they both pull some slick submissions out of the bag. Ortiz has an eye poke for TJ and a powerbomb for a very close call. TJ heads out to the stage but Ortiz superplexes him back in from the second rope! What power! Ortiz tries a hangman’s cutter but TJ hits an exploder and a silver bullet kick connects to put the Funky Monkey’s lights out for three. Good opener.
Match 2: World Class Channing Thomas vs Spike Nishimura
A few weeks ago, this could have been a VERY different contest but Thomas is playing nice these days. This is my favorite kind of intergender match, where it’s just a wrestling match between humans of different sizes. Channing has the power and bowls her over repeatedly but Spike has the speed and peppers Thomas with kicks, forearms and nearly secures the victory with several rollups. Channing may be playing nice, but this is a PRO SPIKE crowd. Channing draws the boos when he finally catches Spike with a rollup, stacks her high and gets the three. He knows it’s not popular but the crowd likes it when they shakes hands. It’s telling that Channing couldn’t beat her…he merely CAUGHT her.
Rich Palladino is set to announce the next match but Julius Draeger is out here and ANNOYED that he was left off the card. Did he see what happened to Rain Conway? He issues an open challenge and look who surprises us! Aaron Rourke asks Draeger what he’s done to deserve a spot on this show.
Match 3: Julius Draeger vs Aaron Rourke
It can be said that Draeger lasted longer than Conway. Rourke calls himself the Starmaker before he starts wrapping the newcomer up over and over. Draeger finally catches Rourke with a shot into the top rope and hits a solid suplex for a two count. Draeger is getting very frustrated that he can’t put the Dimepiece away. Rourke finally reverses a camel clutch into a figure four and the arch to the figure eight gets the tap out!
Match 4: Big Bacon Brad Hollister (w/ Love Doug) vs Brett Mettro
Bacon is for the KIDS. This is another match that could have been WAY different a few months back. These BioPro vs Beyond matchups are giving the show a bit of a “Please Come Back” vibe, which I’m here for. Bacon is on a roll to start but Mettro is feeling some disrespect as Bacon is awash in the newfound love of the crowd. Mettro turns on another gear and a healthy dose of aggression. He catches Brad with a TKO for a very close two. Brad pops up Mettro as he runs in and hits a powerbomb! Bacon stacks the kid of for the theee as the crowd cheers! Bacon pulls Mettro up and gives the kid the respect he’s clearly earned from the former Open champ.
Match 5: DJ Powers vs Gabby Forza
Pretty hype for this one. DJ is outmatched here and he’s too stupid to realize it. Powers tries complaining to the ref and pulling her hair but Gabby is having her way with him. Lots of big slams and body attacks from Forza before her rips her down by the hair again. it’s pretty much his only option to have a chance here. Gabby starts to fire back up but DJ dodges the spear and slingshots into a splash on Forza, putting his feet on the ropes for the dirty pin…but it IS a win and everyone hates it.
Match 6: Bear Bronson vs Donovan Dijak
Bear replaces an injured Bryce Donovan for this one and this has the potential to be HUGE for him. The crowd knows what this is and chants for MEAT. Both trying to over power the other and Dijak does NOT like being trapped in a vise-like headlock. We get to chopping that meat, which spills out into the bar area. Bear eats a support beam and Dijak takes full advantage, beating and tossing Bear around. Bear has been trying to reestablish his spot as a singles star and he is swinging for the fences here. Bear giving as good as he gets and not letting Beyond’s original Ace get the win here without a FIGHT. Several near falls as Bear keeps the pressure on an exhausted Donovan. The crowd is very split here. Bear avoids several chokeslam attempts before hitting a discus lariat and top rope splash…Dijak kicks out! Dijak rages up and chokeslams Bear but they’ve hit pure adrenaline and just starts clobbering each other. Dijak snatches Bear up and Feast Your Eyes connects for the three! FANTASTIC MATCH. Dijak puts Bear way over as he lays there dead, saying he’s one of the best big men in the world. The crowd agrees heartily. But Dijak wants MORE MEAT and decides it’s a great idea to call out KRULE for another clash. As for Bear, this match should be the first thing on his resume going out to promoters for the foreseeable future.
(Intermission)
Love Doug is back out here with Brad Hollister to start the second half of the show. He’s still wearing a suit and has a bouquet of flowers. He’s looking for love. Rain Conway is out here to rain on his parade. No one loves Doug, he says. Douglas strips the suit too and we have a match!
Match 7: Love Doug vs Rain Conway
Rain won’t let go of the flowers and Doug gets a face full of them. Doug trying to rally but Rain is commited to playing the heartbreaker tonight. Rain keeps throwing Doug out of the ring, Brad encourages the fans to help roll Cupid back in. Doug fires back up with the power of love and Rain eats a face full of flower petals and a Rebound connects for the three!
Match 8: Eye Black Jack Pasquale vs GAL
Can Jack be the first of the BIOPro newcomers to score a win tonight? He has a tall task against the WWEID prospect. Gal seems more interested in showing his physique and Jack is trying to take full advantage of that. Gal is all power and keeps landing hard shots on the kid. This is a game of inches though, as Jack is slowly chopping Gal down, nearly putting him away with a spear. Gal goes for a vertical suplex but Jack slips in and traps Gal with an alligator clutch for the three! Gal is shocked that he just lost to a rookie!!!
Match 9: Handyman Jake Gray vs Bobby Orlando
This is gonna be a fun little clash. Gray states his intent that he wants to hit Orlando with a Bobby Slam. Bobby has plenty of slams for the handyman instead. Jake fighting from underneath finally hits the slam…but Bobby reverses the follow up into a sick trick cutter for the three. Gray won his personal battle here but Orlando won the war.
Match 10: Sean Legacy vs Gabe Skye
The “low key banger” warning lights are going off for this matchup. These guys are hyper athletic and super competitive, testing each other with chops and soccer kicks. The kids are ring side have decided they love “Super” Sean. A fair pick. This is a hard hitting contest full of fast movement and stiff shots. They are both going for the kill until a Spanish Fly drops them both in exhaustion. They stumble to the center and brawl, Gabe dropping Sean with a head kick. Sean pops him up with a powerbomb and hits a springboard 450 for two! Crowd in full this is awesome mode. It absolutely is. Legacy hits a superplex and follow it up with a corkscrew torture rack slam for the win. This was f***ing awesome and the crowd appreciated the hell out of it. These guys want another round and the crowd would absolutely eat that up. Really Really Good S***.
Main Event: Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)(c) vs Marcus Mathers & Fancy Ryan Clancy (for the Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships)
While Clancy and Baylor are set to clash over the Wrestling Open Championship in about 48 hours, today it’s a title clash between the Open Tag Team Champions and the Open and IWTV Champions respectively. Can Swipe Right retain their titles for the second time in 2 days…or will Fancy Ryan Clancy become the first double champ in Open history? Clancy and Mathers start strong but the tag champs got here for a reason and their chemistry starts to be the defining factor here as they start to work over the IWTV champion. Clancy tries to help but Smokes can’t help but mock the fancy man’s attempts. That said, Mathers is resilient…he beat KRULE for that IWTV belt after all. Fancy saves up all his Specials on the apron and blows them all on the hot tag. Swipe Right endures and nearly ends things with a super swipe but Clancy crucifixes free. Both teams trying to end this quick but it comes down to Baylor and Clancy one on one in the center. So many near falls between them before Baylor hits his butterfly swinging neckbreaker which stops Clancy dead in his tracks and Baylor gets the clean three over Wrestling Open’s reigning champ before Mathers can make the save. Is this a preview for Monday??? Really solid clash between these teams and establishes Baylor as a VERY viable threat at Wrestling Open’s RI debut!
Today was interesting and fun. I said before that it was starting to feel like a secret “Please Come Back” show and the number of newcomers who got a chance to show off against Beyond and Open regulars proved that. I’m hoping this show will serve as a springboard for Bear Bronson and Sean Legacy…but also one that people in a couple of years will look back on and say “oh S***, how was I sleeping on these people???”
