3/27 WRESTLING OPEN 'CAN YOU STAND THE RAIN?' LIVE REPORT FROM WORCESTER, MA

By Adam Cardoza on 2025-03-29 12:22:00

Wrestling Open “Can you Stand the Rain?

3/27/25 Worcester, Ma

Spotlight Match: TJ Crawford vs Milo Mirra

THIS is a cool spotlight match. The crowd is hyped for Mirra and his pogo shenanigans. Also, despite the recent turn of Big Bacon Brad Hollister, TJ remains a pariah in the eyes of Worcester. TJ also has an agenda, saying that Brick Cory deserves a tag team title shot (on the night Bacon & Doug are getting a shot). The crowd is under Crawford’s skin early and Milo keeps him unsteady with high flying offense. TJ bullies him through a chunk of the match and stops a comeback with a flying stunner for the win. Good six minute match to kick the night off!

Rain Conway comes out and he is BIG MAD that he wasn’t put on a show with his name on it. So he refuses to leave. The crowd tells him just how much they like that prospect and pop big when Bear Bronson comes out to give Rain his desired “match”

Match 1: Bear Bronson vs Rain Conway

Bear murders Conway in about a minute. A big double chokebomb gets the three. The crowd loves it. Bear says he’s putting the locker room on notice because the Berzerker is here. We chant “Huss!” at him…because yeah. Bear shakes a fallen Rain’s hand, who got way more than he bargained for.

Match 2: Tiara James vs Spike Nishimura

This has been one of Open’s more competitive feuds over the past several months. The real question is if Tiara can get the job done without the interference of Paris Van Dale. Tiara is TRYING to put Spike away. Spike rallies back after a deep guillotine with heavy kicks. She goes for a big boot but Tiara dodges. Spike looks like she tweaked her knee there. James pushes the ref aside and grabs a knee bar for the quick but somewhat tainted tap out. Is this rivalry over?

Match 3: VSK & Jariel Rivera (w/ Bryce Donovan) vs Brick City (Victor Chase & Julio Cruz)

Bryce’s wrist is in a cast so that caused him to pull out of his clash with Dijak this weekend. But he’s bringing in problem solvers to deal with his more current issues here at Open. Brick City has problems of their own as Julio is not taking well to the crowd’s new found love of Big Rizz Victor Chase. Julio seems like he’s trying to do this match by himself. He reluctantly tags Chase in to the crowds delight. Bryce’s problem solvers are using their cohesion (and numbers) to their advantage. Chase eating a long beatdown before escaped for a hot tag to Julio. This almost ends things but the numbers game catches up. Cruz is sent flying and Chase eats a Michanoku driver from VSK for the three. Good contest. Crowd was hot for the Brick City drama.

Match 4: Georgio Lawrence (w/ DJ Powers) vs Channing Thomas (w/ Anthony Greene)

Speaking of heels who are hot babyfaces in Worcester now, it’s Channing Thomas! Lawrence leading with those championship level kicks. Channing trying to show those world class skills but his opponent stays on the attack. DJ making his presence felt too, and maybe this is a LITTLE bit of karma for Thomas’ past misdeeds? Channing is channeling triple h with a spine buster and flying knee before DJ manages to get himself ejected. Powers posts AG on his way out, which lets Lawrence backslide Thomas…but Channing rolls through and secures the pin! Channing and Lawrence brawl to the back as the next match is already in the ring!

Match 5: Anthony Greene vs DJ Powers

DJ might be regretting getting AG worked up like this, as he’s on the receiving end of a pummeling in the early minutes. DJ finally boots Greene in the head and starts proving that he can fire heavy artillery like that too. Greene gives him a godly whip into the buckles that saves him a couple minutes later when DJ’s back gives out trying to hit a piledriver. AG survives a pedigree and a splash to the back before Powers goes for the brass knuckles. Channing Thomas is back in the ring and eats the knuckle shot. AG hits a crossbody but before he gets the three, Georgio also hits the ring to break up the pin and draws a DQ on DJ. They may be losers tonight but they are the ones leaving standing up.

Match 6: Eye Black Jack Pasquale vs Brett Ryan Gosselin (Street Fight)

EBJ is all business as this goes straight into a brawl. After about 30 corner punches, this spills to the outside and onto the bar. The crowd enjoying the hell out of this. Jack brings in a bunch of chairs but BRG cracks a low blow and a ddt into the steel. The crowd gets under BRG’s skin with reminders of his time as a ranchhand, which gives Jack time to recover and start using the metal to his advantage. Worcester very much likes Eye Black Jack and are glad to see him give out of a spear and neckbreaker onto a chair. EBJ with an uppercut to the nethers of his own before putting Brett facefirst through a chair and hitting a uranage through a door for the three! This was really good. BRG is a perfect s***head and Jack has been showing a LOT of growth as these weeks go on.

Main Event: Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)(c) vs Big Business (Brad Hollister & Love Doug) (for the Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships)

Hate ‘em or hate ‘em, Swipe Right just oozes tag team chemistry. The rest of Big Buisness but not out here…I expect this WILL come into play at some point. Now for anyone who has reservations about Brad Hollister’s face turn…he does a CARTWHEEL. And the WORM. This bacon tastes different. Smokes can do a cartwheel but no one cares. Brad and Doug entertaining the hell out of this room while the champs are on the backpedal. TJ Crawford makes his presence known as he brings out a folding papasan chair and parks it at ringside, impassively observing the contest in a suit jacket and glasses. This distraction gives the champs the edge they need to take control…and TJ is doing nothing. That probably says more than anything. He watches a long beatdown on Doug before a ddt/bulldog escape lets Bacon into the contest, and the ex-Open kingpin has slams and bombs for both Baylor and Smokes. A bacon muscle buster almost spells new champs. A super swipe reverses into a double German! Doug hits a double rebound. A super swipe connects on Cupid! Bacon sent into the post by Smokes, and TJ still hasn’t moved his position….or his demeanor. Everyone is dropped and TJ grabs the Open belt. He slides one to Doug…but Smokes was left with the other one. The ref takes the belt from Doug and that sets up the belt shot and Baylor pins a KO’d Doug. TJ folds his chair and heads to the back while the champs leave victorious.
